(2011/01) Jan 2011 BTB

Hi ladies.. his dad prefers that we do everything here.
From our solemnization to our dinner.

Our ROM is supposed to be in a chapel in Bali, followed by a dinner in the evening.

I don't wanna start our marriage off on a wrong note with my in-laws.. so have told my FH that I will go along with his dad's wishes, even if it meant upsetting our plans.

We are deciding now whether to hold our banquet in Sands, but the price is really cut throat. Argh! And we're still trying to find a church now (our home church doesn't have a building yet).

I hope his dad doesn't change his mind again.

Joyle: Yes you can ROM in another country. Singapore recognises marriages solemnized elsewhere.

For our desire to wed in Bali, their country's requirement is that we must have the proper civil ceremony done - the wedding must be officiated by both the Government Registrar as well as a religious body.

There would be other protocols to follow - we will have to go to ROM to request for a certification of our Marital Status. And this document has to be sent to the Singaporean Embassy in Jakarta and the Embassy will then issue a letter stating our intention to marry.

My AD is on 01 Jan 11.

We are looking for a more centralised church - preferably the traditional ones like St Andrew's. Small church will do, we are planning a small guests number for it so prefer something cozy.

Banquet we're planning for it to be done in a 5* hotel.
Hopefully around 1.2k per table for about 20 tables.
We really like Sands, but it came to more than 1.6k. Not sure if we wanna spend that kind of money.

Thank God there are still hotels available for dinner for that day. Now, our concern is to find a church and then changing our bridal package to fit in the AD stuff in Singapore.

Thanks gals.

hmmm are y'all christians or Catholics? yall can try St Theresa's Church...

I'm not sure if its still open for public... but i heard it was... if not Chijmes?

But some churches has night services on that day, and its near to Xmas so might be a little hard... JIA YOU in ur church hunt... really pray that u can find one soon...

Thanks Evon! We're Christians, so not sure if FH will be comfy with having our solemnization in a Catholic church and St Teresa's is Catholic right?
But I really, really like the building. Thanks again for the suggestion. Will discuss with FH and see how it goes.

hello gals!! jus wanna share my experience with a freelance videographer i met during the week.

i met this VG in Bishan on tues evening. Supposed to meet at Bishan MaC. but he sms to ask if we can change to another restaurant bcos his WIFE wants to eat there. for a moment i was quite blur as i didn't expect to be meeting his wife too on such business meeting.

Anyway i agreed to his request since it would be a quick meeting. However, when i reach Bishan, i found out my HTB had already got me a drink. so i nicely ask if he can come out of the restaurant to have a quick meeting instead? and guess what?? his reply was: i am having my dinner, give me 10 mins.

i thought he was very unprofessional but still decided to give him another chance by waiting for another 10 mins.

when i finally get to meet him, he did not even bother to intro himself or his wife. he took his own sweet time to take out his laptop and even engage in small conversation with his wife!!

me and HTB felt left out for awhile but decided to end everything fast. i am really disappointed with such work ethics. even though i am paying a lower price as compared to the better VG, i would feel that being professional is very important.

hmm. not very nice to disclose him openly. maybe i am jus unlucky lo.

but if u google wedding videographer, u will probably see his link coming up.

Hi Rachel, I'm looking for PG and VG and my combined budget is abt 2k, I saw from previous posts that you have a list of PGs and VGs ard that range, do you mind sharing with me?? hee... thanks in advance!!

Joyle - we're both baptised Christians. We've tried Trinity Methodist - not sure if that's the same one.

have confirmed on my venue, bridal boutique, PG & JP. currently still sourcing for videographers who can process express highlights during my lunch.. equally importantly.. my bridal car.

what are the other important stuffs should i start sourcing for?

pinkcoral>> yeah.. should be the same one. it's under AOG too if im not wrong. just went to a church wedding today, barker road methodist. its in the same compound as ACS Barker. Quite nice, high ceiling, nice stain glass design, pity it was raining today.

lissy>> ur BS dun provide bridal car? or borrow frm relatives/friends if u aren't choosy with the type of car?

Thanks Joyle! We just wrote to Barker Road Methodist Church. I just saw the website and it looks really good.

We saw another church today who asked for $2k for their function room!

j0yle_t> nope. my BS doesnt include cars. yup, did try to look for friends' car but one of those I tried asking is also getting married in early 2011. mum is pan dang and wants me to avoid.

pinkcoral> hi!! yes.. i wanted to confirm marina mandarin, i love the mandarin court! but the banquet pricelist for 2011 was only released like 3 weeks ago? plus, the coordinator wasnt very helpful with my enquires when i checked them up in Jan & Feb. Fiance and I have already confirmed another venue on the day before they released the prices.

evon gladys woo> you too is having a wedding lunch? may I know the charges?

Lissy - Mandarin Court is in Meritus Mandarin, Orchard. That's different from Marina Mandarin.
Great that you confirmed on a hotel. That was one of our biggest worry at that time - finding a hotel for our desired date.

thanks evon! will check them out. you should confirm your venue soon too!

pinkcoral - yes yes, i was refering to mandarin orchard in my mind. must have been dreaming.

have you ladies confirmed your bridal studio?

pinkcoral, wow! that is next week!! i wanted to have my shoot in July / August but its gonna be winter in perth.. we just postponed it to september. hope weather will be good then.

do you have to bring your gowns over or there will be another studio in taipei for you to pick your gowns?

Cangai have studios in Taiwan and Singapore. So for prewed, I will choose my gowns when I reach TW.. and for AD, we will choose them locally.
happy.gif

Perth! September will be nice for Perth, the weather will be nice and cool.

When's your AD?

yes, thats what i remember.. Cangai is a taiwanese bridal boutique. what's the total package you paid? i shortlisted my dream wedding, but they had this seperate package for overseas and local which is out of my budget.

i really hope the weather will be good in early september!

im the no. 98745th BTB to have my AD is on the hot date, 1 Jan 2011. hee!

pinkcoral.. haha.. im kidding. but there are really so many of us getting married on 1 Jan 2011! I was telling fiance that its not hard to bump into another bride on the expressway on new year's day. keke!

Yeah.. really a lot of couples getting hitched on NYD! A lot of the venues are all booked up already.. helpppp. Still need my church. Growl. :p

Kale: some gowns has support already, in that case, I personally feel that its not needed for additional nubra.. unless u want it to be... really big?
