A Place for Singles

laundry woes.. i own a toyota vios
happy.gif
.... cheap jap car.. in singapore, i really dun see the need to have super expensive cars unless i have loads of $$ to spend on... my friends are the ones who owns those luxury cars... Lexus RX300, RX8, Audi A4, WRX, Evo bla bla bla

G~gal,
Why not? I'm also reassessing my life now and age-wise, erm... I'm about there too! :P

Cecilia,
Ya... I would love to drive a super luxury car too but I'm practical about it. Personal choice lah.

Eh, don't get me started on the RX8 leh. Eyed it for quite some time liao. Weekend went to warm the seats of all the RX8s on display some more. Ahahah... Thing about RX8 is that Mazda only brings in manual transmission. So have to go PI for auto ones. I even tried to switch back to driving manual gear for the RX8.

Estrella,
I know the Murano is very similar to the RX300 but somehow, somewhere, something's not pleasing to the eye leh. It looks bulky. RX300 is the same size but looks a lot more stylish.

Maybe that's it lor. Murano looks more "man". A lady will look good driving the RX300, but the Murano? Don't quite match. I'm not tall myself. Think I will look like I'm driving an SBS bus in a Murano. Ahahah... Cannot see beyond the dashboard. Eheheh....

hey simpleman! u the brudder! hehe...

Alfa and BMs are the only cars i will drive on slightly abv average income. unless i got lotsa money then maybe maseratis! keke... but back to reality la... i want my children to grow up on alfas!

i tot ladies dun look nice driving big cars.. the biggest that ladies look nice driving in will be toyota Rush... i feel it is sexy kekeke

powder yes maseratis! keke... alfa are good enough...

wah bedok, touched leh... hehe... we the kindred spirits... keep a lookout for each other. mopre a matter of GUM-ness... i move very fast in life sometimes, til 35, i'll be in fast-forward mode... it's funny how having a little baby can spur u to greater heights!

Ceci ah... skidding IS THE POINT!!! if dun skip No Point! if u dun skid, u'll likely flip! anyway the skidding can be controlled, just need to stay confident, conutersteer abit and step on the gas instead of releasing... then u'll have a nice skid... ok ok tat depends on the car, this kind talk like tat hard to explain.

guys, i have a little princess liao leh.. ok ok i advertise again...

Tansy, i representing my baby girl... she's single!

427508.jpg

ya abit fat fat cos she hasn't learnt how to walk yet... still crossing fingers... keke. i'll put her on strict diet when time comes, hehe...
happy.gif

laundry_woes, quite true. murano looks powering. suitable for men and perhaps taller ladies & ladies in power suit...ladies with flair look gd in big cars.

bedokboy,

Actually I also have this fascination of being a cab driver. Perhaps I will become one when I retire from my present job. By then my children will be all grown up and earning 2K plus together with my savings should be sufficient to sustain a reasonably modest lifestyle (by then I would have given up by BM and exchange for a Benz taxi!).

Dreaming big is good but at the end of the day, when you earn more you may not be happier as you may want more and more. Funny isnt it? I have reached a stage in my life when earning a few Ks more a month is meaningless.

Ok lor, since we're all sticking our heads in the clouds now. I like the Lamborghini. Though I can only afford the flaming Lamborghinis at pubs. I should go hang around Bukit Timah area more often.

Toyota Rush is an OEM from Daihatsu. Wat does that mean?

Powder ah, people (aka Takumi from Initial D) can do drifts in a Toyota Trueno leh. You use Alfa. Must use lao pok chia then can yaya papaya about your driving skills mah. Eheheh...

Win already lor. Singles thread get flooded by married personnel still never mind. Put baby pix some more. Cute leh. How you make her pose until liddat?
happy.gif

Estrella, basket. Say I dun hv flair lah.

g-gal,

Somehow being a yuppie I tend to like BM and hate Merz. Don't ask me why. There is nothing wrong with Merz, just a different fascination.

bedokboy, The reckless driver could be me! I tend to drive fast when I am alone in the car. Mostly I will overtake all the cars that are possible to overtake.

Recklessness is relative. If you see me driving from a third party you may think that I am reckless. If you sit beside me you may not think so.

Anyway, I have toned down a lot in recent years - getting on in years - the car also slow down a bit. I still like to do fast corner though - with a R40/235/18" tyres I can overtake most car in a fast corner (except for those sports car).

Tell me your car number so that next time on the road when I see you, I will make you curse me.

ha ha

Erm...i'm not exactly into cars, but i've drove both merc E200 series, and BM 320i. Technically, i would prefer BM cos Merc is like so heavy (I shld say the accelerator is not as responsive as BM). Also, it's far too big a car for me. On personal tone, I prefer BM too, cos it's chic and somehow more stylish to drive haha!

simpleman, ur little gal has got a eurasian look! Gonna b a hottie babe next time! wah tis thread definitely not for SINGLES... mostly married and even got kids!

simpleman,
precisely! bm drivers seem to be always rushing and driving recklessly. adrenaline on the rise? rushing to where? hee..

the 7 series is more executive-like, less of the flirty image.

simpleman, this the youngest one? seen them on your blog before but they must have grown!

didn't know u corner king... maybe we 'play' before. currently wondering whether to get a manual bmw to play or now...

oh ya, i also have taxi driver semi-retirement dreams...
happy.gif

Again back to cars it is really a matter of personal preference.

