Hi all lovely btbs,

I need help from you gals...

I'm planning for my solemnisation which will be taking place in Nov 2011.
What are the key things to look out for and what do I need to do?
I'm very stressed as it is only 3 months away and I had not done any "homework" at all.
In terms of $$, we really have no idea as the range is just so wide based on some of the threads here.. @.@

The below are what me and my bf have brainstormed:
>> e-file at ROM
>> source and book JP
>> source for ROM venue
>> source bridal package (need one for Solemnisation? Wedding banquet intended to be end of 2012)
>> purchase wedding bands
>> prepare guest list (approx. 50-60 pax)

Did we miss out anything? I'm so worried as there's little time left to do all these plannings...

Just a little background: we've been dating for 8 yrs and i have rejected my bf's proposal few months back (feel that he's not sincere) and he is now gathering courage to propose once again... (haha! i guessed I'm being too harsh on him!)

TIA!!

Hi Berry,

1. First of all, you need to check when you can e-file ROM. So if yours is in Nov, you should be able to e-file by August.

2. If you are not doing your ROM at the Fort Canning Registry itself, you need to find your own Justice of Peace. The list can be found in their website.

Do note that you will need to find your own JP if your ROM falls on a weekend.

3. Meet up with the JP first and let him sign the consent form. You can only start your e-file after he has signed the consent form as he will provide you with his ID number for verification.

4. If you need a bridal dress for ROM, then you will need to source for a bridal package. You can go ala-carte if you want. It depends on the couple actually. You can go to the bridal shop to request for both banquet and ROM package together.

5. Guest list for ROM comes first. The rest comes in later for the banquet.

6. You need to source for ROM venue asap now first so that you can tell your JP that you have confirmed the date and venue. It reassures them as they book their date for you.

Hope this helps. Feel free to let me know if you need any more help =)

Thanks Jingying! =)

You're very detailed.
Only with your post that I realised I had to seek JP's consent prior to e-file.

I guess I have alot to read up!

Do you have any idea how much would such a bridal package cost (both banquet and ROM package)?

Hi Berry,

A normal bridal package (without ROM) is $3K to $4K depending on the services you need such as transportation for AD.

If there's extra ROM, probably add around $800 more? I am not sure though, need to check out. Have you went to visit any bridal shops? It's best to look around now so that you can have an idea of the prices and gown selections and their photography styles.

Or you can go search for ROM package first before you go search for wedding banquet package.

Some bridal shops that are recommended in my opinion are:
1. Rico-A-Mona (that's my bridal, so can be biased :P)
2. Di Gio (sister company of Rico)
3. My Bridal Room
4. Divine Couture
5. My Sophia Wedding
6. Bluebay (overseas is popular)
7. Bridal Concept (mixed reviews)
8. My Dream Wedding (mixed reviews)
