BS package or ala carte?

Hi ladies! New here, hoping to get some advice. I'm currently deciding between signing for a BS package and doing it ala carte style. The HTB and I popped into some of the BS along Tanjong Pagar just to have a sense of what a typical package would consist of, and we found that we didn't want most of the things in the packages!

Quite simply we need the following:

1. WG for AD (OTR is fine)
2. Maybe one cheongsam for tea ceremony (optional for now)
3. MUA for AD
4. AD Photography and Videography
5. Car rental

Would you ladies recommend finding a BS who is willing to work with the above requirements, or just go ala carte?

Thanks in advance!

Suggest to get a separate AD vg/pg by doing your own research & see what style you like. Usually the AD vg/pg from BS don't have good reviews.

BS package is cheaper I think, but quality wise shld not be as good. By the time they are good, they will start their own company. BS do have AD package, just tell them you want you need they will calculate and quote you a pricing. For all BS, got good and bad reviews, scout around and see which one you feel comfortable to talk with. I think most AD package offers kua, not cheongsam. But I believe they should have. Do rmb to bargain. :D

Thanks for all the replies!

Yup the BS I spoke to told me that they have limited CS on the rack too. Anyway we are looking to host a super simple wedding, will be fine with just one dress (the WG) but I thought maybe should get a spare dress in case I dirty it or something.

Is it a norm to engage your own AD video/photo and not take the one offered by the BS?

My package, managed to nego inclusive of AD photography. But some ppl do prefer their own photographers.

I'm still deciding if to hire another photographer for backup.

Is it a practice to hire backup photographer? Sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions, just started this whole planning thing a few days ago!

Could someone advise if the following budgeting is reasonable?

1. WG for AD (OTR is fine) - $500
2. Maybe one cheongsam for tea ceremony (optional for now) - $200
3. MUA for AD - $400
4. AD Photography and Videography - $2400
5. Car rental - $400

I think having a backup is dependent on the no. of guests expected as well n personal preference.

From what I checked prev, there is package of $888 for WG, groom suit, hair n makeup from BS.

AD photography is dependent on how many hrs you expecting.

U haf to factor in hand bouquet, floral decor etc as well.

IIRC, my AD package, 10 hrs photography was $800, top up 1k for videographer (no editing)

I think by removing 1 evening gown doesnt make much price difference. Cos when I bargain, all the BS always throw in more stuff for free, but doesnt want to reduce price.

And, from the banquet side, usually have 2 march-in, so usually pple will have 1 WG and 1 EG for each entrance. Probably 1 with dad, 1 with SO. I was thinking to do away with 1. :p

Hi Mulligan ,

Actually , you can try Fleur D'sign , they have the items you needed in their packages as well , I am considering to get my AD package with them as the quoted me only $1998 for
1 wedding gown
1 Evening Gown
1 Kua
AD Photography
Bridal Bouquet for bride
Corsages for parents and my Groom
Fresh Car deco
Makeup& Hairdo For AD

I rented a car from them as well @ $388

wanted to a la crate too before that but seeing their package , I think I am thinking to engage their service because there is so much things to do and the lady boss ( Christina) is a very nice lady , she is very patient in helping in even when I ask her stuff about Guo da li and other wedding procedure which she can just ignore me , but she didn't , she also recommended me the kind of body for my body shape and pulled out a few pieces which really suits my taste even when we only told her we wanted something elegant, also not pushy in selling their packages as well. if I can get these things all settled at one , it is really easier as I have a very packed work schedule. I like the white gown series they have too , not too kua zhang but elegant.

For photography , the picture looks good too , doesn't really has a style to it just a typical photographer work . haha .

I dunno leh , girls , I need advice too , deciding to take up a package or a la crate o_O

Actually just check with the photographer if they can have a second shooter for free. Some can provide a second shooter. I don't think having a backup is good because sometimes they get into each other's way then in the end no one takes a good shot. That's just what I think la.

Also... I just want to ask... Why must we have videographer ah? I discussed with my Bf and we thought tht no one would sit around and watch the video in the future. Some photographers do morning highlights montage also... So that should be enough?
