I am new to this forum. Decided to post this question on advice of a friend.
I have two young children and is seeking a divorce with my husband. My friend advise me to come out with a list of conditions for divorce to make the divorce process quicker and less costly.
After calculation, I am asking for 35% of his monthly salary. His take home pay is about $7k. So, this will translate to $2.5K to me and the children every month.
He said that he is only left with $1K after giving me $2.5k every month. I think this is the truth. Am I asking for too much? If he decides to contest, how much will the court determine?
Does anyone has any idea how maintenance are calculated?
