anyone can advise. I received a call and was offered a position in this govt entity and was informed to wait for 1-2 weeks whereby they are still finalising some paperwork approval. Another 2 days' time will 2 weeks since the last call but i havent receive any call from the HR yet. What am i suppose to do? I did call the lady last friday and she mentioned that they are still finalising the paper approval. I wonder why this can take such a long time and is this normal? Would it be possible that the company does not want to hire me anymore but didnt want to clarify?

And also does this shed some light on the company's operation?

what am I suppose to do now?

Hi Robocop, i already called then last friday but she mentioned still in process...i dont know if its good to call again.

From my personal experience, Govt works quite slowly in hiring process... I waited a full month for them to call me to sign appt letter, after they offered me a job.

Govt entity usually works very slowly. They quite snobbish about hiring (people are replaceable and there will always be tons waiting to replace the position) so they will not stoop to lying about status lah.

i mean why they can take so long....they havent even offer the salary so why need to put up paper for approval? wanted to confirm this as i wanted to tender soon as at the moment current company is doing this appraisal workplan and dont want waste my boss time....sigh...

Yes, they definitely need to put up the paperwork for hiring/recruitment. And several signatures are required, including HOD for the hiring to go thru...

there is always a risk...do you have an offer letter? or an email? at least something black and white.

Since they are seeking approval - there is always possibility that approval is not given.

So, do not pin all hopes on this...i mean if it comes well and good, if not...

just like the DBS case,if that ATM fails....

Not to worry, if they verbally informed you have been accepted but pending paper work, they will hire you. The hiring process takes longer as they need to get approval for the position and get the out-sourced organisation to prepare the Letter of appointment.

Call them again if you dun hear from them at the end of 2weeks as promised.
