A Place for Singles

haha guess no one accept reasons that they give, i come out with the reasons to make myself accept... actually they are not obliged to give us money ... so i have that mind telling me 'appreciate things', grant me the serenity to know that there are things I can't change, the courage to change things i can and the wisdom to know the diff.
of cos everything that leaders do, they have to be 'politcally correct' ,can't afford blunders

Powder.. exactly lor..
[i just prefer to have a leader tat says, "hey we need to raise GST to help our poorer sporeans. we've discussed and feel this is the best way, if u have a better idea we're open to it, but in the meantime here's how we're gonna do it" and u leave it Open.]

Did that ever happen? No... every policy is shoved down our throats and as a patriarchal society... Big Daddy knows best lah...

g-gal.. you and powder think alike.. for almost everything you second each other... good to know that someone have your same views... sad to say, i seldom do have someone who thinks like me
happy.gif

anyway, i believe for whatever reasons they give, there is bound to be 'majority displeasure', if the govt say {hey we need to raise GST to help our poorer sporeans. we've discussed and feel this is the best way, if u have a better idea we're open to it, but in the meantime here's how we're gonna do it" and u leave it Open}, other comments will surface.... cos that is the way we are in singapore... procrastinate is the word...

i do believe if singapore leaders are more opened to ideas, we can be better, but who dare to take the risk? who is going to bear the consequences? its the citizens themselves if we are that open..... are you going to blame yourself or the leaders? no, and if that fails, we got to rely on govt to bring us back to our feet again...

... every policy is shoved down our throats and as a patriarchal society... Big Daddy knows best lah...

Eh, this is a genuine question hor. Not being sarcastic. I really dunno. U mean there are really countries who get feedback and try to get majority's consensus before implementation? Then how long do they take to implement policies? Months? Years??

Ceci, got time we drink cyber coffee... i think it's environment lah...

ya man G-gal, a leader shuld be one who makes us feel like Debbie Gibson... "If u say Jump i'd say "how high?" if u say run i'd run and fly...". not one tat says, "u have to jump becos u have to, jumping can help those around u, in fact we jump the least liao, all other pple over the world are jumping already, jumping helps u lose weight and helps u to attain a better fitness level, thru jumping u can also improve blood circulation and thus improve your whole well-being, last time we didn't ask u to jump so much, but now becos everyone around the world are jumping, u shuld also start jumping, the sooner we jump the better."

tat's Scholar leadership and motivation for u...

Ceci, no harm listening to ideas first. u can give a 1 month period.

if our leaders are worried about bearing Consequences, then we chose the wrong pple. the reason why they are cream of the crop shuld include that Strength of character... if cannot take it, dun Stand to be elected. u get wat i mean?

imagine i want to be your MP, then i scared to lose my job, and i try to do things politically correct... then Walau! defeats the whole purpose of u electing me right? i supposed to work for u or myself????

haha powder like that i think anyone can be politician... not even the most democratic country in the world does that, maybe we can... i do think they do not listen much to ideas on policies that are really gonna be disastrous if they backfire. but there are policies which are ideas from the public... humans tend to forget the good and harp on the bad things.

you choose your MP right? voted for the govt. They don't do the job, dun vote for them ... haha!!

laundry woes, people are more educated nowadays. if they have a proper and of cos reason (that they can listen), they will accede, probably after much complaining. thats why now people question the way the govt works, its happens in globalised world... listening to what others say is always interesting, listen to radio 93.8 more... you can listen to opinions from singaporeans, typical ones and of cos there are ppl who talk with substance and sets u thinking for the rest of the day...

yeah abit idealistic i guess... anyway i'm fine with it lah... i love spore very much... there's no other place i wanna die in nor contribute to... i just wish for certain things like everyone else... just a slight breather from time to time, an innovative idea rather than just implementing financial penalties as solutions....

i dun wish to die in singapore though haha! i wanna to be buried, not cremated... no place to do it....

i think CWO is effective, asking me to sweep the floor in the public becos i littered will be so 'malu' haha!

Ehehe... Powder you really "angker" leh... Debbie Gibson...;) But well, I know what you mean lah. We need inspiration, not fear or dogmatic thinking to motivate us to be a more gracious civil society. Think we need a Vision 2020 like our neighbour... :P

I am grateful that SG is what it is today because of the careful planning of our 1st generation leaders and also because of the autocratic socialist system which brought order to our earlier days as a fledgling nation. However, times have changed and it's time for us to learn to fly with the developed countries and adopt a more democratic mindset. How are our future generations going to be able to compete in this new economy if we cannot even think for ourselves and be responsible for our own actions??

