bridal shops comparison

Below are just my personal opinion on a few bridal shops that I have visited:

Dang Bridal – Dang is a very friendly lady, no hard selling, specialised in mermaid gown, very pretty gowns but you must know if your body style is suitable for mermaid, and this style is very hard for movement on your big day.

Z Wedding – a bit hard selling, and they keep us waiting for quite a long while. The pre wedding photos album are pretty good, but I dislike the leave-now-and-the-price-will-be-higher hard selling, and the price quoted compared to other bridal shops are much higher. A comprehensive package started at 6k, while that in French wedding started at 3k only. Though quality wise, Z wedding is better than French.

Bridal Veil – a very positive experience with the fashion show, no hard selling, very high quality dresses, but more suitable for westerner than Asian, they make use of a lot of satins which gives a very elegant and mature look, though I didn’t engage them eventually, but if your budget is sufficient, this is the one to go for. The price started at 3k without any pre wedding service.

Silhouette the Atelier – hard selling, claimed that all dresses are to be worn once only, but some of the gowns looked really old and yellowish, great doubt on the integrity of the designer, gown not particularly beautiful too, and if its meant to be worn once only, why not do MTM. No point to design a gown before you find the customer

The French Wedding – very friendly MUA introducing me the package, very good price, but the photo album quality is pretty low, pre wedding studio not very nice, and the quality of dresses is pretty low too

Whitelink – price ranges from 3k to 6k, need to top up for designer gown, but honestly off the rack and exclusive range is equally the same (stated on the invoice), and you won’t be able to find anything from this range that is of quality, but for designer gown, they look much more like it. So eventually you will have to top up all your gowns to the designer range.. but studio looks nice from the photo, photo quality looks nice too.

JB Bridal shops – the price is cheaper but the quality of dresses is unbearable. Unless you are really looking for budget, and like the natural scenery in Malaysia, otherwise I will suggest taking the whole package in Singapore. The travelling time (selecting / fitting gown, choosing photos and photos layout, collecting bouquet and so on) will be taken up too much of your precious time for average quality. SG-JB travel is a nightmare.

Hi shoppers, you may like to avoid this one, if you happen to come by it.

Name: ************** (previous Ted Collection)

Location: North

1. The plus: Seemed to have positive reviews about their work.

2. The neutral: There’s just a facebook page with mostly pictures from what seem to be the owner’s own wedding.

3. The minus: Utter lack of professionalism to the point of being rude.

Actually, the minus was so unexpectedly bad that I decided to collect my thoughts and comment on it.

My sad tale:

I looked them up and made a walk in inquiry. When I asked the staff when I might be able to talk to their designer, they answered they simply didn’t know. I was still interested though as this was a store that was around my neighbourhood. So, I made a call a day or two later. The phone manner was ok and I left a message for them to call me back when the designer was around. I didn’t get a call back so after another couple of days, I decided to pay them another visit. I went alone as my fiancé wasn’t free to join me.

As I approached the store, I saw another couple seated inside talking to a guy who I presume might have been the designer. A staff member approached the door and I thought it was sweet that she was there to open the door for me.

Then things went in a weird direction. She didn’t open the door. Instead, she was there to block the door and prevent me from entering. She opened it a crack and spoke to me through that crack.

I was mortified then and quite a bit upset, still. I’ve never been so cheesed off in recent memory.

Really, if they were busy – and they generally aren’t as I have observed them before – there are better ways to handle other customers professionally. Maybe they see a deal if people come in as a couple, not as an individual? However, no idea what their reasons were. I can only say that I’ve struck them off my list.

They were just rude so you may like to give them a miss.
