Silhouette the Atelier

Hi Madelaine
Thanks for the email info.

yes its heavy but at least I can walk in it.
It has that flowy ball gown feel to it which I love esp with the longish train. Opportunites to wear something like that in future will be rare .. :p

Also the corseted bustier gives me the extra ommph which is desirable too cos I am rather "flat" hee hee.. The bustier was abit spacey at first for me but Minda told me it will be altered to fit me.

Hi CG,

the gown's quite pretty with the big train but like you mentioned usually not easy to carry off the corseted bustier. problem for me is that my frame is too small to carry off such a gown..that's why i opted for an organza looking one..

anyway, do let us see the real gown when it's all done up!
wink.gif

Hi Seline,

our individual packages will differ cos it really depends on the amount of embellishments, or lace and material (ie how elaborate you want your gowns to be). Suggest that you go down and talk to them and try gowns (a Must!) so that you'll know what kind of style you like and see whether you can click with the designers

Happy Looking!

Hey CG,
The gown is very pretty! The bodice is a bit like mine and Mudpie's cos it's corseted. Me need the oomph cos of my lack of assets too kekeke. And the corset is gd cos it feels more secure and u don't feel like ur gown is gg to drop
happy.gif

When is ur AD?

Mad,
Haven't discussed with Minda re the veil. Prob going to do so when we go down again. What type of veil are u getting?

Mudpie,
Have u gone for ur PS yet? How was it?
happy.gif

Blur BTB,
When's ur AD? Have u gone for fittings yet? Sorry but i don't have photos of MU done by Sil's MUA as i got my MUA separately

Have decided on my bridal bouquet though. It'll be a pinkish bouquet with shocking pink and dolce vita roses, as well as eustomas. Cos it goes very well with the sweet look and i managed to find a pic of my dream bouquet in a flower magazine. Yes, i bought the magazine for only 1 picture - that of my dream bouquet! Heh

Hi Count,

can let me see your bouquet? maybe your picture from the magazine.

my AD is May 2007 so got long way to go.. supposed to research on EG then go down to discuss..

actually since SIL is having an open house, thought of going down to look at their latest designs to get some ideas.. better still, find one OTR

Hi girls,

Hve finished with my PS, but what a luck, was raining by afternoon, so, have to take the shoots in the rain......sob.....sob.

Anyway, everything turned out well. Really love the makeup Gin did for me. It doesn't look heavy at all. After this PS session, then I come to realised that we always claim that we like natural makeup, but different people has different definition of natural makeup. I like what Gin did for me, it really look very natural, when asked her for her comment, she said that it's actually medium makeup, not too light and neither too heavy. Have told her to do the same for my AD. Also love all the hairstyles she did for me. She's really good. So, for those who has opted for Gin as MUA, rest assured that she will do a good job for you. Realised that it is so different when she did my trial.

Hi there all you lovely brides and brides-to-be
happy.gif

I'm going there by myself 'cos my fiance's away - that'll be okay, right? They won't hard-sell or etc eh?

Don't be too sad k? Rain will give ur photos a softer and more romantic feel. Can be quite artsy! Hope u didn't get soaked though? Must share ur pics when they're out. Would love to see how ur MU and gowns look like. Where did u all go for PS? Was it very tiring? My PS date is not final yet cos i have court on my original PS date. So got to re-apply for leave. And i've been sleeping late cos been bringing work back on most nights and weekends. Now i look like a panda with eye bags

Blur
Oops, no scanned picture of the bouquet and i've passed a coloured copy of it to Minda. It's in Flowers Annual 2005, under the pink theme. Basically dolce vita roses are white roses with pink ard the petal edges and shocking pink roses are bright pink. And eustomas are like a smaller version of peonies. Argh, so sad, can't show u...

Count, It's okie..But from how you have described it, it must be quite striking! I really like flowers with the petal edges being a different colour!
happy.gif
cos i've been surfing the net to get pics of bridal bouquet. Realised that if i have it mostly white and green, it would really look quite boring. so decided i'll probably go for a tinge of pink and purples and whites!