Nobody says that change will be easy. Yet, the garmen can help nurture active citizenship by soliciting more feedback and listening more. It may take months and it may take yrs to change the mindset of the man on the street...to provide constructive feedback and suggestions instead of KBKB all the time. Right now, I think we feel as though we're caught unawares when certain policies are passed and we dun even get that opportunity to provide our views and alternative solutions. What if the garmen could give us a timeline...say 3 mths to gather our feedback on a topic before they rationalise their decision to implement a policy? I think people would be more receptive and agreeable, knowing that at least all venues have been explored and that is indeed the best solution for us. Just my thots...

agree that new generation gonna take the pro active approach, talk less and show action more to contribute... i dunno but i always think it is impossible to forsee what policies that will be implemented in near future, and a lot of times, the leaders have to come up with immediate policies to counter the moves by other economies, so how feasible will subjecting all (or at least those that most concern us) policies to public opinion... at least the baby bonus was implemented based on public opinion... what we dun know may not be what they didn't do... the idea of casino was also generated when asked on how to boost tourism in singapore

this topic is so heavy... politics and govt not always fun to talk abt.. haha! and i tot i was one of those who always complained that we were not being 'consulted' before a policy is made....

what shall we talk tmr? its weekends... but i dun feel happy at all... what are the recent good shows to catch?

powder you are man u fan right? think you mentioned sometime ago.. or was it bedokboy? looking forward to man u and chelsea match ...

G~gal ah, saddest thing is tat I actually know which song he's referring to. I also auntie liao. Sigh...

Ideally, that would be the case. To gather feedback and "pre-empt" the idea before actual implementation. The GST hike would be a good platform. However, 1 thing to highlight. Some policies dun have tat luxury of time. It's a misconstruction that the govt takes eternity to implement something. My previous dept has come up with programmes from conceptualisation to implementation in double quick time. Scary actually. U wonder if it's too fast. Whether all the groundwork has been done. But some situations need immediate remedies. Waiting is not an option.

Ya, the change is painfully slow but something IS happening. I'm sure the day will come when S'pore can have a consensus govt. Hopefully the public will also be ready enough to take on tat role. To provide constructive feedback and sugestions instead of just KBKB all the time as G~gal mentioned.

G~gal we really same factory leh...

Ceci u're very forgiving to Top Talents who are expected to perform... hehe

auntie laundry, next post for u...

Depeche Mode gave me my criteria for a gfren/wifey 22 nong nong years ago...

I want somebody to share, Share the rest of my life
Share my innermost thoughts, Know my intimate details
Someone who'll stand by my side And give me support
And in return She'll get my support
She will listen to me When I want to speak
About the world we live in And life in general
Though my views may be wrong, They may even be perverted
She'll hear me out And won't easily be converted
To my way of thinking
In fact she'll often disagree
But at the end of it all She will understand me

I want somebody who cares For me passionately
With every thought And with every breath
Someone who'll help me see things In a different light
All the things I detest, I will almost like
I don't want to be tied To anyone's strings
I'm carefully trying to stay clear of those things
But when I'm asleep, I want somebody...
Who will put their arms around me And kiss me tenderly...

happy.gif

Morning peeps...
Angker Powder... what's "same factory"?? How can your factory be same as my factory??? We're not siblings leh...hahaha....

BTW, I think many people use that song as their "wish list" for a partner lah. My song is:

"Grow Old With You" from The Wedding Singer

I wanna make you smile whenever you're sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad
All I wanna do is grow old with you

I'll get your medicine when your tummy aches
Build you a fire if the furnace breaks
Oh it could be so nice, growing old with you

I'll miss you
I'll kiss you
Give you my coat when you are cold

I'll need you
I'll feed you
Even let ya hold the remote control

So let me do the dishes in our kitchen sink
Put you to bed if youve had too much to drink
I could be the man who grows old with you
I wanna grow old with you

Not really a wish list for me lah... but more like I wanna find someone who deserves the above.

OK today no more talk about politics, scholars, garmen ok? Today we talk about all the fun things that the weekend has to offer. I start 1st huh... I'm going to watch all the shows I recorded this past week..then... erm... nothing else already :P

Oh here's another song... I grew up listening to a lot of Beatles thanks to my dad who's a fan of the Fab Four, Cream, The Who, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple and the like. Here's one of their sweetest songs.

"When I'm 64" by The Beatles

When I get older, losing my hair, many years from now,
Will you still be sending me a Valentine, birthday greetings, bottle of wine?
If I'd been out 'till quarter to three, would you lock the door?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?

Hmm------mmm---mmmh.
You'll be older, too. Aaah, and if you say the word, I could stay with you.

I could be handy, mending a fuse, when your lights have gone.
You can knit a sweater by the fireside, sunday mornings, go for a ride.
Doing the garden, digging the weeds, who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage in the Isle of Wight if it's not too dear. We shall scrimp and save.
Ah, grandchildren on your knee, Vera, Chuck, and Dave.

