Hello, has anyone tried checking in their wedding gowns or hand carried the gown onboard a flight?

I'm bringing my wedding gown back to SG as I'm planning to have a wedding lunch back in SG but I have no idea on what I should do with my gown. I'm taking a SQ flight. Anyone can help? Million thanks! :)

hmmm one of the BS ever mention that you need to hand carry your gown...

I checked in my gown as my bridal place have assured me that its safe.was very worried at first but no choice since my gown cant fit into cabin luggage so no choice I can only check in and keep my fingers crossed. I took emirates airline doh. Hope that helps (:

our BS is local but we did an overseas shoot. had 3 gowns and 2 suits in all. there was no way we could hand carry. used a vacuum bag and stuffed all into a luggage for check in.

I am thinking to check in but am afraid the gown will be spoilt or something.

But now that you gals said you checked in with no problem, I feel more assured. :D

Thanks!!

for me my bridal boutique packed it into a bag for me, doh we have a hard time squeezing that bag into our luggage, its doable, if not u can put it in the luggage directly should be easier also. Gowns are soft, so i don't think will spoil so easily. (:

I am not going overseas for photoshoot. But I would hand carry the gown if its me. I wouldn't risk anything though. Just my 2 cents.

All the best!! :)

I wouldn't be afraid of gown getting spoilt, but I would be afraid of gown getting lost with luggage (happens even for full service flights). Getting compensation is one thing but you may not have time to remake the gown and it may be a hassle purchasing them.
That said losing luggage is not that common so it really depends on whether you wanna take the risk

thanks all for the suggestions. :)

my gown is pretty puffy at the bottom and to hand carry is heavy. I was thinking to vacumn pack it but since it has wavy curls at the bottom that is hard, I'm not sure if vacumning it makes sense. I will try to find a way though...hahaha :P
