I see no point in agent servicing. The car value of a agent serviced car is probably higher by a small amt as compared to the amount we need to 'pour' in for the servicing.

To me, its simply crazy. Why spend so much on a Thai made car, not say its a Lexus that we are going to own for a long long time.
 
About car servicing - yeah, servicing by agent is, pardon my language, plain stupidity.

Firstly, the service is not really free right. You still need to pay for engine oil and the likes.

Secondly, you can always get the same servicing for the amount you pay and there will still be savings.

Only and unless if your car is problematic then I will send to the agent.

Cecilia, even if u don't service with them, they normally would still honor their warranty one.

But will depend on what spoil loh.

As long as it is a defect and not a maintenance issue, it is hard for them to dispute it. Of cos, they can use the terms & condition to refuse servicing but I have not heard of such a case.

yup, they will still honor... i mean since under warranty and certain stuff are in the package i will still bring to them, cos already paid for.. just pay for engine oil lor..

actually where is balcony? i've not been there before.. hee
 
Seriously for the car agent servicing.. what is in the package huh? Not really worth much.

If you really check.. it is really nothing unless your car has manufacturer defects.. that is another story.

depends on which agent I guess. My bro owns a Sunny. Servicing is FOC for 3 yrs including the motor oil.

Borneo Motors only have free 1k & 5k servicing but must pay for the oil. The 'package' Sucks.

Just received their 'promotional' mailer. They are offering extended warranty for another 2 yrs for $600 with condition that car must be serviced with them. *shakes head*
 
Milo, better check that servicing with 3rd parties does not void your warranty, some distributors quite strict on this. i've always said tat toyota servicing is more ex than my alfa... unfortunately falls on deaf ears... the herd mentality seems to think tat jap cars are cheaper to maintain... which is definitely not true...
 
milo, yeah.. if it is 100% free including the engine oil (and good engine oil).. then at least it is worth servicing lah.

If not, I just go petrol station to change engine oil.. But then again, I only change engine oil like once every 20K or 1 year and normally it is time to do more than servicing.. so normally i go to my regular workshop
 
powder, cheaper to maintain cos there are cheaper alternatives. But if compare apple with apple. All agent servicing are expensive. Even if we drive a Proton I guess. ;)

also heard BMW service is damn expensive.. but also not 100% true. During warranty, BMW allows you change most of the parts free (except those wear and tear). So like in my 3rd year, I asked them to change at least few K worth of parts - like water pump, radiator, and others..

How would anyone know you service outside when the only thing you do is to change engine oil and the filter?
 
Actually come to car maintenance.. my 3.5 years old BM is not expensive to maintain.

I change engine oil only at 20 to 25K. And each normal servicing is about 200+ cos I use more than 4L of engine oil.
 
Drove an Opel before. Their servicing plan is every 7.5k. Change oil only every 15k. For minor servicing, it costed around $178. Other servicing costed more.

e.g.
1st servicing 7.5k - $178
2nd servicing 15k - $280
3rd servicing 22.5 - $178
4th servicing 30k - $400
...
After the 4th servicing, I went outside for servicing.

And the air-con broke down within the 1st yr. Under warranty but parts took 1 month to ship in. I drove to Msia in the hot afternoon sun without aircon thanks to the stupid car.
 
Yeah, the only thing is for general continental (not luxury model like bm or merz), their air con not so good as compared to typical japanese ones.

Most compressors will fail after 5 years (at least).

actually i wanted to add that BM and Mercs have the cheapest New parts avail in the market... BM only ex due to workmanship. my fren services his BM all by himself... he is a student and he can buy BM parts with his pocket money...

Alfa offers 5yrs Free servicing package with their cars now... almost bought the car last week... keke

yeah labour charged by performance motors is exhorbitant. That is why I service in workshop outside - very reliable and they have the diagnostic computer as well - so no issue.
 
ya, but i was quite taken aback by the parts prices... i've never serviced my BMs at performance before... we only go performance buy little parts and oil... keke.
 
powder i tot u driving an alfa already?? alfa nice!! changing car ah? continental cars aircon no ggod ah? my friend's audi aircon can freeze me to death haha!

Salsa, it depends on what time dinner will be... I like to eat before 7.30pm so, if we can't meet earlier, I will have dinner on my own 1st.
