Do you guys find it a chore

i've been married for almost 4 years and i've only met the husband's maternal uncle and his family once at a lunch hosted by the husband's mother and husband (step-father).. never met the other relatives. on his father's side, i've only met his wife's (my husband's step-mother) mother once ..

junkie: I agree.
Who? Me?: Na. He's the one that's antisocial. LOL

Am actually not forcing him to accompany me to all gatherings. But certain ones esp for my grandmother who is currently in hospital, she's been requesting to see him. She thinks that her time's coming to an end that's why.

She's important to me that's why I hope he would go at least for my sake. Previously, he was busy with his exams, so I asked if he is okay with going after he is done. Now I see him busy with work, so it is hard for me to bring it up to him at this juncture. Plus the fact that he consistently tells me that he's antisocial.

As for other gatherings, it is only at times that I feel alone when everyone else is bringing along their spouse. Apart from that I'm okay going myself most of the times.

explain ur situation clearly and i'm sure he will be more than happy to oblige... just remember to pick a time when there's no one ard except u guys and grandma... well, Meeting People is Easy

my husband and I visit his parents every sunday at their home for dinner & every1 in his family brings their other partner there too his sister's bf is there every sunday without fail for dinner as well

.. so oh well

most people will have a view on this but their opinions are irrelevant. in a relationship, only two votes matter - yours and his.

Depending on the comfort level I guess... my HB and I met most of our relatives during courtship... Try explaining to your bf, I am sure he will understand and pays a visit to your grandma..

sm, agree to give them the needed time and support.

But, however, some pple never want to move out of their comfort zone. That can be so problematic with the inlaws and parents.

Thanks all. I agree that he is really uncomfortable with strangers and quite a loner at times.
Will try to encourage him more.

My paternal grandma just passed away. Am glad he made the effort to come down to pay respects. It's quite a challenge for him alr having to face so many relatives of mine.

Tell him, it is not always about him. As long as he takes his attention from himself and onto paying respect to your late grandma, I don't see any challenge unless he is a socially under developed person.

it's always good to meet up with some close relatives of both parties cos' this brings the couple closer on a personal level.

kind of weird if u don't know ur other-half's favourite/close relatives yah?

esp if one's intending to marry! sure must meet one day, might as well meet now!
