(2014/10) October 2014 brides

hello oct BTBs.. omg, i think i'm really lagging behind in planning for my oct 11 wedding, just started researching and planning in jan only to realise i've missed alot of wedding shows and promotions! and most of the Oct BTBs started planning in 2013! stressed..... :(
there's a lot of chatter on Digio and sophia here, anyone visited Julia wedding news? i love their white gowns, but have not really seen an evening one that i like yet. seems like they are quite pricey too. anyone knows where to but/rent nice evening gowns?

Don't worry, as long as you settle your bs and venue. The rest will come along nicely

Hi Cescajo
i hv no preference for 1-stop or designer shops actually, i love classic lacey gowns, maybe that's why i fell in love with julia's gowns, but their evening gown selection is really limited and unappealing. (any other recommendations for bs with such dresses?) i missed all the bridal fairs, which on hindsight, i think i'm lucky cos i won't be pressured to sign up a package there and then! so yea, agree with u that visiting the shops to see & try the gowns personally feels more real, it's like.. oh wow, i'm really getting married! i was helping a friend out with her wedding in hawaii, their bridal studios there really make u feel like a princess, with the huge mirrors and the platform.. it juz blew me away. hopefully i can hv the same experience here in sg! i also just learnt that there's a price difference btw off the rack and new collection dresses, i felt like a mountain-tortoise when the sales person intro-ed the packages to me! thanks for the advice and keep it cmg! :)

Hi naturesea,

What's your budget? Are you going for one-stop bridals or designer shops?
I've been to Julia wedding news when I was hunting for my bridal shop, and I wasn't really impressed. If you just intend to just focus on their gowns and not photography, it's fine. I felt the lady there was showing off albums of famous people who have been their customers (e.g. brother of JJ Lin etc.) for the sake of their own accreditation. When we flipped through that said album, the photographer was mainly taking photos of JJ Lin, and not the bride and groom at all! Price wise, I thought they were too pricey as well.

My fiance and I went down personally to the bridal shops we wanted ourselves. We also checked out bridal shows as well, but we were glad we did not sign any package on the spot at the bridal shows no matter how good their deals sounded. Visiting the shops is important so that you can see the full collection of gowns, try on some of the gowns, see how well they're all maintained even before you decide.

Good luck!

I booked everything already. Bridal, actual day pg&vg, banquet. Now what i need to do is slim down and save lotsa of money... lol..

This wedding process is enjoyable but yet also stress.. :(

Same here... And the waiting just kills.

I am now looking for bridal car, toy for the car, jie mei's dresses. Not sure what theme i should have...

thank u! i haven't even settled my venue!! *sweats*

No worries, do you need any help? I have done most of my prep already so if you need Info I can provide.

I am only looking for jm dresses now.

I have settled everything including the theme and also the venue, bs, mua. Most of my items are aka carte though so we did quite a lot of leg work.

Do you want to try calla bridal by Casey loh? I am getting my dresses mtm there and they have quite a nice collection. You can speak to Casey and see what he can come out for you. You can choose either Otr or mtm as well

Yeah naturesea,

I like lacey gowns too! More timeless. I'm with Digio. I like Calla Bridal's dresses too! I heard Casey used to be the designer at Digio, so Digio's designs are pretty much his style too. Or you can try Rico-a-mona, their sister company.
I'm not sure if you can replicate that same feeling in Hawaii though. Haha.

I'm looking for bridal car too! Lobangs anyone?

i went to rico-a-mona and looked at their OTR on display, they looked old and dated, not much lacey gowns to view too. maybe i'll have a walk along the Tj Pgr stretch again...

me too! i'm looking for a white beetle/audi/bmw convertible preferably, if u have any deals, let me know!

No worries, naturesea. I would suggest you make an appointment first before gg down though cause they are by appointment basis only. Do you need recommendations for vg and pg?

Lol. Jm dress that is the headache part cause other than colours I can't control anything else. Still waiting to see what my jm prefer to wear. Cause not everybody look good in the same thing.

Haha I not efficient. I started planning for the wedding since 2 years ago when I first got my condo. That's y can chilled a bit now.

My theme was also set a long time ago and everything else just worked towards it. So my process for planning the wedding was kinda like in the opposite manner.

Anyone has idea for entertainment at the banquet on a budget? HTB doesn't want a photobooth and I'm trying to rack my brains.

We are thinking of doing caricature and getting a roving photographer to entertain the guests before the banquet.

I don't like the idea of photobooth too.

ya.. i'd probably start scouting ard for BS soon, FINALLY settled my venues.. *phew*! now onwards to the theme, gown, vg, pg.. car.. etc! yes, pls send over your recommendations for vg and pg! i'm quite particular abt the actual day photography style.. wanna capture the candid moments and the emotions.. so may need a pg with photojournalistic kinda style..

for wedding car, does anyone know what's the rate like for a wkend rental? not sure if i should get the convertible beetle in oct since weather is unpredictable these days! anyone rented a beetle before? is it too small to fit in the big dress with the can can?

wah.. it's gd u hv the luxury of time to plan since 2 yrs ago!! :) i wish i hv that kinda time so i can plan all the details out!

oct brides.. press onnnnn!!!

Well done, at least there is one more thing off your list now! :)

If you are particular about the photography style, maybe you can try chris woon from Moretopurple. I am using them and my fiancé and I are also quite particular about quality of pictures taken.

My ad and pre wedding videographer is simple motion. You can check out his works on Vimeo if you are interested.

If you need the contacts or need help just let me know k?

Yes, I agree with your last statement! Pressssss onzzzz.
