Any aussie Future husband

Hi I am new to this thread.
Can i please get some advise if applying PR for foreign husband - is it easy? Anyone gone thru this experiences and could share further?

Hi Gals,
Just wanted to give all of you an update. The wedding is over and I'm now a Mrs, well still in the honeymoon period and enjoying it a lot. I've move to Sydney two weeks ago, still adjusting and trying to settle in. A lot of paperwork to prepare for the Visa application so that have been keeping me busy. How are you gals?

hi all,

m new here on this thread....m moving to sydney too.....have yet to apply for my visa but is preparing my wedding here and there....been stressful.....

Hi gals

I've been in country Victoria (city: Melbourne) for over 5 weeks and have found casual work at a country newspaper as a journalist for 1 week and another week doing various office tasks. Juz really glad to have been able to find work, albeit casual ones, that quickly.

I hope all your move and transitions will be fun and smooth!

Take care!

Hi Skybebe,
that sounds really interesting! Is journalism your background? Congrats! How are you settling in?

Hi fern

Yup, I'm a journo grad and journalism is also my interest. Hope to get a permt job soon in this area!

Settling in well altho the weather has been rather erratic....sometimes hot that it feels like summer and sometimes cold like winter.

But I have been enjoying life here altho to me, it can get boring sometimes being home on 22 acres of land day in, day out. I much prefer working.

How've you been and how's your move and transition process been? Hope you're well and keeping happy. Take care!

Good luck with the job and yea, hope you find something perm in this area soon! I have noticed that job opportunities abound in OZ major cities, and chances are good if you are properly qualified, because they believe in Equal Employment Opportunities.

With the weather, ppl often say that Melbourne has four seasons in 1 day! Hot, cold, rainy, hot again....

I'm doing really great at the moment with a new job that I love.

Stay in touch, and stay happy too!

Hi Ladies,

Read your stories and I'm glad that I'm not the only one that is facing the problem of a long distance relationship. Though my FH is not an Aussie but a Dutch from Netherlands and met him online through a Catholic Single online. Thanks for sharing! It makes it easier to go through it! Cheers!

Hi Damsel...
Are you still active in this thread? Sorry I've gone AWOL. I was busy in Singapore and France with some wedding details. Got back to Sydney 3 weeks ago....and got caught up with the wedding details here as well!!!

So How are you settling into Liverpool?

Hi Moggie,

I've also been MIA from this thread as I've been busy running ard to get my papers ready for my Visa application and also busy shopping for furnitures my my house. I love Liverpool, there's a lot of things to do here. Have been settling in pretty well.

Hi,
wow.. so many of u gals marry a Aussie husband..
My FH is from Perth, but we dun intend to go back so early.
Btw, how is this Spouse visa works? and wat is it for?

waseh.
all like aus husband ..
aussie husband more romantic than asians one?
how to go n find them? i not a christian so cant possible meet them online..heee

any suggestions?

Hi Juz_dimp,

I think one of the reason many s'porean gals marrying aussie hb is becoz there are many aussie guys working in SG so the possibility of meeting one is higher than meeting someone from other 'ang moh' countries ... and also the relatively short distance (as compared to other ang moh countries) from SG makes things work easier too ... And if you asked me if aussie hb more romantic than asians one, I would say not necessarily, it' really depend on the individual ... my hb is an asian but he is as romantic as his ang moh counterparts :p

I've gone out with many guys (including ang moh) before during my 5 years stay in Melbourne yet I ended up with my hb whom I met back home before I went to Melbourne

hey my FH's aussie too! haha. nah, i don't agree that they're more romantic. it really depends on the individual, although i must agree they're generally more laid back than us singaporeans - which might actually be a good thing.

i met my FH while studying in perth many years back, and have been together since. yet, im quite fortunate that the longest we've been apart has been no more than half a year. that's because my FH managed to get a job in singapore shortly after we graduated, and has very recently got his PR status.

reading everyone's experiences is very heart warming

Hi! So interesting to read all the posting. Cus just made me realised I'm not alone!

My FH is an Aussie. Looks typical one but deep in heart, very Singaporean way! Loves all local food and culture (thank god!)

We met in India during a work trip about 4 yrs ago. Now planning for our cross-cultural wedding next year!

We're on long-distance (tell me about it!) since late last year. But I think the flame is still very strong ;)

Anyone had planned or is planning a wedding in South Australia next year? Any advise?

i met my HTB through our blogs. he's in brisbane and i'm in singapore. LDR is indeed not easy...

will be getting married later this year. actual wedding in brisbane and back to singapore for wedding for family and friends here. will be settling down in brisbane with him after wedding

prospective spouse visa will soon be approved and i will be flying there in a couple of weeks' time!!

Hi IslandBride. Welcome to the thread.

I'm actually sharing experiences with other Aussies Brides in the thread below:

http://www.singaporebrides.com/forumboard/messages/36737/473607.html?1183542353

How funny. Its like we are going to be in the same process - LDR, wedding overseas, SG wedding, settling in the down-under, doing the prospective visa. Ha!

Another Aussie bride just went over.. like yesterday! And, I am still struggling with the LDR.

Hope it all work alright. Talk more on another thread!

Heh, I met my HTB through blogs as well and we were attending the same uni too. We're currently managing a LDR until after our church ceremony in Jan 2008 (registry in Brisbane Oct 2007), then I'll be moving to be with him in Brisbane. Hopefully the visa will be worked out by then, since we're planning to put in our application in Oct. *fingers crossed*

I can't say Aussies are necessarily more romantic, but they can certainly be more outgoing and a lot of fun to be with.

Still making the decision to move is a little difficult and while friends and family often coo about how wonderful it is to be able to migrate, I can't help feeling a little anxious about it.

For me, moving is extremely difficult. I'd say many times, my emotions is like a roller coaster - sometimes, I feel I've made up my mind to move, other times, I seem to have two minds about it. And wishing he is the one making the decision

I agree that it all boils down to individuals, be it Aussies or Singaporean men, I think they are that special person in our lives that happen to born in other side of the world.

Melissa, I might be holding my move till Feb. 2008. And this upsets my HTB a great deal. He thinks we shouldn't be apart for too long. *sigh*

Hi gals...

My husband is also a Aussie... and we will be having the Chinese customary wedding in two weeks times, but lot's of details have not been looked into yet .. i'm so stressed...

Hi Melissa... so which part of brisbane will you be staying at cos i'll also be staying at brisbane... near a place call Rochedale...
happy.gif

Miss Lala...
Yes i totally agreed with you... being thousand miles apart is really not easy... it need a lot of trust and committment... at times u will have doubts and fear... and know what, when u are coming to the stage of getting married, you will know that distance is nothing...

good luck

Hi Gals,
Any ladies residing in Melbourne? My HTB is a Chinese Aussie & we will ROM in Melbourne on 8th Feb 08. Both of us are working in M'sia now till 2009 & after we may perhaps head back to settle down in Melbourne or maybe S'pore...depending on job oppotunities.

lavender: The hubby and his parents are currently living in Thornlands, which is super far from the city. We're hoping to live a little closer to avoid the daily 2 hour commute to work. (^_^;)
