Photo Montage software and song licence

I will be doing my own photo montage. Anyone has any nice and free software download site to recommend? Also, my hotel has provided me with a list of the songs for march in use. Does that means if i use the same songs for my montage, i need not worry about the song licence?

You can try iMovie. I think some hotel are quite strict with the song licence, but my videographer was telling me if i'm doing my own montage i can tag with their song license. Not really sure how all the song licence thing works :S

You will probably need two licenses for it: 1 is Compass and 1 is RIP (Recording Industry Performance).

COMPASS represents the copyright interest of composers, authors and publishers of musical works and their lyrics.
RIPS grants licences for public performance of karaoke and/or music videos owned or controlled by the record companies that they represents.

My advice is to hire someone to do the montage as for your own montage, you can still show it privately to your SO as a surprise wedding present.

I guess if the hotel has the song list for us means they would have gotten necessary licence. We might improvise by playing the montage and the song from them simultaneously

We going to do the montage together as a couple. Think it will be quite meaningful recalling the times and memories of the pics while we are doing it. And also to save money..LOL. Cutting down on wedding budget wherever possible since we are not so particular on most wedding stuff to have more for renovating our home later on.

Wow, planning to do up my own montage as well. didnt know there's so many licenses/copyrights issues behind it. :\
