Silhouette the Atelier

iluvPurin- yeah, agree that their gowns are generally very loose. The bustier gowns I'd tried are quite loose, had to clutch my arms close, else it will slip..lucky our gown will have the corset, so will be very tight.
Btw where is the new outlet? Which shop is it near to? I also work there, just went to tour the area today but didn see the new Sil outlet.

next door to spa haven

Loose? How I envy you gals...I couldn't even zip up most of their gowns

How's the gowns selection at Amoy? Still tulle & lace as their specialities?
And which designers are there?
Thanks.

Hi , i would like to get some advice. I just had my make up trial and hair with Silhouette. Can someone please share your experience of the trial with Silhouette? I am not very keen on the make up as it looks like something that I would do for a wedding dinner. I was expecting contouring of the face, better coverage make up. Also, the MUA did not even do the updo that i showed her. She said she will do the curls on the actual photo shoot, instead she will just do a rough updo for me. I had thought a trial would be the whole works so i will know how i would look like on my PS & AD.

Can someone please share your experiences?

Hi cherryblossoms
Thanks for the update
happy.gif
I thought Trial session, the hair do is just a mock up ... that's according to some of the bridal boutique I had visited.

Hee,I am still shopping around for my wedding next yr Mar 2010.

Will make appointment to visit Silhoutte soon...

Hi I am new here.

Am currently sourcing for WG & EG, + bf's suit w/o PSand I have narrowed down my choices to SIL and bridal veil.

As I am quite short and petite (157cm, 40kg), I had initially thought of getting MTM gowns but it seems like it may not be required after all when I read thru the thread.

Wonder if anyone can share their package/ pictures with me so that I can look thru?

Hi all,

I've seen Sil's gowns in magazines and they look great.

Just wondering if I were to get a standard package of 1WG, 1EG, 1 suit from Sil - would you know if any one-stop-shop that would be able to take care of the rest : make up, pre-wedding and actual day shots, flowers, and possibly provide bridesmaid gowns as well? Thanks!

Hello everyone
happy.gif

I went to Silhouette yesterday. They had really gorgeous tulle gowns! Minda and Fiona were there with me. They were really warm and friendly.
I was quoted 6200 for WG tulle MTM to keep, EG MTM to keep, tux to keep, makeup trial and makeup for evening.

I went to the link wedding, Amanda lee weddings and Renee L Collections today and realized Silhouette gowns are still the most gorgeous and detailed.

Anyone had their cheongsum tailored by Silhoutte? I'm thinking of getting a cheongsum from them but they're rather pricey.

I really love the cutting and workmanship they did for my evening gown. Should I spend the money for a dress I will probably just wear once?

babymarian,

May I know roughly what does your tulle gown look like? Is it a tulle skirt with bling or a tulle skirt with silver embroidery on it?

I'm hoping to keep my gown too but I need to pay like an extra $1000!

Hello CareBearz

I just went to Minda and I've decide that my top will be lace with swarovski crystals with pleated tulle surround the sweetheart neckline. There will be a swarovski crystal brooch in the middle of the top. Because of the extra lace and crystals, I have to top up more money.

cherryblossoms> I just went for my trial make up yesterday and I am happy with it

Gin provided me with ideas and I will leave it in her good hands for my pre-wed photos and actual day! My trial make up looks natural and rough updo is also nicely done already....so on photoshoot day and actual day, it will definitely be nicer :P

Hi, anyone have any unpleasant encounter with sil designers? I am a sil customer but apparently, my designer was kind of rude to me when I told her to amend the gown as it doesnt appear nice to me. She kind of gave me a lecture and shut the phone off. Any idea if we are able to change our designers halfway?

peace_lover > I think you should bring this up to the manager in-charge and you have every right to change if you are not comfortable.

peace_lover> so far, my experience with my designer, Caroline has been really good...she's been very helpful and has provided really good feedback to me. She has also amended the gowns for me as per my request. Really looking forward to see my dresses before I collect them for pre-wed photoshoot....hopefully, I do not put on extra weight again
happy.gif
Until today, I think Caroline and the team @ Silhouette has provided very good service!

pebz> I was like you....excited...in fact, even though my dresses are already done up, i am still excited whenever I go to Silhouette...

Hi Pebz, who is the manager in charge? And any idea who is the boss of sil?

Hi Pearl_Chin, I am not saying all my experience with Sil is bad. Of coz, there are times that my designer has been helpful. Cos my designer was the one who asked me to do research on the evening gown. If we dont like what she has done, we have the right to share with her rt? Fashion design is not my forth, sometimes I may not be able to express well to her what is wrong with the gown but I can only tell to amend the part that looks 'not right' to me. She said in a pissed off manner that she is not designer name XXX and she cannot do exactly what the other designer does and I have to know what I want. Is this terrible? Am I being too troublesome or perhaps I called her at the wrong time? Need to say, this is most upsetting.

peace_lover> oh no.....dun be upset....maybe you should call your designer again and highlight your concerns....so that he/she can get the seamstress to tailor it to suit you? of cos u have the right to share with her on your views...I also made amendments here and there which I think made me look better.

peace_lover> Hmm..that one you would need to find out, the person I spoke was the fashion designer.. Try and speak to your designer again. It could be a mis-communication?