Hmm.. 3 Series is flirty. 7 series is more executive-like. So I am in between in a 5 series. A flirty executive???

Actually you are right about rushing. In singapore even if you rush from point A to B in the fastest possible time it would save max 5 to 10 minutes. So you are right about that. But there also is a class of people who would drive so slowly - as if they own the road.

tansy,

Yeah, a lot of people are saying that my girl has the eurasian look. But she is 100% chinese.

And single cannot have kids meh?

Simpleman, I also tend to favour Beemer and Audi to Merz. Merz seems to carry the image of a traditional towkay, but the AMG is OMG..ohmygodsexy. ;) Beemer is definitely a yuppy car, whereas I find Audi kinda like its more understated, less glam cousin..Beemer-wannabe (hehe.. oops Bboy :P). I'm more a VW Beetle kinda gal.. Boho-egocentric-idiosyncratic me! Haha.. But my dream car is more like a flamin' red Ferrari... Eat dust all you plebian drivers.. hehehehe...

powder,

those were the days. I am much slower nowadays. The best BM to play are the M series. BM does not believe in turbo and it is all raw power. The M3/M5/M6 may look like a normal BM but the power inside is amazing. Manual transmission is a possibility, especially the older Ms.

As for taxi driver retirement plan, I am serious. I am thinking of getting the license soon. Actually it would be good if the government relax and allowed private cars to be used as taxi - still need to take course and license and car has to be fitted with meters, etc etc. this will actually help ease peak hour crunch on taxis and also allow us to make some money to pay for petrol/maintenance. Then at least I can be a high-end taxi driver and fulfil my retirement plan sooner.

actually i'm fine with BMs, it's the Huge mercs driven by aunties very slowly tat irk me... there's a hokkien saying, "dun have big head dun wear big hat"... same applies.

but wat irks me most is those jokers who buy HUGE HUGE cars but only pay for 1.6-1.8 litre, then load the car FULL of pple, and drive on the right lane when it obviously has no power to move... irritating as hell. not to mention it blocks everyone.

estrellalq, erm, to be honest... no decent driving man who knows cars will drive the Murano... but i am HIGHLY biased against non-sportscar Nissan cars.

sunny drivers are the worst hoggers on local roads, from 1995-2006 Sunnies... they are slow, unaware and unfocused. Those driving Nissan Sunnies who make it to the Big time... will buy a Nissan Cefiro and have the same freakin driving style, even on a more powerful car... i suspect they are there to save petrol... yet they buy a car with horrible petrol consumption. eeks!

just for the heck of it... my most hated cars on the road...
1. Nissan Sunny
2. Nissan Cefiro
3. Hyundai Matrix
4. Kia Carens
5. Toyota Fortuner (making itself up the list, Drivers dun realise their car swerves into your lane)

hey simpleman, i serious too! besides taxi, i thinking of being the dumpster man and maybe going back to work at Burger King making burgers...

yeah i drive abit slower now cos running out of demerit points... i got 8points deducted for "speeding" down orchard boulevard at 78km/hr at 3.30AM !!! my goodness, and beside me was a few other taxis at similar speed... well, have to wait to get it reinstated.

actually the new series got manual, 6-speed in fact... wanted to buy it with my kakis but i just could forsake my alfa... now if i can have both, pple may think i stupid cos very similar cars except alfa is FD... used to drive the 92-94 vanos 318, 320, 325 before my biz downfall...

What about the Volkswagen Bora? Now the Passat. Understated glam. Kinda grows on you after a while. Heh. Have we named all the cars yet?

Powder & simpleman can take the conversation elsewhere liao. The rest of us are lost in car jargon.
happy.gif

haha powder hates nissan!! i am not into nissan but find the look of murano powering, makes a statement.

g-gal, that’s what I like abt audi…it’s understated, but glam w/o being flamboyant. on the other hand, I like VW Beetle too….white, yellow and limegreen...so sunshine..haha..

powder,

talk about most hated cars:

a) Nissan (whatever model)
b) Korean Car (whatever make)
c) Honda (whatever model)

I hate Nissan for the same reason as powder had mentioned. But also because my driving instructor many years ago is having a Nissan. On a rainy day, Nissan is very noisy when the rain was powering.

As for korean car, I believe it is just pure bias. Still think the korean has some way to go - they simply got no style.

As for honda, I have nothing against the car but more against the attitude of the car salesman many years ago. Wanted to test drive the Honda Accord (many years ago) but the ya ya salesman was tellling me, no need to test driver lah. Everyone know how good and quiet the accord is. I was pissed off by this kind of attitude and swear to never own a Honda. I never did.

