Hi,

I read XTX post in 2008 and he asked about renoucing islam in singapore.

His questions were :

"- Legal process of getting my religious status changed
- Any lawyers/court I need to approach?
- Any documents/testimonials etc, that I need to obtain?
- After getting these letters and approaching MUIS or religious authorities, I next have to approach ICA for the IC change, right?

Basically, pls, just a brief outline of the legal process. "

I was wondering whether anyone out there has the answer to the above question. Thanks

Maybe it's good to check with an Islamic lawyer from Syriah court ..

Daniel, from what i know (don know accurate or not), in distribution of property and other personal matters (eg. marriage, divorce, etc), a muslim can be charged under muslim law and subject to muslim law. However, for others, MUIS SG law is still above MUIS.

there was a case recently where a muslim woman's greedy relatives wanted part of her late husband's estate under the syriah law but the court stopped that and granted her rights under civil law...so civil law here lords over all others..
