Anyone planning their weddings from overseas?

Hi Charm, we had to have two celebrations too as none of my hubby's family could make it to SG. Another excuse to wear your dress again.

Hi Tootsieroll, sounds like you had a lovely wedding. Congrats for making it to 'almost a year'.

Stary, just thought you might like another website for your collection (& research).

http://www.bridalgems.co.uk/

If you are thinking of getting most of your gear here, you might consider buying some stuff online (or on ebay) as they are a whole lot cheaper than the shops.

e and tootsie -- a very belated hello! Haven't been logging on to the forum. Been busy, hehe, as you can tell, it's been a long time and I haven't answered your email!!! hehe, I am not ignoring you ok... just a bit tied up at work. Promise will email you back soon... ;p
biggrin.gif

Hihi to all the other gals. Me working in London too!
happy.gif

Hi Charm, a hog roast sounds like fun. I'm sure everybody will have a good time. We had a ceilidh and everybody had a ball of a time especially my hubby's 4 year old niece. Hee! Hee! Yesterday she asked me if we were going to have another wedding again this year, so that she can dress up and have a dance!!

Hi ashlee & tootsie, hope you are well wherever you are.
happy.gif

Mrs N - yea!!... i'm looking forward to that...! hehee... kidz are funny!!..

stary - did you email me? i'm having trouble with my computer at home... you wanna let me have your email address and i can e you.

hope everyone's well!!..

Hi.

Sorry for the belated reply everyone. Been busy clearing work in UK and now back in SG and busy clearing BS. Hee.. :o)

Anyway, Mrs N, thanks for your website. Think after my scouting in SG, might decide to get my gowns in UK as the timeline for MTM gowns here are a bit tight.

Charm, sounds like you are having fun planning your wedding. I have not emailed you yet as I have been really busy. I will drop you a mail when I get back next week. My home comp in SG is super lousy (slow, virus-ridden due to my bro, ...) Can't wait to get back to UK. SG weather is giving me a sunburn!!!

Ashlee, which part of London you based at? What you doing?

Hi Stary you sound really busy.
happy.gif
Make the most of your time in S'pore and enjoy the local cuisine. If you need more help, just give me a shout.

Hee! Hee! Tootsieroll, I think this thread has sort of died because most of the girls on here communicate and share their news via MSN or yahoo.
happy.gif

hi gals ... apparently i haven't quit my sgbrides addiction coz I'm here!

roll call ...who else is out there?
rofl.gif

are your weddings over already? lilo...how's your dress coming along? as for me, am trying to plan a second 'real' honeymoon for july hehe. also quit my job (well soon) coz i'm taking the plunge and going back to school for a masters. what's new with you gals?

hi snippy snappy,
yup, i'm still here too. Kinda forgot about the forum after getting married, then I got pregnant and while being stuck at home, 'returned' to Sgbrides. Our first year anniversary is this sunday - no second honeymoon, but a sunday lunch cruise down the thames should be nice (if the weather doesn't turn on us!).

What do you plan to study?

Hi Snippy Snappy,

My wedding is in August. Real soon! Still tons of things to do! THe worst thing is here is not Singapore and pretty hard to get things going by myself without my FH. Not familiar wtih Netherlands. I'm sure God will help me get through it. BTW, I'm starting Dutch class tomor. 2 weeks then summer hols. Better than nothing! Hee hee!

You plan to study, I'm going to study too in Sept. Finally get through the audition and interview! Thank God!

Hi Tootsieroll,
Me also busy ever since I came to Netherlands, died down too on the thread and tot it's quiet. Well, I didn't reset to be sent to my email. Guess I'm back hopefully, n not MIA after marriage. Think will be super busy busy busy with being a wife and student. Ha ha ha....

Elizabeth,
Haha, this is the 3rd thread I'm 'talking' to you on
happy.gif
So what do you plan to study...will it all be in Dutch?! I love the way the Dutch speak English...I find they have an adorable accent! Where is your FH now? Is he not in .NL?

Hi just thought I'd add something to keep this thread moving along.

