AD Angbaos Rate to helpers (2014)

I did a research but realised the last thread was 2007. Would like to seek advise if the following is ok?
Gatecrashing 188 (divided into 5)
Jiemeis 38-68 (I gave the most to the reception girls)
Brothers - 38-88 (I gave the most to those who is in charge of day n night)
Photo/ Video - 8
Boys who open car door - 18
Flowergirls - 18
MUA - 8
Hotel Manager - 88

I heard from my colleagues that their friends are not that happy when they receive just $28 for their angbaos

Hi

I think friends shouldnt be unhappy and expect a lot from the couple. It is a happy occasion and I'm sure they are here to share the joy and help out in any way as well. So it's really not for them to feel unhappy/ or request for a certain amount.

From your list, suggestion will be:
- Hotel Manager: I don't think you need to give that much. TO be honest, they are just doing their job, and hence I believe a token amount will do. & trust me, they won't do more/less because of the red packet you give them
- Gatecrashing/Jie Meis: I think generally since Jiemeis have the gatecrash red packet, their other red packet is just a token amount, so you can look into reducing the amount
 
If I am the jie mei and receive $28, I am happy enough. I do not even mind not getting anything! It is just a token of appreciation. Need to give Hotel Manager, photographer/videographer and MUA also? I thought only the sisters and brothers and the flower girls and whoever opens the car door for you. :rolleyes:
 
for my wedding, i provide my bridesmaid with makeup for all and about $80 each (inclusive of gatecrashing). For the bro it is $80 each. We booked a mini bus to drive everyone around so cut down on driver angbao and petrol.

Videographer/photographer/ MUA: $28 each
open door boy: $20
Pageboy & page girl: gifts and provide their clothing and makeup
wedding coordinator: $350 cos she really helped us to oversee lots of things as a friend.
hotel coordinator: $50
banquet manager: $28
other helpers: $18 to $50

Give wat you are comfortable with and not the standard market rate. As y some are not happy, i fully understand cos i had been through it. One of my fren got married and only received less than $30, if i could rem clearly around $25. Considering that she wanna certain colour and promised to pay for us but never even return us the $$. Told us to took cab which cost me about $20 and also never reimburse us. the dress and cab already costed be about $100.

Because of this bad experience I provide everything for my bridesmaid.

Wow you're very generous! I can understand why you were upset with that friend of yours. Fact that she said she would reimburse but didn't is just very unreliable...
 
actually why need different amounts? I think I'm a bit lazy... can put $38 for everyone?

I've been a jiemei 7 times and my angbao (excluding gatecrash) is from $18 - $288.... whatever the amount I'm happy cos I do it for a friend. But I think it's still important to give some money cos the Jie Meis buy things for the gatecrash la.

I think that a great idea to give everyone the same amount.
 
If my mum gives the photographer, videographer, banquet manager, hotel coordinator, do I still need to give? Is either me or my mum give right?
As for jiemeis, brothers and helpers, both of us will give them.
 
I will only prepare 1 angbao ea, except 2 for bridesmaid cos of gate crash. But total amt will be the same as the major helpers.
I didnt say I will let them claim the cab fare. :oops: But i will be estimating it and add it in angbao.

But when to give the angbao ar? Some will be involve in the day, and all will be involved at night.
 
My friend hb gave us during the gatecrash, and her and her hb mums gave when we reached their house. Those involved at night maybe give before the banquet starts? Before the guests arrive...
 
just my opinion.. i think it will be easier to give in the day before helpers leave for the day.. be it helpers in the day or night.. cos by the time recwption starts etc, everyone will be busy with their own roles, and mums will usually be dolling up and entertaining guests.. :)
