I oso thot I hv my own thread. But no leh. Not as 'notorious' as u.
I throw EVERYTHING tat can fit into the washing machine in. Yup, tat includes mixing. Will throw dishes in as well if only I dun get them back in many pieces. *eyes my dog*

ok on the topic...
yes just mix everything up, who cares? washing is washing... where got so much time to even go into the nitty gritty of mixing this and that. the only concern is perhaps no new clothes in case colour runs... or kids clothes wash separately due to chemicals... or delicate clothes wear separately to avoid damage...
concern of washing clothes is Clean, and undamaged. not abt who feels how it should be washed... seriously, got pple so free to fight over such matters meh?

Everything together except the socks.
Obviously you people have not seen the real aunty in action
a) Definitely cannot anyhow mix undergarment of male and female
b) Cannot mix white and light coloured clothing with dark coloured ones
c) Maid's clothing have to be wash separately from the rest
d) Socks separately - hand wash of course
e) Towel to be washed separately
Of course for practical people and to save cost we cannot follow the aunty standard. My only restrictions are not to wash dirty cloths (used for cleaning tables and floor) with the rest of the clothing. Socks to hand wash and the rest just go to the washing machine (with undergarment in protective nets)

okie,just started a family and my wife wash her undies with my clothing. Feel kinda weird as my mum dont do that.

Rafflesjay, listen to the "expert". My mum used to separate the darks from the coloured from the undergarments from the yadda yadda yadda. Of coz I inherited tat. Then my ex started to mix everything together in the washer. So my habits started to change as well. It's juz a matter of getting used to. Else ask ur wife to separate them lor.
Mix all clothes to be washed together except for my undies and white colour clothes... i will wash separately..
i have this pantang thinking that my undies cannot be washed with guys' clothing... heh heh... but of cos all ladies' undies in the family are thrown together to wash...

I have to do my own laundry as I am not staying with my parents.
1. Soak clothes in soapy water and rinsing them before putting them in the washing machine
2. Wash dark colour clothes separately
3. Handwash panties
I learnt from my mum. Since young she has taught me to handwash the panties. I prefer to handwash them as it is much cleaner.

Since i was married, i wash mine together with hb. When i was pregnant, its my hb who wash everything. We dont care so much as long as everything get cleaned and washed.

Laundry can be a very personal thing for some people. There is hardly a yardstick. If you are bothered, u are bothered by it. If not, then why bother.
In the nutshell, this thread really don't serve any purpose. And you cannot reference to personal habits of anyone else for you and your family.