Hey Snippy Snappy, that's quite a big plunge you'll be taking. I did the same too but before I got married not after.
happy.gif
Can be quite a lot of hard work, going back to student life after working for a number of years. But once you get over that initial 'shock' of being a student again, it'll be fine. After years of having to dress properly for work, it's quite a nice change to be able to go to 'work' in jeans and track shoes. Anyway best of luck to you.

Liz, you still finding for materials to make the pillows? Hee! Hee! Yah, I think you will be a super busy person, what with dutch and dance classes plus sewing pillows etc! You might have to share the housework and cooking with your hubby.

Hi again tootsieroll.

hi ladies!

tootsieroll: congrats on the baby!! when's he/she due? Bet your families must be really excited. I know mine would be hehe. but they're not getting the 'satisfaction' just yet.
biggrin.gif

Liz: congrats congrats sounds like lots of big changes going on. yeah where is your FH now? he's not in NL with you? traveling for work?

Mrs N: hi! don't think we've really chatted before. but yeah my brains really aren't the same as they used to be haha. not that they were any good before lah. anyway it's been too long *gulp* thankfully i already do get to dress casually for work since I am at one of those new school techy firms! btw where are you located?

how is the weather where you guys are? it's miserably hot and humid here (90F). can give singapore weather a run for its money. the heat really gets to you and I feel so sluggish. but i'm almost glad to be in the office today because it's air conditioned!!! muahaha.

oh and anyone watching soccer??
happy.gif
who are you rooting for? we've recorded the matches (mostly during the day) but some how it isn't as fun watching something that isn't live.

Hi Snippy Snappy you wouldn't have chatted with me before. I only joined this forum a few months after I got married. Was too busy writing up my thesis in the run up to the wedding and didn't have time for any forum. So I'm now making up for what I had missed!
rofl.gif
I'm in the UK, btw. What about you?

It's taken a long time to get warm this year. But the last few days have been nice.
happy.gif
I know what you mean about the heat. I used to work in a lab which had some furnaces at 1000°C and it was quite impossible to work comfortably in the summer b'cos it was so hot even if the windows were left open.

Not really paying attention to the soccer. My hubby is not a fan either.
happy.gif
But we'll watch some snippets just out of curiousity.
wink.gif

snippy, me not football fan but becos show here are boring n happen japan n korea playing so just watch
happy.gif
not much abt my wedding, sit there to wait for date n slim down
where u going for honeymoon?

mrs N, snippy live in states... kapo answer for her

Hello Girls!

I dropped by here again to kaypo. DH and I just celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary in Hong Kong, and thought I would drop by Singapore for Chinese New Year.

CONGRATULATIONS Tootsie roll!!

Hi ladies, I am living abroad at the moment and planning my Sept 2008 wedding reception. This thread looks deserted! Please can anyone also planning their wedding come here to discuss your plans and share experiences!?!?!!!!

Hi Fruitchick, which country are you in now?

If you are in Australia, there's a thread 'Anyone planning a SG wedding but currently in Australia?' http://www.singaporebrides.com/forumboard/messages/36737/473607.html?1178534831

or you can go to 'Any Brides whose HTB is 'Ang Mo'?' http://www.singaporebrides.com/forumboard/messages/36737/105257.html?1186754181
Most of the Sg ladies in this thread are living in overseas.

Btw how's ur preparation? Are you getting a Bridal Studio package to take care of most things like gowns, suits etc? My hubby and I just had our wedding solemnisation in Melbourne last month and now we are trying to source for a venue for my Sg wedding reception next year. It is always with much challenges when i'm doing my planning and 'researching' as physically, i couldnt be able to see and feel it for myself
happy.gif
But i guess that eventually makes the whole preparation process an exciting and memorable one

Hi Sacredspirits, I think this thread has not been active for a long time (you can see from the dates posted). However, you can try the threads below. You might not get lots of suggestion/ tips reagrding stuff in UK, but sure will get lots of ideas about things in Singapore... That's how I managed to organise my wedding in Singapore from Australia.
