Hi everyone,

Noticed that Prof Yu Shi Ming has gd reviews & is relatively popular. Strangely, I didn't manage to locate his name/ contact no. under the list of liscenced solemnisers. there's a note on the ROM website indicating that if contacts aren't found, the JP might have retired.

Any idea anyone?? My AD is in July08. Is it too early to look for JPs?

Hi auntyoink>

contact number : 97366131
email : [email protected]

this thingy is actually a voluntery thingy for them, as such their contact may not be under ROM website.

I feel there is no harm if u drop a polite sms or call to prof yu to check if he is still in service.

hope the above contact helps.

hi joleen,

Thx for the contact. I dropped him an email but no reply to date. My AD is in Jul so i am wondering if it's too early to book a JP, & maybe that's why he didn't reply

what both me n my bf does is we dropped an email.
wait for reply if for abt a week no reply i will drop a call if i have the no.
if not, i would suggest u find an alternative
n yes prob ard march u can source for 1 if u not tat urgent unless ur date is super godd date kind... then play safe then be sorry lo

i just met him at borders today.. nice friendly man... shared w us a lot of stories that he came across and share w us tips and the importance of maintaining a marriage... =) appreciated his guidance

when did u met him? i met him yest... after us, there is a couple who approached us to check if the guy is Mr chan.. wonder if she is anyone here.. =)

hi,

i have seen mr chan as solemniser, as he is very popular, he's schedule is usually very packed within a day and he tend to get down to business and rush through.

recently when my frd did her wedding and i was the MC, when mr chan came, he insisted that we start the ceremony immediately as he has to rush for another one. ( although not all guest is here) so we out of panick we had to, and changed the agenda.

i can understand that everybody try not to have their wedding delay hence its best to keep to the time. but i find it very rushing and chop chop with him.

i had mr koh kok weng and i thought he was good. he prepared some unique wedding vows on a heart shape paper and us to read it.

i thought that was something different.

Janesis i second your comments..

from experience i had a popular lady as a JP and though she was nice (she can articulate well and hence capture guests' attention) but then again..being so popular, she had some limitations and expections..example like you have to get the couples before your timing (say you've booked 6pm ROM then the 1st couple is 5pm and the couple after you is 7pm..) you have to get their number and alias with them and make sure no hiccups and delays cos if 1 couple's wedding is delayed then the rest will also suffer..i feel it's very stressful. Then also she expected someone to pick her up from the previous couple's place and send her to my hotel..etc etc..

My wedding was nice with fond memories but if i could choose again i'll choose a not too popular one..

Just my 2 cents lah

Cheers

Belle> you had Mrs Chia Swee Tin issit??

hehe.. I had Mr Chan Kai Yau.. he's equally popular.. but he's definitely less demanding than Mrs Chia.. and he dun need anyone to pick him anywhere. i think he drives.. and he's really good..

Belle> she's the only one JP who demands such treatment wat.. heard so many on the web... but many still no doubt agree that she's good la..
but i personally think she dun like me.. hahah..
Coz i called her twice.. to ask if she could be my JP.. she didnt want to commit.. but later i found out another gal who's ROM-ing on the same day had her for JP..and she confirmed her long ago...
So after my 2nd try, i decided to forgo her..and invited Mr Chan... no regrets.. and very glad i got him.. he is really very Good!

wah good for you!

hey saw your wedding date is in sept, congrats!! And btw, i once shortlisted your venue too! cos i like it..like a Balinese outdoor theme but a pity my hb was so afraid of the heat cos of the many layers of clothes he wore..so in the end forgo that venue

Hi Belle,

Is Mrs Chia Swee Tin still JP?
I've gotten the latest solemizers list, but cant seems to locate her name and contact details...

How do you gals determine she's good? Pardon me for my ignorance...

Belle> not that hot la.. got fans around.. got ice water for guests... it was alrite..

Glamourous> She is still JP.. can la.. maybe u missed her name.. its inside..
happy.gif

She will meet up all the couples in the same month for a "counselling" session.. and she makes them write personalised wedding vows which are to be read during Solemnisation..
happy.gif

But she very attitude one.. went to my fren's Solemnisation.. the bride was late.. her face was black throughout.. coz she hates latecomers.. but the bride was making up..thats why late... she asked why take so long to make up??
And throughout everything..she puts on a stern face.. though crack some jokes here & there.. but .. still find her attitude... hence was glad i didnt stick to her in the end.. haha..

Glamourous~yeah i second rach..personally i think she has much improvements to make..a bit stuck up lah on the whole..think that has to do with her profession-lawyer. Yup nice in a way, write our own vows, meet up for counselling session but else i find that if you want to make your own wedding memorable, you can make your own vows too with other JPs what..But afterall, it's just my own opinion of her lah. Last decision still goes to you gals here

Cheers!

Hi folks,

Could anyone recommend me a male JP who is billingual and has some sense of humour, yet look fatherly and knows how to conduct solemnization at outdoor venue very well? i.e. the couple who is soleminization will not always have their backside facing the audience.

Thanks.

Hi Oink Oink,
do u have a photo of Mr Chan Kai Yau? Actually I read from anther thread that he was late and mess up someone's outdoor solemnization..

not sure if this is true.

I heard Chris Chen is not bad for outdoor solemnization also, anyone knows if he is good ?

I am quite confused of the e-filling thing, got an impression of can be register 3months prior to my ROM date. But realised it can be done any date within the 3months. Can anyone enlighten me, thanks.

Hi cfay,
If u held the solemnisation at outside eg. like hotel or home, u can register any date within 3 mths of your AD & need to find JP by yourself. Only u held the solemnisation in ROM office then hv to register 3mths prior, eg. your AD is fall on 8Aug then u need to standby in computer @ 12.00am 7May to 'reserved' the 'seat'

Summer_ice> Hi, Mr Chan Kai Yau got no mobile nos so u got to call his home nos ..I be having JP, Mr Chan Kai Yau as solemnizer on 28 Dec 08 so do call him soon. Cheers

IcePurple> Hi, it depend on different JP/Solemniser cos my fren booked solemniser 5mths in advance but it is better not to book them more than 4 mths before your ROM date

Hi Everyone...

Pardon me for asking such stupid question but can somebody please tell me why is it important to have a "good" and "popular" JP??

Aren't they all supposed to be qualified and trained for it??

So if need to choose, what are the things to look out for in JPs??
Or should I say what and how will one be consider GOOD??

Thanks a billion...