Mudpie, don't worry too much about pics. though the day was pretty gloomy
uhoh.gif
, i'm sure your pics will turn out just fine..

Just wondering, what kind of veils can we choose? are there that many to choose from?

Guess have to catch up with you girls at the end of the week cos will be away at M'sia.. see ya! and enjoy the wedding preps!

Kate, I do not have anything to show you now, will share with you once I have them.

Count, we had our shoot at around those rows of conserved houses at Spottiswoode Park, the City Hall & the Armanien church near Fortcanning. May be due to the rain, didn't feel too tired. The shoot didn't take too much time, it's actually the makeup & hairdo that is really time-consuming. Gin did a different makeup & hairdo for me for every change and that takes up a lot of time. You shld try to get more rest and also start taking care of your face by doing mask or go facial more regularly, think it'll help alot when doing the makeup.

Blur, talking about the bouquet, mine was mostly different shades of pink, some white & a little of green. That was what I have specifically told Sil, they tried their best to give me what I've asked for. It look really lovely, still have them with me at my home now.

As for veils, I think they'll give you according to what is suitable for your gown. Initially, they gave me a really small, one-tier veil, didn't really like it, so I asked for something fuller at my final fitting. They gave me 2 to choose frm, one with the edge lined with satin and the other a plain 3-tier veil. And I opted for the 3-tier veil. You may want to tell them what you want, then again, it also very much depends on what kind of gown is yours.

Hi gals, can any1 advise what is Sil's price range for MTM package price? I have met up with Minda and Caroline. The price quoted was $5200. Is it a reasonable ramge?

Mudpie,
Ah the Spottiswoode Park houses are very pretty! Your bouquet sounds lovely and very similar to mine! Are u going to dry the flowers and keep them?

Did ur hubby borrow a vest and cravat from Sil?

Hey Blur and Mad,
Which veils are u all using? Mudpie ur 3-tier veil sounds like the very grand sort. Sure ur pics will turn out nice. Hmmm... Supposed to meet my PG next wk to discuss PS but still haven't decided on the precise venues for PS

Btw, did ur FHs buy the shirt from Sil? If not where did they get their shirts for the suit?

Count,
Yah, guess ours shld be almost similar cause we opt the same colour combination. But didn't dry the flowers, left them in a little bottle, and most of the flowers alrdy withered by now.

My MIL made a vest from the material we bought frm Bkk. As for cravat, we bought it in Ireland. As for the handkerchief, we managed to get something close to the cravat while shopping for the material for bridesmaids' dresses, so MIL made the handkerchief for him.

As for men's shirt, we got it frm M&S. As we were looking for a double-cuff shirt, with a special collar for the cravat (the normal collar shirt can't go with the cravat), so far, only M&S has it and at a reasonable price, S$99.

Hi All,
So sorry to intrude but I was an ex Sil bride
happy.gif
Jan last year. Just wondering...has Miah left Sil? Do you all know where he has gone to?
I was very very pleased with Sil and the gown....even now I miss my gown
happy.gif

Mudpie,
Yes i think our flowers are similar. Will the flowers last if u place them in a bottle and can they keep for long?

So sweet of ur MIL to make a vest and hankerchief. Aiyo, FH has not started hunting for his shirts, ties and cufflinks for PS. And our PS is in mid-July
sad.gif

Will pop by M&S to check out their shirts hopefully this weekend

Btw, what other wedding stuff do u have to settle? Have u gotten ur invites printer yet?

Have u been staying at home since u've been back since u're not working?
happy.gif

Hi everyone!

I know i hv been missing for awhile. Have been busy at work and travelling as well. Will fly again next week to Hanoi...really tired man!

Anyway, I have been busy with some wedding arrg too. Busy looking for shoes now. Mudpie & Count - both of u found ur shoes already right? I remember one of u got urs from BKK. I am running around almost everyday to look for my wedding shoes. Die! Still haven found anything n my fitting is on 26 July.

I asked Minda over the phone yesterday on the veil she will do for me. She mentioned that she wants a long one for me as my gown is quite hard in structure and she wants to soften it at the back with the veil. Well, its sounds good to me and I am sure she knows what she is doing
happy.gif
As u can see, I trust her!

