Hi guys!!
I'm new to this forum. However, this is my go to place as I've decided to do my ROM in the next one to two months !

Some queries:

1) JP / Solemniser
Do you have any recommendation on which solemniser to use? I've booked my date with ROM first to secure the "slot". But I'm a Christian, and am looking into a venue to do my ROM. But I need a reliable JP. I've read some of your stories on how the guy last minute cancel. Can't afford that kind of headache.

2) Wedding band
my lovely bf designed a wedding band, and we are looking for a jeweler to make the ring. Any one has experience with this? We went to Fairy's Inc but they are a little on the ex side. And we bought our own stone as well, they won't help you set it if you have bought your stone yourself.

3) Planning a ROM & Dinner within 3 months
due to some personal reasons, I wish to ROM & have a dinner within the next 3 months, anyone has experience with this? Can share? Any nice but budget place for dinner for less than 20 tables? Was thinking of photoshoot, but don't think 3 months is enough time. I don't think the wedding will be super elaborate. any sharing will be appreciated.....

4) Alacarte wedding dress / Buying wedding dress online?
Anyone got experience with this? Heard from my friend from HK that you can purchase a wedding dress online for less than USD 200 and it's a steal! It looks gorgeous! The back is adjustable so it's like free size.

thank you for any help given!!!

Hi there,

1. Since you are a christian why not ask your church's pastor instead? probably better since you would know him/her better. Sorry, Can't help you here (mine is my pastor).

2. You can try the local jewellers, i know for a fact that TianPo does it, and they will make a quote for you. You can try those small shops in Lucky plaza, they do a good job too.

3. I attended a crazy wedding with just 1.5 months of planning, its doable lol. Forget looking for hotels its almost impossible. Maybe try Looking for restaurants instead, my friend held theirs at Marmalade Pantry. If you are open to western menu, there's really a lot of choices like Nosh, One Rochester, Halia, Tamarind Hill. If you would like chinese banquet type then maybe peony jade/ Peach Garden/ Joyden Hall/ Burkhill Hall.
Really depends on your budget.

Another friend recently held their ROM at Bishan Park, a floating round pavilion on the water, next to GRUB (Bishan side). that venue is FOC, and they rented some benches and chairs. A very simple affair. Then adjourned to Cornerstone also at Bishan Park (AMK side) for Tea dinner.

4. Try http://www.bhldn.com/ (US website) bought some stuff from there. Very nice dresses they have!
I only know of US based websites, don't know of any HK/ China based websites.
If you don't mind pre-owned dresses:

Hope I helped.

Hello!

1. Our solemniser was Mr Phua Tan Tee. If you are looking at a more humorous and not so serious ceremony, he is a good choice. It was probably the 1st time I paid attention to any solemniser's words at a friend's wedding and decided to get his contact. This is my personal opinion and definitely subjective as there are others who found him long-winded. Be prepared to spare at least 20 minutes for the whole ceremony.

3. ROM/Dinner - modernised or traditional (both Chinese menu)
- For a more more modern style dinner, I would recommend My Humble House http://www.myhumblehouse.com.sg/concept.php I especially like the idea of having more flexibility for the table arrangement, they provide non-round tables that can sit less or more than 10 persons.
- For traditional style, you may wish to consider Peony Jade @ Clarke Quay http://www.peonyjade.com/index_cc.html Good for those who are into oriental restaurant setting.

4. You may want to spend a little time catching good deals that some of our fellow brides post in the forum. I bought a few short tea dresses and evening gowns from here but ended up not wearing them at all as we engaged a bridal studio for their pre-wedding and actual day services.

Have fun planning! =)

I can't find their contacts on ROM, if you could, do you mind if I could have their number/email address? thank you!

ROM is only open to booking 3 months in advance from your preferred date of registry. You will need the particulars of the JP at point of booking, consent form is submitted during appointment for verification & statutory declaration , usually 1 day before actual day if solemnisation is done outside ROM.
