Indian wedding Services in Singapore

Hi Sphire, sorry to hear abt yr grandma. 6 mths is a bit long isnt it? Cant she come home to rest? Thanks for the replies to my questions. So when will u be free gal..U seem v busy..hehe..

Hi Rany..so how? We'll postpone to when Sphire is free...or..? Btw i saw Her world brides, cldnt really make out much of Shanthi's make-up..i still havent confirmed with Shanthi..

Sphire - Don't worry about it, you haven't messed things up, girl. I do hope you're granny is recovering well and soon she'd be out of the hosp. Because I'm sure it must be quite taxing on you to be making daily trips there.

Chick - I'm easy. I've got the date free so if you'd like we can meet up. But I'm good with waiting for Sphire too. So what say you? ;)

Btw, I do agree that Shanthi's make-up was leaning towards the more natural polished look, rather than an evening diva look. Personally, I have a weakness for the diva look. It's a calling I missed. Hee!

Chick/Rany - Sorry again ladies. My grandma needs to go for an op to get her leg fixed. Just crossing fingers.
Y dont u girls meet up first? I cn meet up wif u some time again.
I like natural looks. I'm not really a makeup person. When Bubbly splashed makeup on mi, I couldnt really accept but his cousin was saying its nice. Shanti would be more my type.
Chick would u be goin for Shanti's trial beofre confirming her?

Dear Ladies, i am back
happy.gif
actually came back last thursday but i've been very sick since...still having fever and flu and since it's fasting month been feeling super lethargic. How are all of u?

My Delhi trip - let's just say it was severely disappointing cos the whole of delhi was on strike the day i left...so i never got a chance to buy my costume jewellery, bangles and all the knick knacks i so wanted to buy. other than that, i did manage to get my wedding sari and lengha
happy.gif

i have to say tho that things in delhi are super expensive! but the selection there is so good that it's worth making the trip. and if u go to the wholesale areas like chandni chowk,u get really good bargains. the season in delhi is way ahead of sg. i think stylemart sells stuff that is leftover from previous seasons.

i got my lengha from this place called ctc mall. my god! their selection is astounding! best place to go for lenghas and i swear after tt, u won't want to step into stylemart again
happy.gif

i also went to chawri bazaar for the wedding cards and i found the most beautiful card! parents n i loved it immediately. it's a lot cheaper to print it there.

i really enjoyed shopping in delhi. but u gotta noe the language and have the patience to bargain. otherwise it's quite an expensive place to visit.

i'll fill u guys in later. got meeting now! ciaoz babes!

PB - Great to hear from u again. Wow... sounds like you've got a wonderful experience. U've got good bargaining skills ah...kekeke. Possible to post ur wedding card on web? Interested to c it.

Hi ladies,

Can't tell you how releived i am to discover you guys.. My wedding is tentatively set for Aug next year and I haven't done anything as of yet.. Am getting really worried now esp after seeing how all you gals have confirmed yours etc etc.

My biggest worry is the venue... Am planning on doing a skih wedding in a hotel and as such would require veg food. Need to find a hotel that will let me do that plus allow me to cater from outside rather than them. Anyone has any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks heaps....

Hi Kismet - Welcome on board. Cant tell you which hotels would allow the whole ceremony.. Ritz would. All I know is tht hotels do not allow outside caterers.

hey gals... nice to read wats happening in your lives... Sphire hope your granny recovers and starts dancing soon.

Hello Kismet.. wow Sikh wedding in a HOTEL... tat's a rare sight. Well i'm sure it'll be great fun. I do not think any hotel allows external caterers due to bla bla bla policies. But Orchid country club has no objections and they hv a huge ballroom...can accommodate upto 1000 guests. You might wanna consider tat.

Hey PB... great u enjoyed ur Delhi adventure and yes pls do let us have a look at ur card.

SK, my apologies abt the henna artist... do not remember who it was. It was a package thing from my fren's MUA but i dun thing was a fantastic job so dun bother...lets keep sharing and find someone GREAT.

Gals do you mind sharing theme ideas wid me. Cant think of any themes. And yes have not got the location yet...stress.

