feel a little bad though coz mine costs almost double of his & he already bought an engagement ring for me :p

we do not have a joint account yet though, if we do, might have used that to pay.

Hey there, Love & Co has got a signature ring which is very nice! I think it's called the signatori ring. It even has a rose motif inscribed onto the diamond. Pretty awesome, i must say. Guys reading this post and hunting for a proposal ring should go and see it.

but if i'm not wrong, US diamonds mostly don't have our locally famous GIA IGI certs. some more have other oso supposedly international recognized certs like LEO diamonds or something like that. if you do not need certs, juz want big bling bling then can really buy from usa. 1 carat for 6k or something like that.

Alternatively, You can also go for diamonds that are graded by internationally recognised lab.

I got my diamond, an AGS certified diamond and the cut and price are simply unbeatable compare to buying in Singapore...

Base on my past experience working in jewellery trade... Think is not a die die to get AGS cert.. In fact, nowadays getting a GIA certify diamond with good cut grade is good enough.

If not if not wrong Goldheart do have this Proudly South African diamond with is in GIA cert. The diamond is source, cut and certify in South Africa then send to GIA for certification..

i found a blog last year from SBrides when i'm getting marry. This blog talk about choosing good diamond and some other wedding related matters. do check it out..

COW: I was told that it's not advisable to buy online. for clothes its ok, coz the cost is not that high. but for diamonds, u would rather have a face-to-face consultation with an expert so that u get your queries answered before purchasing.its a huge investment! I did think abt buying diamonds online too, but was advised by a gemologist that buying from retailer is a smarter choice.

Hi,

Personally, I bought a loose diamond from a US website (www.whiteflash.com).

Got the setting done in Singapore so that the resizing can be done more conveniently as mine was a surprise proposal....

I feel that from the online store, we can view all the various lab report (sarin, heart and arrows view, etc ) which we don't get to see and compare in store...

Also, with the specification given on the AGS Cert, we are able to use the online calculation tool to calculate the brilliance of the diamond...

However, this is just a personal preference as some do not feel comfortable buying without viewing...

Alternatively, you can try www.pricescope.com forum to see their discussion on diamond advise..it is a US forums...

Just me personal opinion...

oh well, i finally bought the ring from eclarity.

very good service overall.. very happy with the ring. i chose a 0.53c/F/VS2/EX with embedded side diamonds stretching down both sides to more than half the ring.

compare with a 1 carat ring with stone only, mine look more elegant and expensive. haha. cos the side diamonds really really can push up the looks, feel and bling.

pocket damage > $3480 (2880 for stone, 600 for ring with embedded side diamonds)

I've been to all 3.. Yuen Tung, josi and eclarity...

Yuen Tung and Josi have about the same price.. but i find that yuen tung have more selection in terms of diamonds...

but i should be opting for josi as i find that their service is slightly better.. and is more accessible!!

Ermm... My HTB brought my 1.0 Carat Solitaire from Soo Kee @ $10,800, E Colour, VS2, Standard cuts with GIA certification.
Based on the current economy, it's easier to fetch more affordable prices for Solitaires. It's rather competitive at the moment as lots of Jewellary Shop are bringing down their prices !

I've seen some shops offering AGS signature diamonds like Lee Hwa Destinee, TianPo Hearts on Fire and Vivo Diamonds Signature. They all look extremely beautiful. Have anyone seen them and are they generally better than the GIA certified ones?

my HTB did my proposal ring's setting last year at Yuen Tung and it was quite well done. don't know how much it costed though. =P
however, i realised that the size was a bit off as the ring kept rotating around especially now that i wear it almost everyday since Feb this year. thus, we went back in Mar to do resizing and asked about wedding bands as a by-the-way question.
We saw a rose-gold intertwined with white gold ring for me (with 0.11carat diamonds) and i fell in love with it cos it is compatible with my solitare proposal ring! my HTB chose a plain white gold band with comfort fit and we were quoted $1400nett for a pair, we were assured this was nett and final price. A bit out of our budget but since we loved them, we felt happy paying for it cos jewelry stores usually charge more. HTB's ring was more expensive because comfort fit rings apparently required more of the gold in order to do the inner contour. we were told that we could collect the rings in 3 weeks (ie 17 Apr) and could call them up before collecting to check on the status. We were quite pleased with the service of the middle-aged lady cos she was smiling and friendly all the time, so HTB proceeded to pay deposit of $400.
Now, this is where the bad review of Yuen Tung comes in. We called up on 16 Apr to enquire about the collection of the rings and was told that we couldn't collect cos the rings were not ready. not much explanation was given, except that they would need more time. promised us that they would be ready in another week on 23 Apr. nothing much we could do except wait. Guess what, called up on 21 Apr asking if we could collect on 23 Apr and again, they were not ready! My HTB really got angry and mind you, he is not one to lose his temper easily. guess the yuen tung staff could sense his anger on the phone and explained that their workshop suddenly got a lot of huge orders recently and promised to get the bands ready asap. as if our order was a last min order! they should have put these 'huge orders' that came in even more recently than ours and put our bands as priority! don't know what they were thinking, isn't this supposed to be first-come-first-served basis??
finally, on 23 Apr they called us again and said we could collect. whhhewww! at least, we didn't have to wait another week. we went to the shop and the same smiling middle-aged lady served us again. now, i realised what is 笑里è—刀 (chinese proverb means hidden knife/dagger in smiles). after showing us the rings, we were quite pleased with the glitter and the sizes were right. now comes the knife! the lady told us then that as there was more gold in my HTB's ring, the price needs to increase by another $100! we were shocked and of course became unhappy! of course we didn't wanna pay cos this extra cost was not told to us over the phone when they called earlier in the day and neither was it stated on the day we placed our order. so i muttered to my HTB on getting a refund of the $400 deposit and forego the rings. yuen tung can sell them to other unsuspecting couples for all i care! i think the young male boss heard what i muttered to my HTB and asked the lady serving us for the workmanship slip which stated the craftsman's costing of $1500. this young male boss proceeded to do some calculation, didn't even bother talking to us face-to-face and muttered to the lady that it was ok to charge us $1400. he then went to attend to some rich tai-tais at the seat beside us, along with the big boss (a grey-haired uncle). KNS!! i felt so slighted! aren't we also your customers or is it because yuen tung bosses only have eyes for rich tai-tais?? in any case, although we got the rings we wanted at a reasonable price, the overall experience was horrible! initially i was thinking of recommending my friends who are getting married next year to this place to get their wedding bands but now, i WILL NEVER EVER recommend this place. all the tai-tais can go there for all i care and get cheated. PUI!!

