Dress recommendations for pear-shaped bodies?

To the ladies who are pear-shaped (smaller on top and waist, but wider hips and thighs), what style of photoshoot/actual day wedding dress did you go for? And how do you cover your arms also if they aren't real slim and toned? Do you have photo examples of your dress? Photos would be great.
Which brand/bridal studio did you get the dress from?

Problem areas: arms, wider hips and thighs. Bust not so full either. Not flat, but not exactly your C or D cup la.
For reference: I am already exercising 3 times a week, and watching diet too.
So it is not as though I am not doing anything to lose weight ya. I will still be pear-shaped even when I lose some more weight. Hips are just wider width than some girls who are thin/boyish shaped/ruler-shaped.

the most flattering for pear-shaped should be A-line?

Hi, sounds like my shape!
I tried on all sorts and many, many dresses (I couldn't decide what look to go for - sexy, elegant, etc, so ended up with 3!).
I came to the conclusion that A-line and fit&flare/trumpet are most flattering for my pear-shape. Sometimes fit&flare are not distinguished from mermaid silhouette so I looked for those that starts to flare out from the hip instead of below the knees, which makes a big difference in balancing out my hip, since I'm only 5'4" with a longer torso than legs! I have uploaded pics of the 3 dresses (sorry resolution not great as I had to crop them from bigger pics) - think you can see what I mean/ the difference between the dresses based on where they start to flare and which neckline is more flattering.
Try to get the inflatable stick-on bras - I got them relatively cheap from a stall at Bugis St Market. I didn't have time to tone up my flabby arms, so I chose laced sleeves for my banquet entrance which looked gorgeous. This was also the dress which got me the most compliments from the ladies on the night; definitely more uncommon.
Hope the above helps.
All the best in your gown hunting - it can be both fun and stressful, but try to enjoy the process!

A-line and mermaid!
Will go check out A-line dresses first. hmmm as for mermaid dresses, I was thinking it would draw a lot of attention to your bottom-heavy shape? hmm. but ok, thanks, i'll try. maybe if choosing mermaid, will need to use more padded bra cups to make the bust look fuller so the overall body shape looks more balanced in the mermaid dress : )

i will advise against mermaid for photoshoot (esp outdoor) as it's so hard to move around! i had my PWS overseas recently (9 outfits) and ended up choosing mostly A-line as they're the most flattering and easiest to move around in. Tried just one fitted/mermaid-ish gown and I couldn't imagine myself walking around/climbing up and down in that tightness for hours.
I guess I'm slightly pear-shaped and I feel mermaid will accentuate the unbalance-ness of my figure.