Liz > The package I have on-hand is Glamourous Silhouette - $4,580. I can't remember exactly what it contains as it is at home. This is what I re-call;

1 WG (OTR/MTM)Rental* MTM means simple gown*
1 EG (MTM)Rental
1 Suit(No Shirt) MTM - To Keep
1 Trial Make-up (Strictly trial)
1 Day Make-up
1 Night Make-up
1 Bridal Bouquet
6 Corsages
Bridal Car Deco + 8 Additional Ribbons

Can't remember if there was anything else but I do know it contains lesser than what most BS offers and definitely at a higher price.

hello ladies

i'm a silh bride and i am absolutely happy with their gowns and service. I believe you are all in good hands!

i have completed my photo shoot and am very happy with how the gowns look in the pics. I had a tulle ball gown which turned out kinda glamourous looking
happy.gif

The make up for my face was a little too fair and made my face look too white in the pics. But overall I am happy. I will have to highlight this to my MUA for my AD. So girls do take note of this during the trial cos mine looked alright during the trial actually.

hi, can anyone share their SIL wedding package with me pls?
[email protected]

Want to find out also, how is their MTM quality? I have designs of both my gowns (very simple no beads or sequins) and would like them to 'copy' the design. Are they any good?

Pls help

i cant wait.. coz i really wan to customise my gowns

Hi ladies who had signed up with Sil, have u selected or had in mind the WG before u sign up? Can sign up first and then choose subsequently?

lin> Yes, I agree. Like you, I will be visiting TWP too then I will decide. I hope to decide by this week... But I hear that TWP has alot of hidden costs so I'm not sure. When you meeting them?

Melissa Tan > I have not decided yet but I would think you could work both ways; sign then choose or choose then sign. In my case, when I was there, the IC actually kept the gown aside for me until I told her not to cuz there was another bride who was interested.

i'm a current TWP bride and there are no hidden costs in my package..
happy.gif

i do understand if you wanted a full lace or fully beaded bodice or to use silk for your gowns, you will have to top up but as i didnt have any of that options, it doesnt apply to me.. mine will be a MTM tulle gown with beading on the bodice
happy.gif

the only thing we are topping up for is the extra vest for my DH.

previously, we were also considering sil but we signed up with TWP coz the service was much much much better than what we experienced at sil.

not superfamous>so cute your nick! Heh! Thanks for clearing that up. I am seriously having a tough time deciding on who to sign up with. Friends have been telling me to just go with the one I like, but I haven't had a 'wow, thats my gown' feel... Hiaks! SIL has the 'I can modify/swop' the bottoms or tops around but I would really love to have the option of MTM-from scratch kind. But they are not that supportive on this; rather hoping that we will adopt the swop thingy. A plus point; They have tie-ups with the photographer that I want... TWP seems really comprehensive in their packages though...

You had bad service at SIL?

hi pebz> Just go to the bridal boutique that you feel most comfortable with
happy.gif
In my case, I dun think TWP is offering me more for the same price, there were so many top ups to be done when I was just trying on the OTR dresses.

TWP and Sil packages are about the same from what I enquired previously except that TWP has a tea dress. You can always MTM from scratch in Sil?

Service in Sil has been far much better for me and it doesn't just stop there after signing up with them....

Hi lin> its better to get a quote from Sil since you already have the designs...

Pearl Chin> Based on the package, SIL has suggested to MTM a tea dress/gown for me in exchange for the MTM suit (groom) so I can use for both tea ceremony and solemnization. I guess it also depends on what kind of gowns I want. Gosh! Its hard-work... I've been trying to look for pictures of gowns done by silhouette..You know where I can find?

pebz: Oh ive visited them last week already and they're still at the top of my list for BS. But will be visiting 1-2 more before making my decision though.

not superfamous: agree that there are no hidden cost (as communicated) and that there will be top up only of gown is full lace or embroidery.

Oh ya and i must say i like their appointment makeup artist coz they are from "The Makeup Room" and they are very good!

Pearl Chin: Yeaps probably will drop by nxt week and check it out at SIL before making my decision.

Will probably decide by mid august!

Pearl Chin> I managed to locate their fashion show-its listed on FB. Quite pretty I must say...I understand that SIL has a 0% installment plan from UOB. Maybe should use that as part payment. Keke!

pebz, yeah we weren't too impressed with the swapping of tops/bottoms part either but their MTM quote was alot higher. i understand that you can also MTM the top if you don't like it, so its partly MTM too
happy.gif
that's great if you have found a skirt you liked. i was quite set on sil at first coz i loved how the gowns looked but each time i went down, got disappointed with their service. best to go with the one you feel most comfortable & happy with and the gowns that you like most
happy.gif
you can try looking at 9frames website.

lin: yes i love makeuproom! jyue huey did my makeup for my ROM and i was very very satisfied with it. have absolute faith in her! you can always swap the sil MUA service and engage her on your own? but her rates are quite pricey if you do it that way..

not superfamous> I'm leaning towards Lighted Pixels. Keke! I will be meeting TWP tomorrow evening and hopefully I will be able to decide.Did you get the OTR/MTM package? I'm quoted as $3588 and $4399.

not superfamous > agreed but at least u know u r paying for quality coz ive seen her makeup and its just the way i like it.

pebz > i hope you find the BS you like. I got quoted the same price too and am leaning towards the MTM package hehe.......

lin> Based on the MTM, there is a tea dress by Empire (also belonging to them). The reviews are not positive as; you only get to choose the tea dress quite last minute. Can't choose beforehand.