Hi guys,I actually posted on another forum but hope to seek your opinion here too.. want to get as much feedback before proposal.

I just got my gal's engagement ring from a jeweller Lovida Diamonds... (incredible price by the way heh) and I want to do a picture montage for my gal for the proposal.... so the boss Alex sent me pictures and graphics of the ring design I chose.

Alex gave me 2 colour sets of images to use (actual ring is not ready but he said the images are only for this design though)…..

So guys,

Here is the thing I really want your opinion, and I know it’s silly, but Alex offered to do photoshop of words on whatever I want on the images, no need logo also can...

\b {a) Which colour set you guys think is better?}

\b {b) What words do you guys suggest?}

Thanks!

Hi.

I'm looking around for an engagement ring. I fell in love with the design at D'Meyson.
0.5 carat, D colour, VVS1 specs for $3900.

But as I read, I found out that SIG certification is not as reliable as GIA certification. How true is this?

Any idea for jewelers that allows customization of engagement ring, with a reasonable price?

Hey guys.. I am a certified HRD diamond grader and happened to be a BTB as well, here are some of my opinions about the different laboratories:
I can only make detailed comparison with HRD and GIA as I am a certified HRD diamond grader, but I'll try to sum up the rest of the labs as well.

GIA:
1. GIA tend to sound more reputable because of it's number of laboratories around the world thus they certify more diamonds a day compared to other labs.
GIA, in my opinion, grading is okay but they differ slightly beacause of they have multiple master stones. (basically, diamonds are compared to master stones, like checking answers in a test)
Therefore I feel that GIA colour grading is a little off. Having said that, they are NOT noticeable to naked eyes. My experience with both labs teaches me, that in the very high colours (D-E-F), HRD is generally more strict than GIA.

2. GIA has fanciful names which makes them sound good. Don't get me wrong, its nothing bad, it's just that different labs has different number categories and names to describe their stones.
Eg 1: Assuming a Fancy Yellow diamond, with the exact same specs on a HRD cert could be "very yellow", but on a GIA it's "vivid yellow", and of course a "vivid" sounds more expensive. That's why many of the wholesalers go to GIA to certify their diamonds.
Eg 2: Same exact diamond could be cut graded "Very Good" whereas for GIA it could be "Excellent". and of course "excellent" sounds better, again many of the wholesalers go to GIA to certify their diamonds. It's not that HRD under grades them, it's because their naming system is not as good as GIA. The latest I've heard is that HRD is working towards a better naming system.

3. Other boring differences which you may not understand, again its comparing system with system, naming with naming:
GIA gives you table size, total depth, while HRD gives you table size, crown height and pavillion depth, while you can calculate total depth yourself from the measurements. When giving girdle size, HRD uses another notation than GIA, and because of that the girdle will appear about 1.7% thicker on a HRD-report than on a GIA-report'

Some other reputable labs in my opinion:
HRD
IGI
EGI
AGS

To sum it up, HRD or any of the other labs are not a less reliable lab than GIA, as long as you are aware of some basic differences. In the end, it all comes down to where you are buying the stone. You need to buy it from a person, who can check a report, and who is professional enough to interpret that report, and if this does not suffice, you can still work with a professional appraiser.

Hi all

I am happy and satisfied with my LeeHwa Forevermark diamond ring. Even though its a tiny winy 0.31 carat, its colour and clarity is at one of its best. LeeHwa also provides excellent customer service. I always got paranoid with knocking e ring against e table n etc and visited the shop several times to check on e ring until e sales person also recognised me. Haha. But I'm glad they took e matter seriously and check through the ring thoroughly.
I am certainly a proud owner of this Forevermark ring!

How much would you pay for 0.7 carat, D colour, VVS1, ideal cut? Or how much would it cost approximately? Any idea?
