For wedding favors... I just went to JB yesterday. Bought sky blue and ivory boxes that goes well with my color theme ( blue). Decided to put some nice chocolates inside. Boxes looks presentable with a nice ribbon on top. Cheap too! Each box cost around $0.30 cents.

Yes, I'm looking for a good spontaneous live band - acoustics with a tight budget constraint. Any good recommendations?

I used Fete Musicians, they are a string quartet, not really a band, but their prices are reasonable, starting from $500-800 onwards.

Hi vvzz,

Do note that the prices could have changed since last year.
We chose a string quartet instead of a live band because we went to a few weddings with a live band, and it really can be too loud, so loud that we were unable to talk/listen to one another in the table.
I didn't take note that night so I'm not sure if they played our whole playlist, we had 10-12 repertoires.

They are a bunch of uni students, they were very professional for students, veery prompt in their emails and correspondence.
They have a list of repertoire you can choose from, here.
Oh, my guests loved it, maybe because the songs we chose weren't really typical.
I really applaud them, they learnt the Game of Thrones theme song for us.
I would rate them a 8.5/10, a 8.5 because you can't compare them with the really good musicals but more than a satisfactory level.

Hi there @vvzz would you mind sharing where you got the boxes from in JB?
Do they have many varieties or a website?
 
We bought them at Angsana (shopping mall). Yes, lotsa varieties. You can check it out. :) there are a few shops selling similar stuff but the one I went to is a Chinese owner. At level 2 or 3, can't remember.

Basically it's dependent on the room size not the number of tables. And also dependent on the sound quality.
But I feel it shouldn't be an issue for 30 tables

is it also appropriate to have sad song during the banquet? it is one of my favourite songs though!
 
Lianlau, my friend recently introduce them to me as well. Who did you engage and the charges throughout dinner? I see that there are additional charges for sound equipment etc.
 
hi, i engaged for moxi and gx. i really love her vocals. its not cheap. 800 for 2 pc band, 300 for sound system rental and extra 200 for engaging moxi and her musician. but rly like her voice so willing to part with the money!

Nah, I think it's fine, I had Smells like teen spirit and heart shaped box, Nirvana as one of my playlist and I thought that was pretty inappropriate, but it turned out okay. In fact I had some compliments having great music haha, so don't let that restrict you.

Do you all have any good AD photographers to recommend that's not too pricey (preferably below $1.5k)?

I'm a dec btb and i havent secured my AD photographer yet :eek::eek:
 
In the end, I'm going with 3sessions live band - Jocelyn singer cum pianist and another 2 instruments. Quite a gd deal~

Mine also interracial -Chinese + Indian muslim. I'm curious abt the customs, which part of muslim and Chinese custom and tradition are u incorporating into ur wedding? Like guo da li/ si dian jin etc, do u follow Chinese one?

i will not be having gatecrashing, therefore no videographer..so photographer will be more impt to me..

I recommend nicholas leong photography (: and he's doing a promo now! 1.2k for 2 photographers (more coverage and angles) to shoot your wedding for the whole day. passionate and dedicated!
but you will need to check out his photos to see whether it's the style that you like. can search fb page for him.
Alternatively, mojo ideas are popular too but more ex.
can also try out 'underonetree ' pg dawn. her photos are nice too (:

i engaged nicholas leong! my wedding will be in early march. but im actually quite confident of them. he is also not calculative, like he reassured me that even if the hours exceeded, it's ok de, he not very particular.

a word of advice... will be to choose photographers that you can feel their passion. it goes a long way!

thats good to hear!! u got 2 photographers? or just 1? i know of another photographer who said actually just 1 photographer will be enough... so I'm pretty..confused now..
 
I got 2! actually initially I wanted 1. and i also heard that 1 is enough. just that this package is too good! 2 photographers machiam price of 1. and each photographer can film from each place eg bride and groom! For 1 pg, what they do is they reenact, cut and paste. and ok lar, for me is also security purpose, 2 safer then higher possibility of capturing moments hahaha. or one can focus on bride and groom, another one on guests. etc etc!

There will be many versions out there so depending on what works for you! personally since you are not engaging videographer... thought 2 photographers can give you more moment photos from various angles haha. I was told by my pg that he will edit all photos and usually at least 800 photos will be given. ..

yups to me i also feel that having 2 photographers is a sense of security too.. in case 1 screws up haha..

he doesnt work individually... he believes that 2 people can provide more coverage and better angles... hehe. if you want 1, you can consider a budget one like alan dai, charging maybe now around 880?
