ROM first? Lunch buffet? Dinner banquet?

The bf and I have been in a dilemma for some time. As our bto is currently at the painting stage, we have had friends who got the same bto project marrying this month. Judging from the progress of the bto, I think it may most probably complete 3Q or 4Q next year, although the completion date is 1Q 2016.

Till date, we have not gotten anything done and the bf hasn't even proposed! Despite that, we have been discussing briefly about the wedding prep on whether we should ROM first/hold lunch buffet/wedding banquet (maybe solemnize before dinner). Because the bf is still studying and paying off his school loan, while working, we are afraid of the wedding costs involved.

Anyone has any advice for us?

If I were to choose, I would prefer having everything done on one day although it is very tiring. But if worse come to worse, I'm actually fine without dinner banquet.

Then what about Guo da li, tea ceremony all those? I think tea ceremony is a must out of respect....

We've not discussed with our parents on this too...

Depending on your budget and parents request. For Guo Da Li, itself will cost roughly $300 for wedding cakes, and buying those bedsheets and all sorts of stuff, (excluding pin jin). After Guo Da Li then you will have the tea set to do the tea ceremony.

I would recommend ROM before the lunch/dinner banquet. Split into 2 = 2x the cost for makeup artist and photographers. Keep it to a small banquet, easier to manage the guests as well as the financial issues. Bridal packages easily starts from 2k and above. The angbao for the helpers and gatecrash all these easily 1k and above, additional cost if you want to rent a posh car.

As for mine, 10 tables, estimated total cost 20k (plus prewed photos 3k)

Depends what you need. If no photoshoot, the AD package usually will be 3 sets of gowns rental (wedding, evening, kua) same for the groom. 2 times of makeup with trial, 10hrs photography, corsages, car decor and flower bouquet. Extra stuff like bridesmaid dress and bestman and fathers' jackets as well. Just be careful of them, feel that they are pretty cunning, add this and that. Make sure they write down everything in black and white.

I think we could have the bto key first before producing the marriage cert right?

My bto is ready next yr. But I will only rom tgt with banquet in 2016. I rmb the hdb personnel said before we could take the hse key first just need to inform them the banquet date. Or rom date.

if you have taken the grant, you need to produce the cert before or upon key collection. If not within 3 mths after key collection. Again, might be subjected to case-on-case basis.
Heard from some friends that putting them tgt can be quite tiring. Renovation and wedding preparation.

congrats bearine!

we took the bto 2 years and we barely made it for the AHG Grant. :)
so i'm wondering if HDB is stricter towards those who took the grant.
i know that hdb only allows those who have valid reasons to extend the rom cert deadline, for e.g. someone in the family passed on or u can show wedding banquet receipts or something. but im not sure how long it can extend....

HDB is quite anal about couples who took up the AHG/SHG and applying under the fiancé/fiancée scheme. The ROM cert must be produced upon key collection... or at least, thats what I know so far. There MIGHT be exception cases tho.

For those who didnt take the grants, as long as u have 'proof' of your upcoming wedding, you can delay the cert submission. My friend delayed for 1.5yrs.

That was what I thought so too that HDB will be 'stricter' in requiring those who have took up the grants to produce their ROM cert upon key collection....

Nevertheless, has anyone who has taken up such grant, successfully delayed theirs?