Hey gals another thing....help me wid my honeymoon planning.....c;mon suggestions suggestions suggestions......tat's my priority, wanna confirm tat by the end of the year and not worry abt it until i start to do my packing'wink wink'

Thanks Sphire.. Have been facing loads of probs with external caterer so might have to resort to just in house catering...

Anyone know of any good packages with the hotels.. looking at high tea more than dinner...

AprylBride: Yup.. sikh wedding in a hotel.. this is gonna be intresting. lol.. prob is the temple that i go to will not allow me marrying a non-sikh there.. don't ask... so just sticking to a hotel instead... As for honeymoon.. my fav's would be Maldives, NZ or Tahitti.. friends of mine went to Tahitti for their wedding.. and they loved it! otherwise FIJI is a brilliant holiday spot too...

Thanks once again

Hey kismet...depending on budget!!! U may wanna look at Hyatt...actually havin a High tea buffet at their Balinese Garden wld have been excellent but i understand it's gonna be close for reno next yr. Hey just check anywayz. Went for a wedding dinner there recently and like any gal, the bride wanted an outdoor wedding so the compromise was dinne rin ballroom followed by mingle while piggin out on the wonderful desert spread...Sorbet, choc fondue, etc etc etc...mouth watering. It was really nice cos everyone was standing ard chit chatting and takin pictures.

Well from wat i understand Hyatt has one of the best Indian cuisine so give them a call.

Another option is Shangri-La or Pines...

Yup looking at Maldives for now but not sure of resort...too many options...Tahiti uhhhhhhhhhhh i think i'd rather do something nearby for now. Fiji keeping it for later. Other then tat i am considering Mediterranean Cruise.

Still open to suggestions.

Thanks AprylBride.. yes Budget is everything.. sob sob.. not even sure what my budget is yet... Hoping to keep it between $50 to $60 per head for high tea.. expecting a crowd of 500 pax so it would deff have to be standup... Venue is everything eh.. only once that is deceided then can everything follow suit...

Open to other places too.. looking at Country clubs too, gonna have to go check out Orchird etc etc.

Honeymoon planning must be sooo fun.. crazy suggestion but i know someone who had their honey moon in Sri Lanka as they stayed in the best resorts etc etc and they loved it.. but i'd go for the Maldives. Don't know if this will help http://www.asiatravel.com/maldives/maldives.html

Thanks again

Hi Kismet
Venue - why not try Raffles Town CLub. They have a huge ballroom, can accomodate up to 600pax sit-down. Very grand ballroom, and I dont think they are as expensive. Shld be withing $40 for High-Tea.

All - Have you gals found a good henna lady. I know of one who's done for all of us in the family. Really good. Pakistani lady. Gimmie your email, i will give you her contact no.

PG & VG - phew, settled. Two more big things to go, Caterers and Deco.

Gals - need your suggestion on MUA. I have a MAU for AD provided in my bridal package. But not sure if they will be good enough for my Indian outfit. What do you girls think?

Honeymoon - Hawaii will be an excellent desti too...

Hey fusion_bride....i wan i wan Henna contact email me at [email protected]

You are rite RTC is great but u cant get ur own caterer.

Caterers:- Cuisine???? Indian try Riverwalk, Bombay cafe, Vansh, Moti Mahal. Fusion try Rasel or Criston (for some funny reason cannot spell the actual name..but hope u get the hint). used them for company functions and pretty gd.

Decor.... I'm still sourcing too. But Rany gave pretty good sources recently in this thread.

Honeymoon...been to Hawaii oredi. And agree it's excellent but i have only 1 week for honeymoon so dun wanna go too far. looking at Sri Lanka as per Kismet's suggestion.

Hey gals... all gearing up for honeymoon?..keeke

AprylBride - Thanks for the post on my grandma. She jus had her leg mended on yesterday. Hope things are getting fine.

Kismet - OCC is good. Looks grand too. Looked at it when it was not decorated,... amazing. Hyatt is good for indian food. Wht ur no of pax? Probably Raffles Hotel for a private lot? But if u wanna hotel, u got to move fast lady.

