Hi all,

My wedding will be held end June 2015. Currently looking for a venue with a budget of about $1300 per table for weekend dinner. Any recommendation for a classy and grand dinner based on my budget for about 25 tables?

Thank you for your help!

Mine was at Hotel Fort Canning - fits what you're looking for as we had almost the same criteria when we were looking for a venue ourselves.. Per table is slightly less than $1300 before GST but like all venues, there's always the yearly inflation... There's less than a year to go before your wedding so you better move fast to secure your venue as weekend dinner banquet is a very popular option and many good venues are booked out fast, plus June is a very popular month for weddings. Eventhough my wedding falls on the first Saturday after the 7th lunar month (i.e. after the hungry ghost festival month), all 3 banquet halls within Hotel Fort Canning were fully occupied for weddings on that same day i.e. 2 other couples also held their banquet dinner there the same night as us.

Hello,

I'm considering HFC for my wedding next July. I read reviews about the ballroom not on par with other hotels and there is no spotlight at the stage area. Do you have issues with this? As for service, do they assign a waiter per table? Are they prompt in refilling drinks etc? Any other feedback you can share with me about your experience? Did you hold your solemnization on the same day at HFC?

Thanks!

I had my solemnization on the same day but it was done in my church in the morning. Is there a reason why you need a spotlight on the stage? It's well lit enough for the guests to see you. I've been on stages with spotlights several times before and personally, I don't really fancy spotlights. They "blind" you (you see the light more than you see your guests) and it's really hot after a while (don't think you want your guests to see you sweating away). Generally one waiter per table. Though we never asked for feedbacks, our family and friends gave us generally good reviews and we ourselves were pleased with their service too. If you want more info, feel free to check out my reviews - link in my signature below.. The latest post in the reviews page has got more feedback regarding HFC.. Let me know what you end up choosing..

I'm deciding between Fairmont Atrium Ballroom and HFC.

I will be attending HFC wedding show this coming Sunday and have a look at the venue.

Thanks!

I went for HFC wedding showcase. Their ballroom is kinda longish. They have also recently renovated and renew their sound system in the system. I rmb they were quite strict with their hotel rooms. So strictly no overnight for helper's room. (kinda expected from a boutique hotel). Not sure about the service though as I have not attended a wedding there yet. Solemnization at the garden lawn will be a great idea. I had some reviews of the garden lawn at my blog. Hope this helps.

It depends on how you negotiate with them. The helper's room was supposed to be checked out at 8pm on the same night of the banquet but we reasoned with them to extend the hours since there would still be changing of gown for the second march-in. We only requested for an extra few hours but they surpassed our expectations and were generous to allow check-out the following day - and mind you, not just at their usual standard 12noon check-out time but 2pm... My parents who ended up staying in that room checked out before 12noon anyway but it was nice to know that they could have stayed longer if they wanted to. HFC also included buffet breakfast for them eventhough that wasn't part of any original deal either... ;)

Really?? Ah! The coordinator who spoke to me was so strict with that :( seems like it's really bit of luck to get an easy going coordinator!

When's your AD? Maybe it's coz the date's a peak season date so every room counts for them... Can slowly and gently try to negotiate with them on this aspect again and see how it goes... For your info, this doesn't just apply to boutique hotels but many standard hotels as well - we've had quite a number of friends who can't get an overnight helper's room either..
