Actually they don't have much choices also... Becoz church wedding will most prob be 07 Dec. But we couldn't get any venue we wanted for that date. 08 Dec was the alternative date.

Hi Jessica,

I had my AD at Hyatt Mag/Van in Dec 09. The experience of having my AD there was largely positive. Quite good reviews about the food (and i had a specially crafted full vege banquet). The puzzling thing though was that while about 95% of my guests raved about food quality, ambience and service, there was a small 5% that slammed it all down and said that the food was horrible, service was poor, and generally didn't think it was that good.
my hubby and I decided that it's cos these ppl had unrealistic expectations of a hotel banquet, or were jealous that it turned out to be so well-planned, smooth execution of everything by Hyatt staff, that they just had to slam something!

generally my hubby and I had a very good experience with the Banquet Captain who was a replacement for our AD, cos the original one assigned was on MC. I wonder if it turned out to be a blessing in disguise because the replacement Banquet Cap was so meticulous, so clear in his instructions, and i would describe him to be: "there when u need him, not there when not required", to put it super bluntly. The sound crew was amazing, we had a couple of CD, DVD and equipment swaps throughout the banquet, which required sharp coordination. The sound crew (inclusive of 1 of the groomsmen just to oversee) was fantastic. No hiccups there.
The solemnisation in Sir Henry Keppel 2 before banquet was also nicely done. Sound system provided for even though we didn't request. (I'm mentioning this because my fren was given a surprise 15mins before her solemnisation in an outdoor park, that a sound system i.e. microphone, wouldn't be provided because it was not in her contract. to set the record, after that when she checked, it's actually supposed to be included.)

All in all, everything was smooth and we are super glad we chose Hyatt as our AD venue.

Hey Pebbles,

Thanks so much for the assuring post and congrats on the success of your big day.

I am indeed a clueless btb, have not started any preparations for my AD in 2011. LOL

Anyway, i was wondering what you meant by having your AD in Mag/Van room. U mean you combined these two rooms for your banquet?

Btw, were your guests blocked by the pillars as well?

Thanks so much for sharing your experience!

happy planning for ur big day. when in 2011 is ur AD? for us, we started looking around for hotel almost 1.5yrs before our AD. but that was also cos our AD was a hot date.
oh ANyway it's called Magnolia Vanda because it's 6 function rooms combined into 1. for small events like seminars, it can be in rooms like Magnolia I i.e. Magnolia room divided into 3.
n yes, they were blocked. we requested for the cable for the LCD screens behind to be switched on tho.

Hi all,

I am intending to sign up with Hyatt for my wedding banquet in 2011 and I understand that there will be a bridal showcase upcoming in Mar'10.

Anyone knows how frequent Hyatt has bridal showcase? And what are the extra perks in the past? Any attractive ones to look out for?

Any comments on Hyatt in terms of the food, bridal room, wedding favours, cards & their service to share?

My wedding was at Hyatt in Dec 08. I signed up during the showcase in Jan 08, and felt the perks were pretty worthwhile.

Among the additional perks were things like a one-night stay for the helpers (my jie-mei enjoyed that night playing wii in the hotel room) and best of all a free 2-night stay in a Hyatt hotel in the region. My husband and I redeemed that voucher at the Bangkok Hyatt last year. We also had a complimentary anniversary one-night stay in the Grand Suite back in the Singapore Hyatt end of last year.

I can't recall whether the complimentary bottle of wine per table is part of the showcase perks, but I think that's one of the more attractive perks, especially if you know your guests enjoy drinking.

My overall impression of Hyatt is extremely positive. The service was good, I never needed to feel worried about the set-up or other logistics. They were also not calculative about minor expenses, such as additional parking coupons. Our guests were pleased with the food, and up to today, my in-laws are still glowing over the standard of Hyatt's food. They only had food for wedding favours (pralines and cakes), but we decided that we only wanted to give edible favours, anyway. So that suited our needs. Their cards are not so exciting, though. We printed our own personalised cards