Ladies... mi thinking of Mauritius for my honey. Still gonna wait for final costings....*sweat*

Hey fusion bride.. mee too for the henna contact. email: [email protected]

Thanks for the suggestions people.. am planning on going crazy on deco..love fresh flowers esp indian style (jothi flowers) so any hall should be suitable..
But would love to have more ideas on deco..

Sphire, am looking at a min of 500 pax but it could be alot more knowing both my fam and my inlaws..

Planning on using Jothi Flower Shop for the fresh flowers.. can tell them exactly what you need and want and they'll deliver. Have seen their work before, really nice.

Otherwise, for my wedding dais, am planning on renting one from the muslim decoraters.. they are actually rather good.should consider...

Also, am taking a trip to Bangkok in Nov and India in March to source out deco and India for wedding shopping.. I love planning my own deco, my freinds and i have done it for many weddings before plus did it for my sisters wedding too...

some malay decoraters, http://www.weddingsutera.com/engageus.htm
http://zitakbridal.urusanpengantin.com/dekorasi.html

am planning to walk around arab st etc etc to look around, will let ya know ya. Just got to be careful to keep indian in mind.

Hi Ladies,
How are u girls doing? I have been reading yr comments and suggestions...sorry i have nothing to contribute at this moment...feel outta touch with my wedding plans....hehehe...I have a couple of weddings coming up in London too..Hopefully i can get some inspiration...

Hi Fusion Bride,
can u email me the Henna Artist's contact no at [email protected]
Thanks dearie! BTW have u seen her work?

Hi Sphire,
Take care of yr granny...Hopefully she has a speedy recovery!

Wow..a lot of activity in here..Welcome Kismet..Erm from yr name, are u by any chance Amrit's sister?

Hey Rany, can we postpone the meet-up this fri to sometime next week? I'll b on course at grand plaza park royal whole of next week, so maybe we can even do a weekday meetup, currently work in AMK so lazy to go town on weekdays..hehe...also i will be going chennai on 8th, so mayb we mite wanna go recce cards or wat, so can check out pricing/designs when i am there? Wat say u? Lemme noe k..

Fusion Bride - which VG did you sign-up? As for MUA, i've got the MUA from the BS as well. I am not sure how well they do the tan skin tones, but you do have a trial dont u? You can make up your mind after that i suppose. Thats what i am planning to do..

Wah all the honeymoon talk.....Would love to go one of the beachy places like Maldives, etc but FH wants to go Greece, Turkey or Egypt..so we'll see how..it will prob boil down to costs eventually...

hi kismet - small world indeed....dunno if u still remember me, used to hang out with TJ gals, mary n theresa...M the old bride here..haha..Congrats on yr wedding, amrit told us he's a very nice guy when she was down in June..

oh wow.. congrat.. deff remember you sherin. congrats to you too.. amazing how you put two and two together.. suprised actually.. hehehe...so your wedding is at raffles the plaza.. thats great.. dont' mind me asking, how much are you paying per head. this wedding is stressing me out more than i know and my fiance is in melbourne so having to do alot myself. please email me the details if poss.. [email protected]

hey chick 77 - walked around arab st in search of deco. But nothing fantastic. But then again, i was there on sunday, half the shops were closed. Let me know if you see anything.

They are having a bazaar at the open field too, but seriously...nothing too helpful for a wedding.
Golden Landmark is equally pointless.

Heard there will be a wedding fair in Nov/Dec...you get all the deco companíes there with great deals. Try looking out for that.

Henna's contact details coming up. Waiting for mum to come back from dinner. She has the number.
Seen her work on my cousins and sis-in-law. She's good. Talk to her daughter over the phone, she will send you pics of her work.

Chick - yes, i have a trial session. So i guess i'll just have to decide afterwards. Just that they will neevr be able to help you with all the indian acceories and the dotted bindi stuff on the forehaed, which i so want.

For VG, i signed up with Treasur* (e) productio. Not too reasonable, but great work. They did for my frens wedding recently.

Hello ladies,

I'm a newbie here and looking for some help with a makeup artist. I'm more into a natural, fresh-faced look. I read a bit about Shanti and LOOKS. Could someone provide me with contact and price details? My fiance and I are planning a pre-wedding photoshoot next month, so I'm thinking of having a trial makeup done that day before we take pictures. Is this a good idea?
My email is [email protected].
Thanks!

