speaking from the viewpoint of someone who used to be a moderator of a very dynamic forum, why not include a compulsory login feature before allowing postings? then you can ban users who consistently violate your rules. while it won't stop all inconsiderate postings, it will reduce them to some extent. just a suggestion.

anyway, keep up the good job Chin Leng! i know just how hard it is to be continually on the look out for slams and such.

But to register is like very troublesome leh. If I'm a new user I wld prob not join this website if it's compulsory to register myself...as I started posting as a non-registered user and grew to like this forum alot...altho I still fd it troublesome to register if it were made compulsory I will still do it cos I simply love this forum. Perhaps there can be a trial period? I dunno just a thot...I think there are pros and cons lah just have to weigh them properly.

I wonder if Chin Leng is the one doing this. If so, I think he's really gd...wat with the tracking of users posting with the same name etc...I'm impressed when I see that he even manage to dig that out hehe cos I'm an IT idiot....or maybe it's easy for IT experts by tracking the IP address or something...

Oops...have I diverted from the topic??

yah, i agree registering is troublesome. but i thought maybe it will deter people from posting defamatory remarks.

obtaining IP address can be very easy if the forum has been set to capture it. but you can't conclude it is the same person if two IP address is identical. this is because singapore ISP uses dynamic IP assigning. so you could end up with two different people with exactly the same IP address if they post at different times.

i feel that registering your users might reduce the no. of ppl coming inside this forum.

i like this forum becos i need not register myself. Maybe that is also the reason why lots of brides or brides to be come to this forum

yes, i don't doubt that registering might reduce the numbers. trade off between quantity and quality?

Hi all,

The forum has always been set-up with the objective to help people. We know that wedding preparations can be stressful at times and arguements between partners will happen from time to time.

We wanted to create a forum whereby wedding couples can easily post their frustrations and problems. We did not want to create an environment whereby there is a potential barrier for people to share their woes by having mandatory registration. We are more concern of people readily able to share their problems and getting support from the participants of this community.

We also like to offer a choice to users who visit the forum, whether they would prefer to register for a unique account.

That is why, till date, registration has been voluntary.

Regards,
Chin Leng.

Not sure where to post this question. How come the thread on this guy Pet, who is calling off his wedding cos he just can't stand his wife spending so much money, under the "Matters of the heart" is gone?

Hi Surprised and P,

The topic seemed to have gone missing. Would appreciate if 'Pet' can contact me at [email protected] to help provide some information for me to locate the topic in the system.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Chin Leng.

Hi, Chin Leng

Why the topic in Matters of the Heart 'Am I too much?' is gone? Just saw in the morning but nowhere to be found in the afternoon.

Chin Leng,

May I know how to remove own posting? I do not know where to post this question and do not want to start a new thread for this, so I just post it here. Maybe u can start a new thread on all the Q&As. We wanted to post some pics in one of the thread but do not want our pics to stay there forever, so would like to keep it active for only a few days, after which we want to remove it. Is that possible? If so, how?

Hi Fairymoss,

When you want to remove your posting, just contact me at [email protected].

This topic "How to improve SignaporeBrides.com?" which you've posted your query, is meant for the Q&As related to both SingaporeBrides and the forum.

Chin Leng,

I encounter this error " your posting is locked by another programme" (if I remember correctly), it occurs when I'm posting a message. Later, I realised my message came out twice (under anything under the sun: Bridal shops & services - Thomson Wedding Design).

I had occurred it before but today my posting appears twice. Please advise and delete my second posting.

Thanks.

Hi Bonjon,

No worries, the forum is actually being maintained daily and the duplicated postings will be removed when spotted. For non-duplicated postings, feel free to contact us if you require assistance to delete them.

Chin Leng,

Thanks! How come some of the brides say that u can remove own posting within 20 mins of posting? That's strange, coz I thot once posted cannot be removed unless the administrator help us to remove it. Please advise.

Hi Fairymoss,

The forum setting is such that the users can edit the message within 20 minutes of posting. For removal of messages, you'll still need to notify the administrators for assistance.
