Oops! I forgot to post about chatroom session tonight (Thursday) at 9.30 PM again! Another point off my annual performance review! Arrgghh!

hi Chin Leng,

I was just testing out whether I can log on to chatroom but cannot leh... got the following message in the window that pop out:

"Please wait, connection in progress...
Connection failed:java.net. ConnectException: Connection refused"

any reason y this is so? is it bcoz my sys does not allow this kind of connection or it's bcoz the chatroom is not open yet?
 
Hi Islandpub and Angelia,

The chatroom is actually opened all the time, just that Thursday 9.30 PM is when you'll be sure to find someone in the room.

There may be 2 possibilities why the connection can't was not made.

1. Your current browser version or setting does not support the chat Java applet. IE 6.0 should not have this problem.
2. Your connection was behind a firewall (usually company server has one). Try again at home.

Alternatively, you can connect to the chatroom using mIRC software. The chatroom is in Austnet chat server and the channel is #singaporebrides.

Hi Island,

Now it is actually quite cheap to get a DIY PC from Sim Lim. However, you'll need to have a bit of knowledge regarding what are the good hardwares to get. The installation fee is about $40, some may be free if you buy all the hardware from the same shop.

If you don't mind using AMD microprocessor, it is possible to have a computer at about $1000. Just add about $280 for a 17" monitor.

thanks for the recommendations... i also checking out the price of a diy pc from sim lim. i saw dell's latest promotion on their 4300S dimension that comes with a 15" flat panel monitor at $1938 n the specs all look fine to me without any need for further upgrade but i checking the price of diy with similar specs so now havent got the quote from my frn who is helping me to check... hopefully i can get my home pc soon... then next time i can log in on thur nite to join in the chat... ;p

It is quite easy actually, just click on the "Chat" which is available on the top of the navigation bar.

However, you may not be able to log in through your company PC if it has a firewall. But you shouldn't have any problem connecting through your home connection.