WOw!! Din expect lots of inputs.

Gals,.. thanks for ur concern. My grand had her op on Tues. She looks good. But she still doesnt know tht she went for a op. She only claims that she was sleeping.

Fusion_bride - Dont ever consider RTC. I was so into booking it for my banquet. Loved that place. It looks like a palace from outside. Everytime my FH drives past, I always tell him that we shd hv it here. When everything was falling into plan, the banquet team jus had to spolit it. The team sucks a big time. They jus treat indians like shit.
Cld I hv the henna lady contact too.. thanks. [email protected]. BTW do u knw her charges?
The shops in arab street does close early. Or u cold also try Tanjong Katong Complex at Geylang. They hv a few there too.

Notredame - Welcome gal. I guess trial makeup is always to c if u r comfortable with the MUA and her skills. If u do it a day before, would it be too rush if u need changes?

Hi, has anyone ever used sahelibridal for their makeup or know anything about them? am thinking of trying out with them. Also would like to have Shanti's number if anyone has it please. Thanks

Hi Sphire... RTC left such a bad impression on u..wow. Honestly i love the architecture of the plc too...tat was my 1st choice for my luncheon but later due to cost...budgeting budgetin budgetin....... i gave it a miss.

Gals, if you are really interested in the plc you should get in touch wid the GM and voice your concerns...i did tat when i didnt get any response initially. Mr Ali is really nice and i think they just changed the team again... team change happens quite a bit in the F&B/Hotel line, doesn't it.

Still looking for venue for luncheon and gals if you've booked Oriental can i hv ur views pls. Pls tell me all abt wat i can squeeze out of them. Saw the hotel and fell in love....but find them a little rigid on freebies.

AprylBride- The guy handled mi was the banquet manager, Alastair. Good tht they changed the team. Else they'll be loosing half the business with a manager like him to head the team.

Oriental is extremely rigid. Wht u get eventually depends on wht u give up. A tit for tat. Their package was alomst everything i need. Din really fight for alcohol has mine gonna be alcohol free. Both families non-drinkers. Replaced some item for changes of better dishes. Still topped up a little $$$. Thumbs up for service. After got battered by RTC and Inertcontennial, FH and I were lookin for more service oriented plc. Oriental and Hyatt stood out very clearly. Hyatt was becos of ballroom. Else it would be Hyatt instead.

aprylbride.. if your still intrested in cruises, just received a phamplet from my travel agent with some deals. give me your email add, and i'll forward it to u ya..cheers

Hi Kismet, funny calling u this..hehe..M paying 928 per table at RTP, but its the chinese 9-course dinner on a saturday, think the Indian menu is the same price as well and i dont think there are as famous as Hyatt for indian food. Do you plan to have it on weekend or weekday cos weekday pricing is much cheaper..if you need more details on my package, let me know k. Actually how about Conrad or Marriot? For hi-tea, package is about the same everywhere between 50-70. Shanthi's number is: 96697934

Fusion Bride - u r right, the BS MUA probably wont be able to help u with the traditional indian stuff. U mite wan to ask them what u can exchange it for..like more pics?? My case is slightly different - cos i have temple n church wedding - i will get indian MUA for temple and for church/dinner, i will consider whether to go with BS or Indian MUA. Can you share the package for your VG please? My email is [email protected]

Sphire..Din noe ur grandma was going for OP so soon..Good to know she's better, even better that she cant remember the whole thing :-)

Chick: Thanks for posting Shanthi's no.

Sphire: What do you mean by needing changes? I thought the artist would try out different colors and stuff during the trial itself so that at the end of it you like what you see? This is pure conjecture btw...

What about Makeup Forever? Anyone get a makeover from them?

Chick - We din knw either. My mum went to the Hos and found that my grand was in op theater. Gald tht its alrite now.

Notredame - I knw my friends went for like 2 trials cos the chinese jus cant get the right colours... So this is wht i'm told y my friends. Go for trial at least 2wks before. Incase u go home and decide u need a different set of colour tones.

