A Place for Singles

i wanna ban my hb go in also no use.. sigh.. tell him dangerous already... still drive in with his cousins... my hb kena once i put the incident in one of the threads- beware of JB... very bad la... but i think that guy who approached him is caught. some more so many murders and robberies of singaporeans over at jb...

Salsa, they rob infront of the police station cos they are mata mah!! Being robbers is their sideline... hahaa...

Sad...I got no choice la... have to visit relatives in JB for CNY. At least I got excuse not to carry ang bows!! Hehe... And no need to wear new clothes there also... chin chye can liao.

BTW, my FIL was nearly robbed once. He went to buy dinner and was going back to his car when a man appeared with a knife. My FIL kena slashed on his arm but he managed to escape... v v scary. :P

simpleman.. go on fridays.. and low season. normally sundays and PH are more crowded.. cos more locals.. i like to go low season... quiet, cooling and relaxing...

yah....JB very very scary.
even their pple in diff states oso said so.

when I went to JB last May wif my ex...my mum was very angry. Even showed a newsy report abt a gla kena raped in broad daylight to me. I oredi hide the papers but she still found it. hahaha....

G~gal.....mata working sideline as robbers or vice versa....I think so too

Salsa I already suspected.. the time when the news came out about a condo being burglarised and the security guards dare not call the police. I suspected the police was in cahoots with the burglars. Maybe they get commission for informing the burglary syndicate about places where security is lax. Anyway, recently a forum letter also said that the police there are v v inefficient and can't be bothered. When the writer went to report an accident, the police dun even bother to take his statement.

plenty la... in genting also they smoke in the public.. worse.. at places where its says non-smoking... they dun care much abt the image of their police... or maybe they have none to begin with

cecilia, still must warn ur hubby not to go into jb often lar..me dun go jb unless needed, like attend wedding dinner...moreover, the road there sucks, many holes, spiol my car nia

ah siao.. i warn ah.. sometimes angry dun wan to talk to him.. but no choice la.. i can't do anything also.. i also refuse to go in with him... in case something happens to me, he everything also give in... at least i not ard he can fight all he wants...

If possible, dun even drive there la ah siao. Seriously.... the reason why my ILs still keep their lao pok chia is not to attract attention. Sometimes think also quite sian...can buy new car, new furniture also dare not, cos scared to attract unwanted attention :P

agree...so i will only go in when needed..n i dun get wedding invitation there often..more like once in a blue blue moon...

n i dun think the things are tat cheap to put ur life at stake

Actually unless you travel further into JB like Tebrau or Sentosa (Jusco), the prices aren't much diff from SG. OK lower la, but not worth the effort and time to go there lor. Furthermore, the things are not the latest as compared to KL.

rara, it does not rain in malacca. malacca is hot all year round.

if you want some nice food, you can give this place at 486 tengkera. 10 mins from mahkota. it's a stall just outside their residence, a bungalow like long house. they sell very good peranakan food...home cooked by my cousin's MIL. the kuah pei tie, laksa etc are just fantastic.

if you want tidbits, you will see this shop called Lim Joo Hock...not sure name correct not as you enter malacca from the highway. they hv the biggest variety.

jonker street is a tourist area and all shops open whole day. you will have fun walking around.

i go there every cny to visit relatives. my uncle used to run a photo studio at jonker street.

alot more la, just drive around and explore.

i am sure you will hv fun :-)

G~gal....sometimes dun even need to come back from makan then realised your car is gone
You can even see your car being driven off while u r eating in the restuarant... :D

Ya man salsa... they particular like to target Japanese cars too...that's why my ILs decided to buy a Proton!! Cheap and nobody wants to steal it.. haha..

this one lagi better..step down of car outside eating place, kanna bashed onto the flr n car driven away..haven eat car stolen liao..haa

Actually I have a suggestion. Why don't the car syndicate in JB have a coupon system in which SG car need to pay 100 ringgit to have a sticker which can be pasted on windscreen.

They collect the money and ensure that the car will not be stolen. No need to steal car but can have protection money. Those without sticker they can steal the car. And they should be powerful enough to take out those petty thieves not part of their syndicate. Seriously I don't mind paying if they can ensure that my car will not be stolen.

wow latino! that's a lot of helpful info too! thanx!

malacca does not rain ah? how come i had the impression that they were also affected by the continuous downpour some weeks ago.

that peranakan food stall, do u mean 10min walk or 10min drive? if drive then i'll have to give it a miss this time round cos we intend to walk from mahkota and sightsee along the way, finishing at jonker walk at night for food. then next morning shop around in mahkota parade before heading home.

hey ppl, u all make jb sound very scary leh... i've been wanting to go but now dun dare to go liao. i've only been there once before in 2001. relative's hb drove my family in his sg crv but we stayed at his mum's house and nothing bad happened. phew.

cannot walk from mahkota. yes, maybe you hv to give it a miss. but remember to get your goodies from Lim Joo Hock. you can't miss it cos it on the right side as you drive into malacca town. it's more ex in mahkota.

jonker street, lots of food, chicken rice ball, chendol etc. just eat as you walk along la.

i am sure you'll enjoy yourself eating, shopping n sightseeing.

we compared notes when i see you next time. i will be going again on 2nd to 3rd of cny.

nothing to do w malacca lar, just to inform u pple if wa n buy things mah..

Guys can also go to cosmetic section now mah... since brands like Clinique also have men's skincare range.

Me not getting V day gifts liao...headache to think about what to buy and spend money only. My hb said he's going to cook dinner for me that night
