Honeymoon to USA

I would like to know when is their summer holidays? I would like to avoid the crowd. The places I plan to go is san franciso & los angeles. towards the end of Sept to 1st week of Oct is it alright?

Definitely avoid July and August. School returns in September in California, so crowds will be much smaller in the fall.