Fusion Bride- Cld I hv the VG package too...thanks. [email protected]

Sphire - Yeah, I agree with Chick, good that your granny didn't even realise she went for an op. Glad to hear she's well now.

Chick - No worries! Next week is fine with me. Anyday except Monday and Thursday. If you want to recce cards, I guess we'll prob need to be in Little India for that right? Sure, not a problem. Actually, I'm just 2 buildings away from Grand Plaza Parkroyal. So it's going to be very convenient for the both of us!

Fusion - Can I have the henna lady's contact and sample pictures too? My email add is [email protected]

PB - Great to hear you got some good bargains in Delhi. Hope you've recovered from your fever and flu by now.

Notredame - Trial the day before the shoot is a bit of a rush so you might want to go with Sphire's suggestion of a trial 2 weeks before. Let's say you're not happy with it, there's still time to look for another MUA. ;)

Well I just spoke to Shanthi. She seems nice. I have a D&D on Oct 13 so i thought maybe i could have someone do my makeup and hair. She quoted a price of $150, which she admitted herself was exorbitant. She said it's because of the travelling involved. Hmm..

She also gave me the no. of another makeup artist called Suji...anyone try her?

Anyway I received another quote from Sandy Ho, her price is $80.
Check out her work: http://sg.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/sandy_bibi/album?.dir=/68cfscd&.src=ph&.tok=phvv3fFBYgPn_BWN

So who should I go for?

Rany- thanks lady. Yup.. not knwing the op is good for her.

Fusion - the henna work looks great. Lots of effort and creativity.

Notredame - Not sure who's Suji. Looking at Shanti's works and The experience of other brides here with her, I think Shanti is a very natural look MUA. Which i'm leaning more to her now. Mmm.. sandy's too i guess. Y not go for trial with everyone? Becos u wanna be confortable on ur wedding day. U cld set 1 of the trial on your D&D and they dont need to knw. Opps... a bit of cheating here.

Rany: I guess you're right. If only i had a face that didn't need makeup!

Sphire - Yea i thought of pulling that prank and asking for a trial on the D&D. But she's working and I need to get to the event by 6pm. And I need someone to do my hair since i'm hopeless at putting it up. I could try with Sandy but I dont wanna end up looking funny at the D&D and i dunno if she'll do the hair. Also I'm going for a slightly more dramatic look, which I wont have for the wedding.

Hi Rany, kewl, tues or wed works for me 2 cos i'll hv to go bk to office on thurs n fri..Will confirm the day on mon can? M easy, we dun hv to look at cards..actually i wont noe wat to look for..haha..

Hi Sphire..my FH actually did something for once..he called william saravenan..haha..We r supposed to meet him soon, apparently he was disappointed that we chose edmund for the church/banquet..He also recommended some VG, will let u know once i noe who it is..

Fusion Bride..thanks for the VG contact details..bit out of my budget..Am actually narrowed down to Kevin from Yap*ies or Ernest/Mirror..

Notredame - havent heard of Suji..Sandy looks not bad...but then again depends on how she's gonna blend colours...Agree with Sphire..can try a few..

wow! i finally found you guys!! i was googling for days and days on anything to do with indian weddings in singapore and found absouletly nothing that was helpful. n i just so happened to click bridal boutiques and services on the forum n tada!! finally!! was almost coming to the conclusion that not many indian gals surf the net!! but am so glad i was wrong!

well just to say a few words abt myself.. am getting rom next year september or oct. havent fixed the actual date yet. was thinking i am planning too early ahead but guess im wrong! hehe. but just wanna start early cos dont want to be too stressed b4 the wedding.

i was dead set of doing my rom at botanic gardens but apparently i heard they arent doing roms there anymore..
sad.gif
so sad.. now im thinking of getting shangri la for my solemnization cermony. anyone considered that place?

thanks gals!

Hi gals...how are ul doing...been really busy past few weeks trying to source out interior designers and discovering all the underhanded tactics they employ...sigh...

chick: really sorry i have not been able to get back on the printers; mum in law forgot the name of the printers and they din seem to leave their name on anything...but ive got their email add which they sent the proof copy from...would u like to email them and ask for the location and samples perhaps? could u pm me ur email ad then i can forward it to u...so sorry abt that...

hi lisa if u r considering something like botanic gardens for ur rom...then consider one rochester...my friend did it there and the ambience was lovely...

