Confused state

yeah it's good she's not siding with the old hag.

OLD HAG should not bother about their younger generation affair.

You are Poorer then her so it's good your gf contribute some $$$ for the both of you. there's not much choice she's richer she help you lo. And she's willing to correct? so this is such a great help.

Idk how bad is your MIL but I think marriage is not about only 2 persons.

Our future plans will usually include our family members.

Yes. Try to build a better relationship with her mother. She will be your family afterall.

I'm glad you are not confused anymore. A good pat on your shoulder for rejecting the dates with your childhood friend!! This is really an action that marks your determination and fidelity.

Always rem.. Real integrity is doing the right thing even no one knows. All the best to u!

Old Hag might think u r poor and look down on you, i know many old hag see $$$ first then see human.

this type of old hag very hard to deal with. you must find chance to piss that old hag off. make her life shorter.

than she will die off very soon and life's better for you and your girl.

first - it's kinda rude to address her mum as "old hag" for something ambiguous thus far,
second - it's also contradicting as the gf has the same "attitude" as her mum. so, she is simply a younger hag?
third - both TS and the gf are seemingly the bigger issue than her mum.

so, pls stop all the needless trash-talk.

Hey confused...
I don't think you are stuck in the cross road at all. You know what you want -> "Choose not to marry your current GF" since you say you prolly wont marry your GF but yet you are afraid to hurt her.
Please dont go into a marriage because you think its "time" to get married... its your choice!

hihi,
I think if you are unable to decide if your gf is the one whom u want to spend your entire life with, perhaps you may want to re-consider carefully again?

You may think that it can be such a "lost of face" in front of your friends or family (if they already know you are going to get married). However, it is better than getting married and in the end preferred your childhood friend or even being single.

Such regret can reach a detrimental state in the marriage and it costs more than a "lost of face" by then.

I would suggest, please have a clear mind and know what you are getting into. It is a marriage and it stands for long lasting commitment.
Emotions can be there for a while, reality will sink in after marriage. There are more difficult things to handle eg. like her mother, her
care-less attitude, unwilling with help you with the chores etc etc.

Hoping that a person will change after marriage, is but a dream.

If you are willing to undertake them and are prepared for the above, then u are more likely to settle down.

However, the fact that u are here seeking for some opinion has indicated that you are having a serious second thoughts which u are unwilling to fact it. I could be wrong. it's just a guess.

I agree with what Milo has suggested that the childhood friend has magnified the problem which has been existing between ur gf and you. u may not end up with your childhood friend.. but cos of her, hopefully u are more clear about what you are getting into.

Take care and good luck