Mudpie and Count: Seems like the both of u are pretty happy with wat Sil did for u for the wedding bouquet. I was pretty scared at first cos its afterall not their forte to make bouquets right?

Hi,
Just went to select our photos, was really a pleasant surprise, cause didn't expect photos will turn out nice with the rain.

Count, think the flowers last for about a week. Just threw them into the bin yesterday.

We've just met up with Jerry frm Lavish yesterday, think they are really efficient. Since our last meeting, he has gone down to have a look at the church and took a few shoots and came out with proposal for us. He briefly tell us what he's going to do for us, sounds really exciting. As for food tasting, he can even arrange to be at our place and we can invite one or two more friends along. As for florist, have also met up with Dolly. Guess the only think to look into will be the church program and printer. We'll do that when we're back in Aug.

Have been staying home quite abit, cause hubby has to work frm home, so, no one to go out with esp during the weekdays.

Mad, yes, it's really been a while since I hear frm you. Wedding shoes, hey, remember to keep in mind that you'll hve to hve something for the PS, you don't want to dirty your shoes before your AD in case of rain like mine. Good thing I had my rom shoes with me for PS. Yes, it'll be good to bring along shoes for your fitting too.

Wow, your gown sounds so pretty, okay, remember to take a few pics of it to show us, okay??

As for the bouquet, think you don't hve to worry, mine turned out great. I only briefly tell them what I want. No worries.

Hey Mad,
U shd start hunting for ur WG shoes fast! Kekekek. Mudpie bought hers in BKK for a v reasonable price so if u're there shd check them out
happy.gif

Mudpie babe,
Glad to hear ur pics turned out nice. Do share with us when they're ready! U mean u threw away the flowers? I was thinking of drying them and placing them in my office like my graduation bouquet fr last yr. Hee

Jerry sounds v nice to recce the place with u and arrange for food tasting. What flowers are u asking Dolly to do up? And are u back in ireland already? So Aug will be ur final trip back here for good?

Btw, any of u gals have a list of what to bring for PS? My PS will be in mid-July, so now trying to maintain my complexion and weight! Heh
happy.gif

Blur,
Are u back yet? Re veils, i'm not sure what kind of veil i'm using. Minda said she would pass me 2 veils and let my MUA decide... Hmmm...

Hi Count,
I'm still in S'pore, but will be leaving on Tues night. Yes, by end Jul will be back for good.

As for the meeting with Dolly, we didn't really discuss into details about the type of flowers as we were not able to decide on a budget. Anyway, she did highlight that most flowers will be easily available during that period, not sure why. All we need to do is to provide her with a budget and just let her know of our preference, she'll come up with something nice for us. Hey, how much do you think we shld set aside for flowers for church deco?? Really hve no idea at all. The thing is, the church will be taking care of the flower arrangement at the altar, so we only need Dolly to take care of the pews for us. Any idea how much?? Will $400 be too little??

I think there's really nothing much you'll need to worry about for your PS, Minda will arrange for all necessary things for you and as for makeup, just check with your MUA what you would need to have with you, ie. blotter, compact powder, makeup ampoules, etc........ However, I would strongly recommend that you bring along with you an extra pair of white heels for the outdoor shoot. Oh yes, I did a hydrating mask for face & eye mask on the night before my PS and went straight to see my beautician for facial the day after.

Now come to think about it, guess I was lucky that it was a cool day during my PS. Just couldn't imagine how it'd be if it was a hot, humid day. A blessinng in disguise, anyway, good thing was, it was just slight drizzle, no heavy rain.

Hi Girls,

I'm back!
happy.gif
jia lat, ate so much... bound to gain weight.. got to go on a diet next few days.

glad to see much buzz in this forum..

Count/Mudpie, guess i got to wait a while before i can decide on the veils.. cos my WG not done yet and still got to go down and discuss about the EG. Wish things would move faster.. esp when you gals are more happening.. oh yah, when are your AD?