Hi Lisa....infinte....one rochester looks amazing..sad dun have any events i can hold there!!!! Lisa go try tat plc. By the way the gazebo at Botanical Gardens is open for solemnisations only prob cannot have tables/chairs...u can only hv picnic style.

Hey infinite u toking abt interior designers for ur home izzit!!!! share ur experiences so the rest can be careful....

Thanks infinite and Aprylbride! i sure will check out tt place.

anyone has pics of Shanti's make up to share? me thinking of getting her to do my ROM makeup since i read that hers looks v natural. Can some kind soul share with me samples of her make up plssssss?

thanks gals!

hi Lisa, welcome on board..sorry havent been to shang for any ROM..But here's a couple of other suggestions:
1) orchid gdn - heard its quite nice
2) the lawn at raffles hotel - think infinite had her ROM there
3) Goodwood / Amara - think there's a poolside place

Agree...One rochester looks v pretty, but i think it'll depend on yr guest numbers..

Hi Infinite, no worries, i've already PM u. In case u dont get it, can email to [email protected] please...Thanks..Btw, do you know which shop yr PIL's got the wedding saree from?

Hey Rany..Think its looking more like Wednesday for me.......Anyone else here interested in catching up on wedding preps..or anything under the sun?

Hey girls!

Fusion - Thanks heaps for your email. The pics are a wee bit small but they look really good, very intricate!

Chick - How about Tues, girl? Little India is fine with me. We can try Gemini Printers (Mabel mentioned it once) to see what's on offer and you can go to Bombaby knowing what's available in SG. ;) You can email me your contact and I;ll sms you mine? My email add is [email protected]

ALL - if anyone feels like catching up with us over dinner on Tues and looking at invitation cards, feel free to join us.
happy.gif

Btw, anyone inserting info of banquet into their actual wedding invite? How do you phrase it and at which point of the invitation text do you insert the bit on banquet?

Lisa - Are you talking about Burkill Hall?? Really? No more weddings and solemnisations?? One Rochester is really gorgeous but if you want the place exclusively for your event and if your event is in the evening, it'll cost you a bomb!

Ooops!!

Chick - Didn't see your message. I guess we posted about the same time. Sure, Wed it is then. I'll email you my contact.

Notredame - Haven't heard of Suji. But $150 is quite pricey. But I guess it's the full-do. From what I understand, her trials mostly focus on the make-up. She'll style your hair but it'll be a soft-style approach i.e little if none hairspray to keep the hair in shape. Basically she does enough to show you how you'll look with the particular hairstyle. So I guess that's why the full works cost that much.

Hey chick: uve got mail
happy.gif
and gotta ask my MIL where she got the sari from if she remembers...cos she went all over to get so many saris for all her sisters and sister in laws as well (she has one whole luggage filled with saris! so hope she remembers...
and nope i didnt do it at the lawn...did my rom in the east india room and it was an extra bonus cos the huge pretty fountain area came FOC with the room so they can set up ur solemnization or rom outside and then proceed inside for the food...but drawback is that it can only hold 120-150ppl

Aprylbride: yeah sourcing out for designers for the house and realized that there are so many hidden costs that they dont mention in the quotation initially to u...so have to be careful and ask exactly the specifications of what they are doing including the dimensions of the tv console and exact material used for example...cos if not they can just say later that the quotation only meant for ugly colours/material and u have to top up more if u want it to your liking...if u need any info feel free to ask

rany: mabel certainly didnt like any of the cards at Gemini printers cos she said she found them too old fashioned...
and one rochester u can book it for high tea and the place looks really nice at that time (resort like) and cost is cheaper...my friend only spent abt 6k plus for abt 120ppl with food and champagne and limited bottles of wine...she booked it 3-7 and after 7 guests can still stay on and mingle though it will be open to outsiders after that as well...
and as for invitation card...usually i see ppl giving two different cards cos not all the ppl coming for the temple wedding will be invited for the banquet...but if u are, then how abt a separate page listing details of the banquet if it is on a differentt day?
