Gotten a job offer but don't know whether to accept. No one to discuss with.

Current Company - Tourism
salary - 3040/mth, 18 days leave

New Company - Bank
offered 3300/mth, 14 days leave

As it is already Sept and by the month I give one month notice, i would be starting new job in Oct which means I have to forgo 1.25 months bonus in Dec in my old company. I guess that new company wont pay me AWS since I will join in Oct only. Having a dilemma now. I would want to join banking industry but seem like it is not worth it at this point of time. Anyone can help analyse?

Thanks.

how come you never state what kind of role you are performing. is it HR, account, PR, etc, etc?

also, is your job in Singapore or elsewhere? i see your profile, you are from Msia

One has to look beyond that bonus of 1-2 months when pursuing a career.

Look at the potential and the exposure and interest. All these are far more important factors.

To share, I left a job that paid over 3 months bonuses in recession and around 5-6 months in good yrs for doing technical backend stuffs. What I gained, job satisfaction, regional and global exposure, more relevance to the biz than hidden deep behind in the backend managing databases, servers and serving only internal customers.

Did not regret it at all.

You should be looking at how interesting and how much you want the new role. If its not that sexy, then don't bother unless the money is so good.

Nothing to analyse. If the new company has better prospects then just leave.. Forgoing a month of bonus is nothing compared to your future.

I am puzzled by people waiting to move just for a month's bonus or 1.25 months for that matter.

If you are not ready to move, why you went to look for a job now and ended up in an indecisive position.

Might as well take bonus then look for job - if that bonus is so important to you. Otherwise, just bite the bullet and go.

very funny leh, only u urself can decide if its worth moving on to a new job.

if we give u wrong advice, are u going to blame us for it?

you want to join a bank, why? an admin is an admin no matter the industry you are in. and the sad part about being an admin is that if you are any good, your boss will hog you for himself. if you're no good, there's no reason to try you out for different things. in other words, there's little chance of you going up or out to try different things once you are hired for that admin role. i may be wrong but in all my years working, i've not seen an admin move on to a different role within the same org. might be better for you to apply for a different job if that's what you want.