Mudpie- glad to hear your pics turn out nice. must show us when they're done k?
kao_wink.gif

hey ladies! i finally went to check out SIL last fri, kenji attended to me...anybody worked w him?? i was so attracted to 2 of the gowns i almost wanted to sign on the spot!! haha..even went back the next morn coz my FH didn't go down w me the 1st time. by the way, kenji quoted me a price of $5600 for a MTM pkg!! isnt that too ex???!! its includsive of PS though. pls advise if im being overcharged? he did say my taste was more toward dramatic n hence, maybe more work to be done....

sweetpea, yeah, miah went to amanda lee. i met up w him during my visit thr too. v nice guy...funi like kenji. was he ur designer?

Heard of SIL wedding show at stamdford house this weekend. Anyone been to their last few shows? What are the prices ranges from?

Mudpie,
I think $400 is fairly generous. Was told tt $500 is very generous so $400 shd be ok. But fr what i know, Woodsville's basic package is $330 but to have organza links btw pews an extra $300 is charged! Which is crazy... Haven't checked out other florists yet cos busy trying to cfm the caterer...

If it's pews then i think $400 is a lot! Cos Dolly did mention the altar arrangements cost abt $200-300 so w/o altar arrangements pew shd be very cheap...

Aiyo, u actually did mask to prep for PS. Now feeling so anxious cos i have only been using my basic skincare. Super lazy and no time to check out new products. Spent my weekends running ard doing errands so far
sad.gif

Now we have to hunt for PS venues and also go for fitting with gowns. And our search for a wingtip shirt at M&S was unsuccessful. Sigh

Blur,
My AD is 11 Nov but PS in mid-July so lots of stuff to settle before that...

Twinstarz,
Kenji seems like a nice guy, very obliging. But i haven't worked with him before. Only spoke to him during my visis there...

Mudpie,
Forgot to update u. There was a slight mess up over the weekend. Decided not to get my sis as my bridesmaid after having shopped at Arab St for fabric and sending her to the seamstress! Sigh. Somehow my sis is very blur, and prob cannot help me change into my tea dress or take care of my WG. And she seems v reluctant to help cos of exams ard Nov. So i had to ask my gd fren to help out. Thankfully she agreed. While i originally intended to ask her, but the whole hassle of getting a gown for my sis is wasted and i have to source for gowns again! Argh *tears hair out*

Count, just got back to Ireland yesterday, was so tired, went to bed at 7pm and sleep right through till this morning 6 plus. Thanks for the advise on church deco, at least now I know how much to set aside the florist.

Hey, it's okay not to do mask the day before, just as long as you take good care of your skin from now on. And also make sure that there's no breakout, actually, I had 2 pimples popping out on the morning of the PS, good thing Gin did a good job concealing them. But I think most importantly, you must do a very very thorough cleasing right after the PS.

Hey, what about Robinsons, or there's this other boutique at Raffles city, think it's next to a shoe shop call J-West or something. But am surprised that you couldn't find anything frm M&S. Oh, what about this other shop, Raoul or something, they hve an outlet at Suntec City.

And I understand how you feel about getting help frm siblings. Well, at least you've managed to find a replacement in time.

Twinstarz, don't know why yours' so ex, maybe it's a different material they're using for your gown. Anyway, don't think they'll overcharge you, their price are pretty reasonable. Anyway, Kenji seems a nice guy, not really work with him, only once when he attended to my husband on his suit. Seems really nice guy though.

Blur, my AD is 25 Nov, my PS, just over. And regarding the veil, yes, it'll depends on the design of your gown before you can decide on the veil.

anita, haven't been to any of their shows, as for the package, think it's very much dependent on the type of gown you choose. If you read through the whole thread, you'll notice that all our package price varies from one to one.

hey mudpie! share pics of ur PS wen's its ready k? sigh, yah, i noe, the pkg is kinda ex, using duchess satin or taffeta, hence, kenji said will be slightly more ex. also coz the EG requires more work coz of the flowers to be added. i really really like the gowns though! so torn between SIL & amanda lee.

anita, u should go down to SIL and speak to the desingers..the pkg price really differs for each bride, plus it also depends on the promo that they r hving for the mth. u should go down! the ppl are wonderful! =)

Hi Count,
NH is back.. u met him to discuss on yr PS already? U can borrow the cravat n vest from Sil. We did. They even added a small brooch for the cravat.