Send me a postcard, drop me a line stating point of view.
Indicate precisely what you mean to say, yours sincerely wasting away.
Give me your answer, fill in a form, mine forever more.
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty four?

by John Lennon/Paul McCartney

Uncle Powder, wah... So lomantic ah? Erm.. I very shallow one. I dun really listen to the lyrics of a song. The tune works more on me. I more musically inclined hor. Hahahah... As if.

Ya, no politics today. Weekend ah. Is my birthday. I going to jiak & jiak & jiak. Who has too much money & wants to treat me? Eheheh... Buay paiseh one.
happy.gif

Laundry, you are a saggie ah !! good good ...

Happy Birthday to ONE & ONLY ONE LAUNDRY !
May you always be as BEAUTIFUL today and whole year thru !!
May the BIG MAN up there bless you with MANY GOOD THINGS ...health, wealth, happiness and a GOOD MAN !!

Enjoy your dinner tonite !!

Sob... Thankew.. Thankew.. Kam dong... Though it took 1 hr 45 mins for anyone to realise it!! Ahahah... Me petty...
happy.gif

Somehow I haven't celebrated birthdays in recent years. This year must make up for lost time. Have a week-long celebration! Mwahahah...

Latino, ya, me sagittarius. But the other way round. Horse face, human body. Wahahah...

If only good men dropped from the sky. Or better yet, can I customise an order? Eheheh... Another cuckoo day for me today.

G-gal me didn't go yet, have to come back office to work and post with u guys first... tat one more important than my indulgences like shopping....
uhoh.gif

i heard the sales starts today... i've been eyeing a Furla handbag and a Cartier wallet... shall buy them today. oh oh, not forgetting my little girl's stuff...

Laundry... my hb told me these words of wisdom which I shall impart to you for your b-day... "Good things come to those who wait"... haha...

Powder, X'mas shopping already?? I love X'mas but I hate the crowds. Then soon CNY will arrive.. sian ah... hate to do visiting.

ok laundry, since today is your special day, give me your criterion for your GOOD MAN. i help you ask that BIG MAN up there... usually ask him for alot of things before i go to bed..hehehe...

over to you laundry ..

didn't know men also like shopping! i thot men only accompany wife/gf or rather they just tag along... heheh

goooogal..so true !!

G~gal, k lor, I wait. Maybe will meet someone special at the old folks' home. Maybe next door bed some more. No need to send me home one. Wahahah...

Latino, my criterion ah? Refer to "Somebody" by Depeche Mode lor. Actually isn't tat everyone's ideal soulmate? Powder, go where to find har? Taka which aisle? Now sale some more. But my fav 4-letter word is actually FREE leh.

Hahahaha... laundry... mai say until so cham lah... next door bed... hahaha...Wait also must be "active waiting" mah. Like finding a good job.. must send out your resume, ask around for lobang, go thru frens... then everything done already... sit back and wait...and ask the Big Man like what Latino says.

Latino, you always ask a lot of things??? Careful dun be black listed by the Big Man

Big Man:"Alamak... it's that Latino again.. put on call waiting." Hahahah...

BTW, my fave 4-letter word is CASH!! FREE is a close 2nd ;) I hate Sale.. got to jostle with the uncles and aunties for the fitting room and the cashier.

ggal.. ya.. i hate sales... always can't find sizes and worse, can't check thoroughly will end up with one or two defective pieces... i can't shop at crowded places...

Ceci... now we also share same views huh?? ;) Basically i lose the mood to shop when I go to a crowded place. Too bad I cannot afford to go to branded boutiques to shop where there're fewer pple.

Aiyah, G~gal. Joking lah. Tat's not my priority now. As Oprah says, "you need time to heal between relationships... there is nothing cute about baggage... deal with your issues before pursuing a new relationship". Heheh... Of all people, I quote Oprah.

Ji dan gao... Just kenna those China scam calls. Refused to pick up and they can still sms me some more. "Hi Corrine, this is Keisha from Beijing. Pls call me back." Who's Corrine?? Have a good mind to sms back every expletive I know.

just back. hmm, nothing tat great except 10% on Coach using the DBS Black card... actually the range not bad, but i think by the time any of u go tonite the bags gone liao...

Powder only 10%? Not worth it... As a s'porean shoppier, any discount less than 30% is not worth the trouble to jostle with the crowd.. haha... For me, I may only go if there's a 70%... and that's only after 2-3 days when most of the stuff are taken and there're less crowd. Defeats the purpose hor?? And I only go to book sales... :P

wah G~gal.... we sister leh... my minimum is 30% also, keke. Men's brand easily can see 30%... for ladies luxury goods some dun offer discount at all... those type get 10% is like getting gold like tat... by the time reach the taka carpark, your car will be flooded with saliva liao... is LV got 0.1% sale - Siao Liao! pple will start queueing up at 3am until the queue reach Borders...

i like Sales, but doesn't mean i like cos i buy... i just like to go to sales and observe pple Cheonging for the goods... hehe
