haha..... actually come to think of it.... as long as mentally prepared then start to have bb.... so that's why now must set aside $$ for child exp...

Is true...my lecturer told the whole class... further she got 1 son 2 daughters...can imagine the monthly household exp can be really high lor...

She said her daughters exp are quite reasonable...but her son can used up to $2K per mth... i was thinking OMG...i cant even save that amt monthly, how to raise up a kid lei ???
 
aiyah, that $400 to play with other kids no need one lah..... my SIL also sent my niece to simi crawler school to learn how to crawl. then my friend's son same age never go for such things so my friend can't be bothered and there's no difference in the two kids. so morale of the story is never spoil your kid with such luxury. we never need them so they won't need it too....
unless we got lots of $$ to spend lah...

i agree with all of you all loh.

like my aunty, send my 2 cousins to kumon and Britsh council for lesson. it comes up to 1k/mth. and that's excluding their chinese tuition, TKD as ECA and school buses. wow... so much of money involve loh.
 
jenn cos nowadays parents are both working and they will feel guilty that they are not spending enough time with their kids so they use materials / toys etc to make up for it.... that's what my immediate boss is doing to her 4 year old son. simi toys he want, she sure buy. can imagine, she bought the whole range of "cars" series and even buy the T-shirts for him.... and indulge in whatever birthday cakes he wanted and every other week, she sure buy toys for him.... so i asked why? she reply that she is guilty...
 
precisely daphne! when my coll told me abt the $400 play-wif-kids thg, i went ?!?!?!? if my mama gave me $400 when i was 6mths old then, tink i immediately call her MAMA instantly liao!! haha.

jenn - i tink 2k/mth really alot leh.. faintz.. me and hub combined take-home-pay not even more than 5k, ownself oso YangBuHuo liao, how to YangHaiZi..?! haiz..
 
aiyoh daphne, my hub's nephew got the whole range of Thomas the Train sets.. i see oso faintz! he got the waterbottle, towel oso hv!! and 1/2 of it is my MIL buy one.. really spoil him.. and every yr bday muz hv Thomas the Train cake which easily cost a bomb to specially make it..

me & hub see liao oso shake head..

ya loh, every mth after all the expenses, the remaining all goes into joint a/c leow. save also cant leow. how to spent that kind of money on a kid.

Last time, we oso need not go for such pro class mah... we all go to PAP school when 5/6 yrs old, standard 7 yrs old in pri school..

is the culture and living expectation that make the parents difficult to raise their child...
 
janf, haha.... ya my colleague also always on the lookout for Thomas the Train! cos all boys so now i also know Cars, Thomas the Train etc.... there's another one....something builder...Bob Builder i think... and all these toys hor, not cheap!

my another guy coll oso send his pri 2 son to kumon every mon and thur, sat learn chinese, swimming and tkd.. i pity the boy.. so many thgs to learn until no time for himself..
 
jenn....precisely lor..... heng my hb says next time don't send the kids to simi dancing / drawing class....he just want them to go for one enrichment and that is TKD cos he's teaching that and he felt that it's a good eca cos of self defense. but the rest, when they grow older and sure they like it then go... else will be a waste of $$ if it's just 3 mins thingy....
 
haha...janf, my colleague sent his son to Adam Khoo's bootcamp! it's 2k each bootcamp leh.... how to be entrepreneur and the son just finished O levels.
 
daphne, its BOB THE BUILDER!! my newphew oso hv tat toy! faintz ah! i even know how to sing the song of bob builder coz everyday playing the cd in my hse.. huff!

last time our pri sch fees only $3.50/mth, now duno how much liao.. last time tuition $100 can cover 2-3subjs, now 1k oso dun can cover 3subjs anot?!

hub's niece and nephew go for swimming classes every sat and easily few hundreds gone a mth.. last time where got go class one?! our pamas juz throw us into public swimming pool and we paddle paddle outta it..!
 
swimming class? i tot now most pri school got teach already.... haha.....anyway, next time if this sec school is still around, send your child there...they teach swimming in their PE - Outram Sec Sch cos that's where i learnt my swimming from and our PE test is 50% swimming cos they got this mega big swimming pool in the school.
 
ya but adam khoo class for adults i also bu she de go cos so darn exp..... and he is sending his son there....somemore he took 1 month leave last year to checkout london to prepare his son there for uni overseas next time.

i got one friend worst. the gal only K2. she is already completed her advance swimming lesson leow. on the list, practically every day, she got swimming, ballet, piano, phonics & abacus classes, also some other enrichments classes and one more very expensive sports, ie golf lesson.
not only that she also get the gals to memories everyday the alphabets and the pic shown or reprensents in the picture dictionary for children when she is only in play school. we all call say she is crazy leow.
 
yes yes outram sec sch got the super big pool! my classmates in poly alot came from outram..

linda, i tink the K2 gal very kelian.. only 6yrs old and learn all sorta thgs liao.. somemore learn golf.. the golf club so long how she hold?!
 
linda, k2 and learn golf! pengz...... wah lao, no wonder kids now not only stressed but i think their school work also not as good as ours cos too many activities and cannot focused!

ting, that's why i think we can all change jobs to those that cater to kids.... as long as can add value to kids, sure got biz one.... now even got bb massages etc..... haha hb was telling me why not go and learn and next time can teach.

jenn- reali pity the kids nwadays.. cannot enjoy childhood like last time. nw all got hectic schedules to follow.

ya loh... when she told us, we are like, wow... you very rich hor...
but anyway, they are rich loh. hb bring home pay got 5-digit one. as for her, dun need to work also can, but she wan to work, cos she cant stay at home one and best of all, she dun do housework at all, all done by the hb. she is one of a rare women with a good hb.