Hi Mudpie,
Glad u like Gin's makeup. She's really good, right? It was also raining on our PS. In the end, we postponed part of it to another day.

So both your AD are just abt a week apart.

Mudpie, JJ
Yes we've tried Raoul and a lot of other places already but still cannot find a suitable shade of blue to match my EG. So may end up gg to a tailor for FH's shirts. Finally it's the weekend. This wk has been a crazy wk so far. Meeting frens amidst work and today, meeting NH and caterer
happy.gif

Hope to conceptualise sth for the PS which is in 2 wks! Ah... So many things to do and so little time heh

JJ ah,
How did u know NH is back? Heh. U still keep in touch with him?

Twinstarz,
Wow! Ur package is quite ex. The material must be luxurious!

Hi Count and Twinstarz,

i tot of going down to visit Silhouette, but i would like to know the package before going down, can you tell me wat your package consist of, and the price range?

Twinstarz, will share my pix when they are ready. I think taffeta could be ex, cause mine is full duchess satin gown and the package cost me $4480, minusing my EG. But we topped up another $200 for the material used on my hubby's tuxedo. I somehow do trust them with good price, cause before confirming with Sil, I was contemplating signing up with another BS whom they charged me additional $1k for the duchess satin gown, but Sil only add on minimal of $200 plus. Maybe you can go check out with other BS on the same kind of material for comparison before confirming.

JJ, you're back again. Yes, agree that Gin is good. In fact, after the trial, I had my reservation initially, the trial makeup was like so so simple and plain. But now I realised that she only put in more effort on the actual, and the trial is really a very brief job. Anyway, really like her makeup.

So, you postponed part of your shoot, did you have to pay additional?? And yes, both Count's & my AD are a week's apart.

Count, yes, should just go for tailor if you can't find anything your hubby like. Anyway, think the charges by tailor are almost the same. Which one you going to?? There's CYC at Raffles Hotel. How did the meeting with your photog & caterer went?

So lost, you shld go down and find out more details, cause the price varies frm person to person, depending on the design and fabric used. As per our discussion above, you can see that.

hey so lost, yeah, agree w mudpie..its better if u go talk to the ppl thr. dun worri, they r nt at all pushy. =) anyways, most pkg comes w 1 WG, 1 EG n 1 suite for the guy, be it OTR or MTM, plus make up n flowers deco for the cars.

hey mudpie! yeah, most BS charge more for duchess satin gown. kenji mentioned that SIL can get cheaper duchess satin, that's y no additional cost for it. but tafetta is more ex in SIL. u din't get a EG from SIL?

Hi twinstarz, yap, will not be getting a EG cause we're not going to hve a dinner. instead, we're having lunch right after the church ceremony. So, don't see the need to have the EG, also, didn't want to go through the hassle to change them. Anyway, it's once in a lifetime for us to be able to wear the white gown, so why not spend more time in my white gown instead.

Hey Mudpie,
The meeting with the caterer and PG went well. Will prob cfm with the caterer. As for PG we went scouting for PS locations and managed to find quite a number of locations, but may have to take the photos "undercover" cos they are not the usual PS places. Intending to do more "mood shots" so we need places which look more retro
happy.gif

Looking fwd to our PS though i have yet to get my CS and gowns! Minda said she'll style FH this wk so we will prob hunt for shirts this wkend heh

Sounds cool tt u are really pleased with Gin's makeup. Am sure ur photos will turn out beautifully! Have u decided on ur invites printer yet? i've been trying to schedule a meeting with a couple of them but it's been diff to get hold of them...

