Hi rhs, thks for the photos. Your gowns are very elegant

Hi Odie, you're right. The spot on my OTR WG has already been cleaned! So sweet & pro of Miah.

I'm now agonising over my EG design. Dunno if what I confirmed is the most suitable. It will be red in colour but my mom will also be wearing red!

Thinking about it day & nite ... headache.

hello aureus

am an ex sil bride. designer was heath too... and i really njoyed my sessions with him, he is very good in detailing ... i think i got more than what i have bargained for ;)

heath has a more "romantic" soft slant, whereby i slant towards edgier style... but he had blend in the look nicely - perfect :D

i think he is more stressed and excited than i was over the gown. i love both my gowns. they really look better than i have imagined it to be. if given a choice i like to do it again with Heath again ;) i hope u have fun with him!

truth is i think i will not get the same kind of gown if it would be miah or minda doing it - they all have different styles n feels though they are are good in their own way

Hi c0co,

Have you confirmed your BS?
Just had my 1st fitting yesterday & feel a little disappointed. I think I made a bad decision to go with red for my EG cos it does look more dated. The material - silk underlay with chiffon overlay - is also a big problem for me cos it is limp and shows up my tummy. Another thing that I'm not happy about is that the chiffon puckers at the seams, which I hope they can iron out or loosen. The saving grace is that I like the design of the back.
I really really hope that the gown will turn out alright after the details are sewed on.

hi c0co,
nothing was changed. gotta rely on better girdles or other undergarments to control my flaws. i haven't gone shopping yet but i hope i can find something that doesn't show up under the gown too. keeping my fingers crossed for the next fitting coming up.

what about you? have you confirmed your BS?

Hi Everyone!

I'm thinking of signing up with Sil too. The designer i spoke to previously was Miah. Anyone has got any experience with him?

Hi wing,

thanks for your suggestion. I couldn't see the webpage that you posted. Anyway, i already bought one of the flexless girdles from Blush. Works very well & comfortable too.

hi everyone, i've also signed with sil and designer is heath..

mookie,
wanted to ask some questions regarding your eg cos i'm also doing something similar... silk underlay with chiffon overlay.. you said the chiffon puckers at the seams? is it at the tummy area or the sides?
how did it turn out after you voiced your concerns?

hi fay,
during the 1st fitting, there were puckers on the eg from below the waist down along two vertical seams at the front and at the back. the finished product is quite alright because most of it was ironed out. but if you inspect closely, some are still visible.

what's the design of your gown, fay? mine was in the mermaid cut but wider. so, with the limp material on my big hips and "tummy", i needed a lot of help from a good girdle.

Miah is a very nice guy who designs according to what you want. if only i had more time for my design process (cos I signed up very late) ... i had wanted something flowy but on retrospect, i think i should have stuck with a more structured material that would hide my flaws better.

hi mookie,
erm.. don't really know what the cut of the gown is... actually haven't really decided on that but we just discussed what material to use, what colour etc.. i tried on a gown that also had the silk underlay and 2 layers of chiffon over and some floral applique (??) design on the chiffon.. tot it was quite nice so decided to do something similar...

you mean the verticle seams are at the sides of the gown or in the middle? and the puckering is on the chiffon or the silk? i shall ask heath to make sure there are no puckers...
heath is nice too, and he always very stress about the gowns... quite funny..

Hi Fay,
if i remember correctly, my eg has two front seams, two side seams (not so sure about this) and three back seams. as the chiffon is overlaying the silk, the puckering appears at the seams of the chiffon (my silk underlay had only side seams).

it really depends on the type of chiffon (delicate or stiff) you have selected and the cut of your gown. since you are having two layers, you may not have the same problem. for example, my ROM dress was in a stiffer chiffon (several layers) and there were no such problems.

Hi all. I'm a bit new to the forum, but I was quite impressed with all the comments made about silhouette. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the designers are experienced in designing ballgowns?

hi hi cldc75 ...
but i've not done any research yet ... confused over soo many bridal shops ...
am wondering what kind of gowns does sillhoute specialize in ? do they have lots of off shoulder gowns ? lacy ones ?
what about photography ?

odie

New Member
Hi Rokko... nice to see you here too =) I'm also an ex-sil bride.

CK... Sil doesn't have a specific type of gown which they specialise in. They seem to be able to do many different types... depending on what you like and which looks best on you. I love emboidery and had that for my gown and I have to say that their emboidery is fabulous.

odie, mind to show me some pics of your gown ?
thanx for reply ...

i'm not looking for something glamourous .. but something flowy or lacy, soft kind ...
u know what i mean ?
what do u mean by embroidery ..
how does it looks like ? the material ?

and looking for natural shots for photography ....
understand that sil ties up with a number of photographer ... which is good ... since i can choose ...

not like some bs, in house photographer ..
which i dun really know they pro or not ...

Hi CK... maybe you can let me have your email addy and I will give you the link. My email addy is [email protected]

Yup... those romantic kindda of gowns I believe ;)

My evening gown is a mix of lace and dutchess satin and my wedding gown is dutchess satin. Tea dress is made of silk. Personally I like satin and it looks better on me.

Emboidery is the detail on my wedding gown. You can see it when I send you the link.

BTW the photos are mostly my AD photos. PS photos have been taken down some time ago.

Hi rokko... have sent you the link. Oh from my AD pics you can actually see the set up of fullerton's ballroom as well. Hope the photos can make you feel that you didn't make the wrong choice.

I am with Miah as well. He is a nice guy and I can assure you that you will be very satisfied with Sil... from the gowns to the car decor to the bouquet. No worries for the gowns... just try on a few more and I am sure you will find the cut that will flatter you the most. Alternatively you can do a bit more homework on your own and surt some websites. That's what I did and basically I knew what I wanted right from the start.

Hi CK... forgot to answer you on your question about the photographers. Yes they use external photographers but I cannot remember who are in the list other than Chris Ling. We were deciding between Chris Ling and Kim... eventually we chose Kim and since kim doesn't tie up with Sil we engaged him on our own.

odie,

actually how much u paid for engaging Kim separately? in total with additional pics ... how much you've paid ?

mind to PM me how much u paid for the package with sil ... i think the dbs internet banking promo going to be over soon ...

odie

Hi CK... have just sent you the link.

I paid $3988 for Sil. Added on another $700 after that because I wanted a teadress.

I didn't top up my photos cos the package I took up with Kim had 30 pages and includes the digital effects and collages... and it was more than enough. I can't remember how much my hubby paid for Kim... but I believe it is about $3,200. Let me check with him tonight.
