Hi everyone,

What do you think is a reasonable amount to spend on wedding cards? Looking forward to your comments!

hi k,
i think as little as possible, coz really...hardly anyone will remember it. FYI, i paid $90 to print 300 inserts (gold matt printing on ivory paper) for the card the hotel provided. I then spent $168 to buy another 100 cards (with printing and envelopes included) for a separate event.
cheers.

Hi gwnn,

I know what you mean. For hotstamping, how much would it cost? I think it looks better but if it is too expensive, like you said, there isn't much point to it.

Hi k,
i remember when i asked, matt printing made much more sense. maybe u can check with Hitech (that's where I did mine) for their hotstamping rates. 6458 9455
actually before i found out the rates, i never realized hotstamping is the more exp version, coz both methods looked okay to me.

hi k, there aren't many people who appreciate the beauty of invitation card. I mean, lets be honest about it.

If you want your guest to have fond memories for your card, either you spend a BIG bomb on it or just the average one.

Hi,

I have free cards from the hotel and i'm printing the inserts on my own, plus tying with ribbon & a real photo in the card. It came up to abt $1 per card.

Actually, if the cards from the hotel are nice, you can print inserts on your own.

What my friend did was to photostat her wording onto translucent paper. Then stick it inside the cards. Looked really good.

hi, i spend close to 1.5k onmy wedding cards.my guests think it is nice.

I spent abt $150 for almost 400 inserts in colour. I design and printed them myslef using a ink jet printer.

I think too that most guests dun appreciate the beauty of invites and won't keep them unless it is a special one like Mandy's Disc holder.....

Thanks for your comments! I am hesitant in printing my own inserts because of the chinese wordings...

I have free cards from my hotel, so I only spent aound $200 for the inserts(150pcs), ribbons & stickers.

Cheers:

I spent more than $500. The card was quite simple but worth it coz I received comments from people who thought it was very meaningful.

The cover had a "photo" of us as toddlers, and of course, our names below. We gave the designer our separate photos and they did their PhotoShop magic. The end result looked quite good - looked as if we were really posing for a picture together. Helped that we looked really cute in the photos.

Hi Callisto,
Photos of the toddler "you"s ...that's a briliant idea? I am also exploring something of that sort...can you show me a sample to [email protected] ?

Hi Callisto,

SOrry ah..think my mailbox full too full cos a fren sent a large attachment, but cleared now.

Hi Orchid, Linda,
Glad to know you printed the inserts yourselves, bcos i'm planning to do the same....
happy.gif
but i wonder what ink color and fonts to use.... can you advise? if possible can share your softcopy of the insert with me please?
U can reach me at [email protected]

Thanks!!!

Callisto,

Hi, wonder how is your invitation card look like.Is that possible for your to e-mail me your invitation card to hv a look.

hi,
I spent about S$200 for 135 cards insert and extra cards. All my inserts are laser print (black color), inorder not to make the cards so plain, I'm thinking of making a red color chop that symbolise "xi" in chinese characters. Anyone know where abt to get the ready make chop or who actually do such chop?

Hi all

i got a problem here, i do not know whether my printing company charges me high for my 300 cards

1) Red cards, normal gold printing.... the hotstamping ones, she said hotstamping has to be done as matt cannot be seen ??!! more ex ... my card is deep red ( HIPV)

2) Cream cards, same, no inserts

She charged me $220 for above, another $80 for additional mould for mum, that sums up to S300

I too ordered another personalised printing tag to be attached to my chopsticks for 330 pairs ( $130 plus tying)

Total : $430

Quite costly right ?

Am i being conned ? Monies not paid yet, except $20 deposit .

Please advise, wedding is at 23 March, still in time for printing right ?

Hi BEAR, I am Annie from the other thread. I also thinking of getting nice cards but my colleagues' advise is that most of your guests will most likely throw them away after the wedding...

so they feel no point spending too much...I am still contemplating, hehe...would like to have nice elegant cards, esp for my church wedding

I agree that people wld not keep nice cards too, that is why i m thinking of keeping my cards to the bare minimum

I rather u spend it on elsewhere eg gown, photos, food.

Hi BEAR,

Since you already have the cards, you can get nice paper and print it on your own deskjet printer. you can get the papers from Fancy Papers opp Bras Basah. that's what i did for my cards, even included map. the trick is in the paper you use. saved me alot and looks good too. only 20 cents per card (for the paper) & had to change printer cartridge once.

but you will need time to do this - my room became printing & cutting 'shop' for at least 2 wks! haha... i enjoyed doing it and felt very satisfied when they were done.

As for the tags, it comes up to about 40 cents per tag. i think its quite OK since it includes tying.

Hi! Just passing by and thot I'd share my experience.

If you're looking at standard card printing and making, it should not cost a lot to get them done. Whatever you managed to save on printing will be a tiny fraction of what you would be spending on bridal package or wedding banquet. So it doesn't make sense to harp on it too much.

I wanted to make my own cards from the start so I did just that. But to save time, each card was an A4 coloured paper folded into three sections. On the inside you'll see Chinese invitation on top, English invitation in the centre, and programme at the bottom. I had a programme becos we did solemnization before the tea reception. If you have no programme, you could insert pictures that you like or want, or even the map.

On the outside, I drew and scanned a picture on the front cover (found on the net) - this is top flap. The second flap that you see once the cover is opened was printed with a theme using wordart. I used A Knotty Affair (as in tie the knot). The back of the card was simply our names and the wedding date. I also made a ribbon to stick on the cover of each card to make it look 3-D (idea from the net again).

It took sometime to get the first copy right - position of the pictures and words etc. But once the alignments are done it's just printing, sticking, folding and writing the guests' names. My friends liked the card. They may not keep it but that didn't matter. I just wanted something personal and it will be kept in my wedding album for keepsake.

I made 200 cards and changed cartrdige once. Cost depends on what you use for the paper, ribbons and other accessories. You can also use lace, beads.

I've learnt that if you wanna make your own card, you must first know what you want to put on it. And you must make them in the easiest/least hassling way to save time (and sanity if you have many cards to make).

I'm very tempted- my hotel has enough cards I think for me.
I need to do inserts, think there are 2 important "portions":

* English invit words, Chinese invit words- both fill 1 leaf
* Venue, Map, Schedule, etc- fill 1 leaf

Since I won't have problem doing the layout, or worst case follow template, then set printer... hmmn sounds like a good idea.

Hi gals

I managed to find a printing company and it was much cheaper if you went to them directly. coz "middlemen" tend to mark up their prices.

I designed my own card in a postcard style with some cartoon logos and sent it for printing. the printing paper & envelopes are provided by the printer and it was good quality paper about 250gm. I printed about 100 pcs and it was less than $100.
I also sent my hotel invitation for printing directly onto the cards about 200 pcs and it was about $120
All are shiny gold hotstamping.

I DIY my own program booklet so in all, i spent less than $300 for everything including papers for pgm booklets and ribbons.

Hi ann
happy.gif

we customised the invites by using a photo taken during ROM ( cos PS pix not ready, we're pressed 4 time )as cover page. We went for colour printing n i juz viewed the sample card last sat. muz say im really really happy with Tdragons pdt cos the cover page wif our pix is glossy n the colours so vivid. Better than the original pix which was matt. Including inserts, we paid 600+ for the 210 cards printed.

my designer collage my wedding photos with photoshop and get a photolab to print it onto a glossy photographic paper like it very much.cheap and good