The most pleasurable Japanese car is of course the Lexus. Most exciting are the mazdas.

laundry woes: lost in the car jargon. all the more we must talk here to educate...

powder,

ha ha u got demerit points? In my many years of driving, I only got booked twice - both time for speeding. Once was many years ago, driving 70km on a deserted and dark road (mobile was hiding) and the other time was few years back - book at 115km (when I did > 120kmh). Traffic cop was very polite and nice. Now I think I have no demerit points. better not be too ya ya.. most of the time when we talk about it, so suay will kena booked.

Actually talking about aunties driver big Merc it is all so true. A few years back I was at clementi car-park waiting to park my car. This aunty with Big 320 was trying to get out of her lot but was having problem (she parked head in) and there were some blockages). It was holding up a lot of traffic as she kept going into the lot and out but still could not get out completely. So I got down and reverse her car out for her (and of course I took her lot).

Wondering why don't they drive a small little car if they are so poor in parking.

U say one har. Actually I wanted to ask:

- FD is front-wheel drive?
- What's the diff between the M series and the normal 3, 5, 7 series?

hahahaha, tat's wat i'll do too! i reversed or park cars for pple sometimes cos they take too long! but mostly cos they were driving someone else's car and not car owners...

my 2nd generation Hyundai Sonata was doing only 6-7km/ltr! the improvements in recent years is ok, but not great.

and yeah, i think the sales pple play a part too. when i was selling Alfas, i let them take the car from bukit timah to marina south to play cornering... when i went to test-drive jap cars with frens, it's just driving tat bloody 5-6km around the Leng Kee area. and worst - cannot step harder nor corner nor rev... At least for BMW/Mini, we can go a few rounds to 99 at bouna vista... tat's wat i call a test-drive. anyway the sales pple are spoilt by consumers who buy without testing... 50-60k and no test. But buy $10 fish press here press there until fish spoil... keke, ok abit irrelevant but fun to mention!

M series are souped-up (or BMW on steriods) version of the normal 3, 5 and 7 series. M stands for motorsports. Originally it was created for BMW to participate in motor-races as it became successful, BMW decided to put the modifications for production cars. Basically, they have more power engines, better suspension, better aerodynamics and styling.

The objective of BMW M is to sell factory production sports cars that are comfortable enough for everyday use while offering uncompromised driving satisfaction and performance.

powder,

BM salesman is good. Can actually call them and they will drive the car to your office and you can test drive from there. No need to travel to their showroom.

ya, agree. same with alfa ok? hehe... but different lah... one got money, the other one dun have... somehow i never like pple to drive to my office, i feel like abit of a towkay doing tat... i love these cars and treat them like ladies... so i prefer to go down to see them... like wooing like tat.

wah so nice to see simpleman and powd clicking.

Paiseh guys I zzz-ing. Heh.

So, how to reply everyone? I try to remember lah all the posts I have read so far.

Ya driving a taxi also my dream. But it's a dream because first you must have made it somehow to be able to afford driving a taxi. And the dream is not to drive taxi to have to make a living. Drive taxi is for fun one. I also want. Drive drive drive happy happy 3pm I activate Powder and Simpleman go some coffeeshop lim kopi. Who don't want? Haha.

Wah BM service so good? I finally confirmed it once again. That Toyota salespeople really one kind of attitude. My friend wanted to buy car went to see Toyota. He say you have to open your mouth and ask before someone attends to you. If not, you walk around there no one cares a hoot about you. Like that very bad leh. Then who don't want to sell Toyota? Don't they have newbie salesmen who should be more than willing to serve you?

simpleman, your younger girl looks like googal. Hahahahahahahaha... oh and parking merc should be easy right? They got front sensor, side sensor all. That time sit my x-colleague's SLK, parking that time so noisy. front also sensor, side sensor, back sensor. Wah liew. After you park for the tai-tai, you take her lot only ah? Hahahahhaa, never take anything else? She should be so impressed got hero come and save her.

laundry your dog very handsome. I'm not good with dogs but that's what they call a husky is it? Some more special type one, one eye different colour from the other.

orh ceci, just come for the gathering lor.

see good to see everyone clicking. Try and make it next week lah. Now got a bit of chemistry going b/w everyone, it shouldn't be boring lah. I just hope the banter hasn't kicked off too soon.

Anyone is welcome to join.

walau the way u say like we're enemies like tat... actually if u noticed, we're all opinionated due to our firm experiences in life.. beats meeting someone with no opinions man! hehe...

Driving fast is ok but sometimes are we too preoccupied in getting ahead of others (a trait apparent in sporeans??) that we forget our safety and etiquette on the road? Driving is supposed to bring us to our destination, not a cursing and swearing experience.

actually i am so free because I am on leave. ha ha..

bedokboy: so you are organizing the gathering is it?

Actually it is quite OK to meet. I actually also meet up with people in the divorce thread more than a year ago. We meet up on/off for activities like go hiking, go jb for makan, go kelong, or just having dinner and/or drinking. sometimes we may organize bbq - i think there is one coming up in december.

One time stranger, second time can be friends already.

Just let me know in advance. I am generally available.
