Hi Panda, I'm sorry to address that its not true that creams don't help. Personally I think even after IPL, pigmentation will still come back , why? because we didn't provide our skin with hydration and protection against the UV. That's why I use 180 series from Nu skin, you can use the Viscia scan if you don't believe, after using the 180 series, you will see a better result with the scan. Trust me. You have to understand that not all prodts help, but Nu skin does. I advise u to chk out their website, they are really a scientific company that provide all of the good and none of the bad prodts. I can't wait for their latest range to be launched in US this october, AgeloC

I had my laser done on my pigmentation sometime in 2007 at Cosmopolitan Clinic by Dr Ng Wei Bunn. Had about 8 sessions. The pigmentation lightened and I maintained it with the lightening cream I bought from the clinic.

This cream helped in maintenance and remember, lots of sunblock too. After more than a year now, I feel I need to go for more treatments soon cos as I age I see little spots here and there.

My take is, lightening products off the shelves are a waste of money. See a doctor if you really want to see results. After that, it is all about maintenance. There is no one-off treatment. It's a gradual progress and you must be diligent in looking after your skin.

Dr Ng is very good with what he does and his charges are quite affordable. You can contact Cosmopolitan Clinic at 6327 3773, 73 Circular Road #01-01, www.cosmopolitanclinic.com

Panda, my first session was $250 (plus consultation) cos there were lots to do. My whole face was red but it got better 3 days later.

The subsequent sessions were lesser cos it improved. I even had some skin removed on my shoulder not due to pigmentation. An estimate, about $1,100-$1,200 but this was spread over about 9 months. Hence my treatments were from 2007 to 2008.

I will have to start treatment again soon after about 1 year from the last session.

I would say, Dr Ng is affordable and he does not push. In fact it was me who wanted to do more sessions.

I think he has other treatments for different problems. My pigmentation is very deep, hence he recommend laser.

thanks Latino.. that is reasonable price for so many sessions. before you do the laser did Dr Ng tells you anything after the laser.. I went to see a few doctors already.. they do not wan to laser for me as they said there is a small % that the pigment will darken. After hearing that I don dare to do.. I m thinking to try IPL.

After the laser, I had to avoid the sun so I stayed indoors. My face was red and hot for an hour or so but it was bearable. I even went to work after that. Ugly but never mind la... kekeke

The scab dried and started to peel after 3 days. I dont remember them darkening but I know that my face was better after each session.

Actually it would be better to do your laser on a Fri and stay home during the weekend.

Panda, Dr Ng would advise you on the treatment that is best for your skin. There are other treatments than just laser. Yes, he has IPL too but I dont know how much.

Would be good to see him for a consultation first and then decide.

Panda, may I add - I am not a fussy person and dont have very high expectations. After 8 sessions, my face was not perfect (like those in the magazines). But it was certainly better than pre-laser days.

If you are interested in IPL, just go ahead. It's very common nowadays. Even beauticians offer IPL. I would rather see a doctor.

Hi, but I believe even after laser, you still need to take care of your skin, as aging is a constant process. I like to share a certified aesthetician who prescribe health supplement and good skincare regime to her patients as she says, even after she solve their problem, it will come back as the process of aging is ongoing...she loves a good nutrition, omega 3, probio and Tegreen. SHe also recommends 180 sries to take care of our skin daily.

I spent quite alot of money on skin care products to lighten pigmentation on my cheek and also went for my mthly facial, have the infra-red thingy too. And I use faceshop whitening essence to lighten my pigmentation. My pigmentation indeed under control, slight lightens and not getting worsens, but still can see it on my cheek. Sian..

Hi moo pooh,
Can share your mum's catalogue with me also, [email protected]

Till now I am thinking, maybe I should go for IPL, instead of spending so much in products.
My colleague advised me to go polyclinic to get a referral letter to National Skin Centre, so the fee will be cheaper for IPL ya.
But kinda lazy to queue in polyclinic.

who has tried IPL, can share the result? I m afraid of doing cos Doctor said it may darken instead of lighten the pigmen area, that is the disadvantage of doing IPL.

Hi Panda, have you all heard the latest technology that targets aging frm the source? OUr genes? Its really amazing and it help reduce 8 signs of aging in 7 days, I've used it and the most obvious effect is lightening of our pigmentation. and definitely a firmer skin...this is the first technology that cure as well as prevent signs of aging!

Lemon juice will help, but this will take forever. The usual over the counter skin lightening cremes available in the US aren't very effective, but I found a product on eBay, from India, that I've been using, and it really works, and it's not at all harsh, and even though I use it on my face, my skin is still soft and very fine. It's called Fair and Lovely. (I don't suggest you use a product on your bum...Unless you're a porn star, who cares if that area is darker? Just lower the lights a bit.)

our internal cell repair is v impt as it will affect if we will grow white hair, skin rough or smooth and most impt cells will not grow into cancerous cell. there is a pdt which is currently selling fast in US that will help to repair, renew and reveal younger looking skin. it also helps to repair cells so that we can be healthy. PM me if u wish to lead a healthier life.

There's as new laser treatment that treat's skin pigmentation, it's called Laser skin rejuvenation.

It required 3-5 treatment session to get optimum result, and typically it will last between 5-30 minutes.

Hey ladies,
I was just reading about pigmentation problems and was recommended by a friend to the Lumenis M22 treatment-it's the most advanced version of IPL, now called Optimal Pulse Technology created by none other than the creator of IPL, Lumenis. So some people ask what is the difference between this machine and many other machines and treatments. Somethings that impressed me as someone new to it is that it is non-ablative despite running on a light technology and the treatment really helps with other things as well including skin rejuvenation, acne and a lot of specific facial conditions and problems that many of us are struggling with but don't even know the names for.
I wouldn't even be bringing this up if not for my friend's noticably lighter pigmentation marks and how this was the first treatment that showed marked improvement just within 2-3 sessions in comparison to the many others she tried in the past. Hope this helps!

