I have some recommendations on preserving wedding gowns;
1. Hang your gown in padded hangers and store your dress in a wedding dress garment bag made of breathable material.
2. Always store your dress in dark and cool place where humidity and exposure to light remain constant. Exposure to light will discolour the fabric and your gown will turn yellowish very soon.
3. Never store your dress in plastic bag as it will damage and stain the fabric over time.
3. Always check your gown every 6months for any discolouration, growth or abnormalities.
4. After your wedding day you should send your wedding gowns for professional dry cleaning within 6months.The sooner your wedding dress is cleaned the higher chance that heavy stains can be removed completely.
5. Store your wedding dress in acid free storage box or any box with your wedding dress covered with acid free papers after the dree is cleaned.
