Wedding ballroom/hall decoration

Hi all BTBs,

My wedding will be held in Chijmes hall and the wedding organiser will only provide basic candle stands with flowers on the aisle and stage.

I find it a bit too plain but also have concern in the budget if to engage a event planner for the decorations.

Have much discussion with my sil and she is willing to help me to diy some decorations.

We have some ideas but not too sure if can be work.

We saw some photos online and saw other couple did overhead/ceiling fairylights along the aisle and I find it quite nice.

And some did a customised chalkboard backdrop on the stage.

So we have asked a few vendors and their quotes is mostly cost $1k and above. I felt that I still got other stuff requires the money more then the decorations. Therefore, we intend to buy our own fairylights and stuff from taobao which can save likely 60% compared to engaging the vendor.

Can anyone mind to share if you have did your own decorations for stage and ballroom? And how is the process like?

I hope I'm not too late to start my diy as my wedding will be early Dec this year.

Thank you!

If you are able to wait, 11/11 on taobao and AliExpress, they have another 50% discount on most of their products so it's even cheaper. For me, I held my wedding in France, so I engaged a wedding planner and I told her what I wanted, a Alice in wonderland theme, she designed the whole wedding, and I told that I'll be buying all the stuffs on AliExpress (because taobao don't ship to France) and she did all the decorations. Maybe you can try this.

My wedding will be on 3rd Dec this year. I think won't be enough time to ship over.

That's cool! Your wedding planner can accept that you buying your own decor props. I think sg vendors usually comes in a package, that they provided services together with the props. Which is very costly.