Solost,
My package is slightly diff cos i didn't get the MUA fr Sil and the PG as well. I think i paid abt $4K, can't really remember the precise price
happy.gif

Twinstar,
Sounds like u have a WG design in mind already?
Are u going to get it OTR then? Since it may save u time and cost if it fits! Heh

Blur,
When is ur AD? And what design is ur WG and what do u have in mind for ur EG? Share...

thanx for reply me...
think i'm going to SIL and have a look and talk to them..
btw, COUNT,juz wonder, cos i read from the past message, and know tat u paid 1k for make up ah?
so tat mean you pay like 5k without photo?
Sign, ur package is so expensive...
guess ur gown must be super super nice...
u got pic to share???

hey count! didn''t know that your MUA & PG's nt with SIL, will it make ur pkg w SIL more ex then? always thot that it'll be cheaper to get them all in a pkg. haha..lazy me. yeah, i saw this tafetta gown with sweetheart neckline, crisscross top n a big gown w a long train with glitters here n thr. hahaha...so drama rite. but i love it! just that i wan it in duchess satin coz tafetta has this funi noise when i move ard though its lighter. kenji called to say thr's a similar gown in duchess satin which just came in, so i may go down this week to try it! heh, can't wait....just wish the pkg was cheaper though. wat's ur EG like? i hv a prob with the EG design..coz i wan something diff n more dramatic...but yet to see anything spectacular..need to look ard...

hey mudpie! yeah, u're right...if u're not having the traditional dinner, really no point in getting an EG. wat's ur WG like?

Hi Count,
No lah.. didnt keep in touch with NH. Just that we do go and look into his blog once in a while. That's how we know he's back. Yr PS sounds interesting. Retro theme?

Hi Mudpie,
Yes, we postponed. Wanted to go 3places. Only managed to go 2 of the places where one is sheltered and another not raining there. Luckily no extra charges for the shoot. But Gin does charge. So end up doing my own makeup since it's the beach shoot. So no need any heavy makeup/hairdo.

Wow Count, you really do a lot of homework for your PS, whereas for us, we just leave it to the Photographer to suggest as the original location I planned for, Villa Bali is charging us at $150. So, didn't see any point of paying it. I'm sure your pics will look fabulous. Hey, btw, which caterer are you set for?

twinstarz, don't worry, I'm sure they'll quote you something really reasonable. And yes, I agree that it's really no point having a EG if not hvg dinner. At least, can save some $$$. As for my WG, it's something really very simple. A duchess satin ballgown with sweetheart neckline. There's a little draping ard the neckline and also just right below the draping, some lace embellishment. The skirt is box-pleated with long train, to make it look grand for church march-in. But Minda did add on alittle hook at the back for me to hook up the train for the lunch, so as for me to move ard easily.

JJ, you're lucky that the only location left is the beach shot, so, don't need much makeup. But, how much was Gin charging you??

c00kiemonster, so sorry, haven't collect my pics yet. So, can't share with you at the moment. But you shld go down to meet up with the designers to find out more details. As for the package, like we mentioned earlier in the thread, it varies frm person to person depending on the design & fabric used for the gown.

Hi Count,
my AD is end May 2007 so still got long way to go- another 11 months. now busy looking for my house- which is my next headache.

my WG- mainly organza and lace, the train is more ruffles-like and the top is patch on french lace/beadings. when i went to SIL, fell in love with the train, so opted to just change the bodice.

EG- was thinking of more ballroom dancing/Spanish flamenco costumes (but dunno whether i can carry it off- since i'm quite small size) or otherwise, last resort make a cheongsum.. aiyah, due to go down next month to settle the EG designs, so still keeping a lookout for ideas. Any suggestions for good mags to get ideas?

Hey Mudpie,
We shd be confirming with Fost*e soon. Now just hope tt the PS turns out well. Heheheh. Quite excited abt doing the PS cos it is sth which we want to do and more our style
happy.gif

Blur,
Don't worry, time flies and it'll be ur turn soon! I was very eager last yr to get it over and done with too. Hehhee. I think Minda recommended style.com for pics. My fren also mentioned elle.com

JJ,
Actually our PS is more a movie theme, with 1950s or 1960s Singapore. We wanted sth more oldish rather than the contemporary shots. Hopefully it will turn out well and we manage to shoot at the venues we have in mind
happy.gif
