Hi all, I hear that we need to prepare ang baos for parents on the wedding day? Is that a common practice? If so, what is the point of reference to how much to put in the ang bao?

Hi all, I hear that we need to prepare ang baos for parents on the wedding day? Is that a common practice? If so, what is the point of reference to how much to put in the ang bao?

Usually it's the parents who give the couple ang pows during the tea ceremony but I suppose there's no hard and fast rules if you want to give something to your parents as a gesture of appreciation. Many of our friends gave their parents flower bouquets but for us, we decided to spend a little more and got presents for our parents. We ended up getting a bracelet for my mum and a necklace for his mum while my dad got a nice shirt and his dad received an ornamental deco piece... On a side note, if any of you have younger siblings, they will be the ones serving you tea instead during the tea ceremony so you'll need to prepare ang pows to give to them..
