One march in for wedding banquet

Hi all BTBs!

One of our friends suggested to my fiance and I to have only one march in for our wedding banquet so that we will have more time to mingle and interact with our guests. Would like to know if other graduated brides have done this / BTBs are intending to do this as well?

Hope to hear some thoughts on this! Thanks in advance (:

1st March in = Cake Cutting
2nd March in = Yam Seng

Will the stage be overcrowded with cake and glasses? o_O

I am also planning for one march in. Nobody is going to remember the different gowns that you wear anyway. I rather spend more time interacting with my guests as well.

Ps: I am not having cake cutting ceremony as well as I do not see the significant on doing it

As an attendee of many weddings, I have to agree that time will be better spent interacting with guests who came for your celebration rather than the ceremonial formalities. Too often we see so much time spent on the change of gowns, the moving in and out of the ballroom preparation. Better to spend more time on each table catching up with your guests. :)

Yes! My fiance really likes the idea of having just one march in actually, and I'm getting convinced by him because I actually haven't really attended a wedding where I thought the evening gown was stunning. So may be better to just wear the pretty wedding gown throughout the night? Hahah. Will probably have to rely on the emcee to invite us up on stage then, if there is no second march in!

Ya, totally agree! Hard to find a stunning evening gown. But if wan to interact with guest, the gown must be easy to walk around. Hard to find those gown that is as pretty. Hmm.

I do not have the schedule yet as my wedding will be feb 2017.

We are planning to make additional videos to show the guest instead. Like our pre wedding preparation video and trip videos =)

In between those videos, my hubby to be and I are planning to entertain the guest for our respective friends. At the end of the event, then we will both go table by table.

You can also have your own live band if you want if you feel the programme is too plain =)

Hahahha. Yup!! But me and my htb seldom take photo de. So we have nth to show.

When first March in, go up stage and toast champagne (instead of cutting cake) is it too early??

Usually toast champagne would be at the end of event as a symbol of the end of the happy occasion.

If that is the case, spend more time interacting with every table of your guest. It will be more meaningful =)

Showing videos sound like a great idea! Too bad we don't have other videos to show either, and we're probably not gonna make a pre-wed video. Was thinking of having some games/interaction instead, but still brainstorming!

What I can also suggest is that you can make a Thank you speech video i guess. To thank everyone properly =)

I'm doing a 1 March In only.

March in sign paper, cut cake
Give a quick speech
Serve food
Walk ard entertain take photo

No yam seng

hi ladies, do you mind sharing schedule and experiences for 1 march in only? Thanks so much!

I did one march in for my wedding banquet last month. Felt it's less of a hassle than changing into another set of clothes half way. Our wedding photographer also commented that he has done quite a few weddings with only one march in.

Our plan:
  • 1st dish
  • video montage + march in + cake-cutting
  • 2nd - 5th dish
  • champagne toast + speeches by wedding couple
  • rest of the dishes / table-by-table photo taking
