i think one way to cut down wedding expenses is to engage a wedding planner. most of my friends laughed at me for saying this but i think it's true, though you have to pay to get a wedding planner, i think a good planner will help you save a lot during the whole wedding process with their contacts and creative ideas. just my 2 cents worth.

sometimes wedding favours are wasteful. I have several keychains/chopsticks/toy bears, etc from weddings which I have attended, lying around that one is using.

I DIY most of my stuffs too... it's better... u got more control of wat u want. I din have a bridal package... i got a designer to do a wg and eg for me at bridal world in amk central(beside KFC) at abt 1k ea. design u have to come out with wat u like first then she can help u with it. service is good also. and the gown u get to keep it. i got a fren photographer who help me do the shoot and ad. mmm charges i cannot reveal la...cos fren charge lower... he very good photographer...for me i din print the album...so i requested for all the softcopies... so i get hold the control to do my own slideshow... so dun need to buy pictures one by one so save alot lo. then i intend to do a diy album with my htb together as a memorial. i got a mua at $488 incl ampoule too...very nice mua. i did my own hongbao box as well as ring pillow... cos it's quite costly to get one. so i diy on my own...so just put on wateva deco u like... thinking to diy wrist corsage for my sisters too... cos fresh flower will die, so i find it wasteful... so i want to use ribbons all this to do...unless i can get reasonable prices for wrist corsage lo... tt's abt it ba... heheh

Hi like precious, alot of my stuffs are DIY. I DIY my own wedding favors ( takes up quite a bit of time as I had about 320 guests ), ang pao box ( I used my own forever bears and ribbons left over from my wedding favors ), corsages, wedding website, wedding slideshow.. with the help of my sisters. I also managed to get back all the softcopies and thus I did not ask to print more than what was given to me for my wedding album.

I also borrowed my bro-in-law's car to be used as a bridal car. I borrowed a video cam from my friend and got my sis's bf to help take the video instead.

Hi precious,

Can I have a look at your photo? Or can ask your friend to e-mail me his rate and if got any photo to view his works?

hi mysotic, i can let u view some of the photos.... can u give me ur email address? I'm not sure of his rates... maybe u see the photos first then u let me know if u interested...

Hi all!

Great thread. Just starting to plan my own wedding in exactly one year and I find this really useful...

Maybe one advise from my friend who married last year: try not to mention that whatever you enquire or intend to buy is for your wedding. Make up other stories for whatever celebration it's for. As soon as the shop hears wedding they add add add...
I once went for a make up and hair thingy for an evening out. It cost me 40 SGD. One month later my friend enquired the same lady for her wedding makeup - 350 SGD!!!

If you can't avoid stating that it's for a wedding (e.g. super early make up can't just be explained to be for a dinner party

) then say it's for ROM only and not for the big fancy celebration... Tell the fancy one is only a year later. They won't know, right?

hehe

I agree with x-ta-Z (xtaz)! A very good example would be bouquet of flowers... for the same bouquet, the bridal bouquet price is really exorbitant!

Another excuse for make up would be for a friend's wedding or D&D.
