May i know what does GL consist? Im also trying to obtain full set experience. But dun know what is fullset.

GL will include passing in of journals like depreciation, accruals.
Basically, the job is to make the accounts complete.

Hi all,

I'm currently working in a CPA firm. My first job in CPA firm...all along in commercial ones. I need some advice as the nature of working in both types of firms are different.

One of my client which I am doing accounts is a new client. Since it is a new one, alot of issues need to be settled. I noticed that my boss doesn't seem to be bothered with this client....and hardly will she give me instructions to do anything, for example GST registration, income tax matters etc. Sometimes it's until the client made noise and then she will ask me to handle them. But when I seek advice from her or ask for her permission/ opinion to proceed with some issues, she seemed so blur and normally will not give me clear instructions to go ahead.

I wonder what's the problem here and what should I do? Is she waiting for me to take initiative and settled everything for her and then update her accordingly, or should I wait for her clear instructions before proceeding?

Tham, based on your description, i think your boss is expecting some form of initiative from you. Gone are the days when bosses and supervisors take us step-by-step. Try taking a pro-active approach but do clear it with the boss before submitting anything to the client.