I go for chemical or diamond peels sometimes, as well as photolight treatment facial, similar to ILP, but upgraded technology.
It helps lighten my pigmentation. My friend aesthetician helped him to do micro-needling, but have yet to try.

What I understand is that, if your skin is too dehydrated, you tend to get pigmentation easier. Also, sun-block is a must!

Hello,

Yes laser treatments do work. I've seen it on my very own friend herself. After going through the treatment herself, there were visible improvements on the very first day. But of course, a few more follow-up treatments would do much better. I believe the treatment makes use of IPL but I'm not too sure. If you guys are interested, just let me know and I'll ask my friend to find out more!

Have tried several laser treatments before in private aesthetic clinic which costs about $200 per session. Pigmentation were gone. But really have to apply tons and tons of sunblock to prevent them from showing up again.

I done my photo-light treatments or skin rejuvenation at $888 for 10 sessions at Orchard. Last about 20 mins/ session. Value for money.
It lightens my pigmentation and control/ retard the growth of pigmentations, but it is not totally gone.

Pigments can't be totally gone, but you get greater results with laser at doctors. You will need to apply numbing cream 1 hour prior and treatment over in 10 mins. My friend did it at Raffles Hospital for abt $500 (if I rem correctly), basically laser 'burnt' the pigment and will have scab. About 3-4 days will drop off. You will see your pigment lighten but it does not reduce 100%. Doctors don't guarantee that too, some may have reverse effects.

Even after doing the above treatment, you still need to put on sunblock diligently to maintain it.

Hello all BTBs & Babes, JTS something I shared at another forum here: I have a friend who had pores and pigment problems before her wedding. She went to this Dr Evan Woo who is a plastic surgeon to do laser treatment. Initially I thought, plastic surgeon must be damn pricey....but apparently it was very competitive to a lot of other aesthetic clinics I checked out. Think she spent like less than $1.5k for a course of 3 or 4 sessions and she said she saw quite a lot of improvements after just the first session!! For me personally I feel safer to get treated under an experienced doctor. Thus, I am gonna make an arrangement to consult the Dr Woo asap!!

Well for me PPP is quite convenient and affordable.
It does take more sessions than usual laser but i like it cos there is no downtime for me.
So life can go on. And each session is like only less than $15 if you get the package.

Oh and they staff don't hardsell which i am thankful of. Hate those spas always pestering me.

I notice pigments always appear 1 side of the face first. If you don't take care, it grows larger. Anyone has any natural tips to lighten or remove the pigment? I don't think i want to do laser..

Hi, go to doctors if you want to remove pigmentations. Don't believe what those beauticians tell you. I used to spend thousands of dollars on facials cos those beautician told me I got pigments, need to do whitening treatment, gold treatments, etc etc.... wah, spend so much pigments still there.

I've got very stubborn pigmentations too, cos my skin is very thin and i am very fair. So, very prone to pigmentaions if exposed to sun. Moreover, I used to play sports under the sun, never take care, never put sunblock.. Until I realised that my pigments had grown larger and larger, which makes me look like i was 40 yrs old, that i began to panic.

I went to National Skin Centre few months back and the doc gave me some retina cream and depigmentation cream. I applied and my pigments were gone within 2 months. Now I only need to apply as and when necessary, i.e. when I see faint spots appearing...

At first I thought I may need to go thru laser treatment too.. but doc say no need. I advise to go to a doctor, don't anyhow apply expensive cosmetic brand lotions. Cos cosmetic brands can only help that much, but can't totally remove. By the way, the creams from NSC were cheap. Results gauranteed.

And most most most importantly, must apply sunblock before leaving house... if you want to look pretty, you cannot be lazy

Thanks for the tips! Which doctor you see? Male or female ?

Thanks for the tips! Which doctor you see? Male or female ?

I think whether male or female is not impt, and whether old or new machine is not as impt either. The key is the experience of the doctor. I dont specifically ask for the latest technologyy, Pico Laser to fix my stubborn pigmentation. I research my doctor, look for reviews, and when i decide, i put my trust in him and go with his recommendation. I used to go to Dr Wee, in toa payoh. For the past few years, I go to Dr Daniel Chang in town.

A very simple doctor with no airs, I am very comfortable with Dr Daniel as he is very down-to-earth. His staff shared, he is the regional trainer for doctors, so I am assured of his expertise.

I know aesthetics do have some laser treatments that can help ... but i find it pricy..

right now im using a home device at home to deep cleanse my face and also using a device with galavanic current treatment.. much more affordable and i can use every 2 days. Can see results after 1month for my case =) i think we all have to take care our skin on daily basis. also rem to put sunblock.

If keen to know the device im using at home, can email me at [email protected] or 91778508.

Stay pretty girls

I used to put an exfoliant solution on my face and neck, it's from a popular brand, but I got worried because it caused my face to become itchy and have pimples. They said it was a normal side effect, afterwards the skin will peel and everything will be back to normal. After a few days, my skin did peel, but there was no improvement in my skin complexion. I never used the product again :D

I had better luck with professional treatments. Currently I'm getting IPL treatments with Dr Leo Kah Woon, and already I can see some improvements. Plus I feel safer and have more hope that the treatment is effective, unlike with my previous products that I had to wait and see if they work or not. I guess it really depends on the skin if a treatment is compatible :D
