Hi all,
Any reviews on Carlton/Novotel/Grand Copthorne Hotel? Currently looking at these hotels for my wedding banquet..
But i have less than 20 tables so alot of hotels are out.. :(
I went to Carlton before. It is nice and the favors is just atas. But the package is not really attractive.

I find it too little for crowne plaza to only offer 12 complimentary wine for lunch and we even have to pay 50% for food tasting.

Anybody managed to negotiate on this?

haven't booked. but some of my friends asked for more wines, free extra table, free air tickets to maldives with stay (same hotel group as their banquet), 2 food tastings instead of 1.. just to name a few :)

How about discount for printing of invites, favours, hotel stay for next year's anniversary, etc? Extra rooms for your helpers or relatives if they want to stay the night or for friends/relatives coming from outside of sg?

Just a word of caution for BTBs looking at Parkroyal @ Pickering: Even at the preliminary stage of arranging for an appointment, their bad service is already showing. Coordinator kept asking me to go view the ballroom myself and their manager will not be free until 3 weeks later.

hi ladies, i've got a question to ask. hope someone is able to enlighten me.
in my AD package, I was quoted day and night makeup. However, I am having a luncheon so night makeup doesn't really apply. I just wanna ask if I get a touch up or a full removal of makeup before my banquet, isit also considered as a night makeup? thanks!

for wedding lunch, is there sufficient time to do a full removal of makeup and do a new set?

Heya, if you are doing all your tea ceremony etc in the hotel (i.e less travelling time), you should be able to redo a full make up.

omg!! mine is the same or almost the same as urs!! just that mine has got side diamonds for the settings. hahas.. its from jannpaul as well..
i didnt ask them for a pic though..

we have good taste. lol

Hi babe, it's not the Holiday Inn Group. Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza and Intercontinental Hotel all falls under the Intercontinental Hotel Group.

RIGHT!! i was like thinking IHG means what...hahahaha

Who is your coordinator? My experience with my coordinator was a pleasant one so far.

hi @elly_z, pm me if you'll like to know, not comfortable mentioning it here.

The very raved coordinator was Diana and she is off for her maternity leave.

Hi everyone,

My wedding is march 2015

However , I still unclear whether to get a standard bridal package or ala carte .

Reason being, I would love to have all photographs returned instead of bargaining with the bridal shop. First, weak in bargaining & review said In-house photographer skill is so so ..

Getting ala carte mean the cost is much higher and I have source for my own gown .. AD and pre-wedding !!!

Can anyone advise? Anyone know which bridal shop provide everything except photographer at a reasonable price ?

Thank you

Are u open to home salons? There are a couple with very pocket friendly rates :)

thanks for your reply! do u have any experience with wedding luncheons? Any idea what is the schedule like? Eg tea ceremony before solemnization or vice versa?

the bridal studio mentioned that for the night makeup component, i can either use it for "before the lunch banquet" or "before 2nd march-in". any recommendations?

the BS also mentioned that a simple touch up and change of hairdo is also considered as a "night makeup". personally, i feel kinda short-changed cos i dont get a 2nd full makeup due to a wedding luncheon but yet i have to pay for the night makeup component =( sigh

hi there! I'm getting mine all ala-carte as well. And yes, the costs are much higher. For me, I am particular about photography so I'm engaging an external photographer instead of the BS in-house photographer. For AD gowns, pre-wedding gowns and shoot, I got them from separate vendors as well. It really depends on what's important to you and of cos, your budget :) what's ur budget like? Do note that, you have less bargaining power if you are going ala-carte. I have friends who managed to get their all-in-package less than 4k (they managed to bargain alot!).

i'm also going a la carte, and i agree about the quality of external photography being better.... you really need to do a lot of homework and research which can be tiring but also fun in a way :)

additionally, i didn't want to deal with the pushy sales people from BS and having heard horror stories about the hidden charges, topping up costs for things that may not make much difference in the end etc...

Thanks sunshinepixels & lemons :)

My budget is about $3k - $3.5k (Max).

My worries for engaging BS:
•quality and quantity of photographs
•bargaining with the sales person

My worries for ala carte:
•budget
•new designs gown
•lack of times as I need to liaise with many vendors and research a lot- need to search own car decoration, men suit, dad's suit

For ala carte, I am looking at blessed bride and the gown warehouse

For BS, I am looking at rico a Mona ,the bridal room & le grand!

I really salute those who engaged ala carte!!! Is such a big project !!!

Hi babe, this is how it usually runs:-

Before 10am: Groom to pick bride up and head to hotel
10-10.15am: check in hotel
10:30-10.45am: Solemnization
11am: Tea Ceremony

Note that you need to factor in more time before 10am if you need to go back to groom's house. ROM & tea ceremony should be planned as close as possible to lunch timing as you don't want the guests to sit around getting bored.

You should be done by 11:30 and will have time for a full make up.

I will suggest you use it for second march in, because your make up will still be relatively nice and fresh for first march in considering it is still early. You can do simple touch up of lipstick or wiping of smudges yourself :)

It's been so long that I post here and I'm so happy to see so many 2015 brides here...

I have confirmed my wedding date 10 Oct 2015... didn't use tong shu or look for any master to calculate bazi...

i recently attended Raffles wedding show and Master tong was there to give a talk... on a side note, we sign the package with Raffles Hotel.. Getting the ballroom and the lawn (for solemnisation)

understand that usually hotels allows the wedding couple to use its venue for solemnisation for free/discounted rate when they sign a banquet package with them.
can the banquet and solemnisation dates be different? like 1 year apart?

Hi Babe, you can try to negotiate, but usually not.

Also you have to consider that when you do it on the same day, drinks are served because it is your cocktail after the ROM. If you do it on a separate day 1 year earlier, you'll probably be charged for drinks and food, if any.

I understand your worries... cos im facing the same issue as you too! actually if you book the AD package with the bridal studio (just AD gowns, with no AD photography), the BS will include car deco and men's suit. so not to worry about that! I have signed with z wedding for my AD gowns. but i am having second thoughts so i might be selling it off =x saw nicer gowns at silhouette the atelier. argh.. decisions decisions..

thanks mcpig for the schedule!

My solemenization is from 11am-12pm. Cocktail is at 12 - 1245 and lunch commences thereafter. I dont know if i should do my tea ceremony in the hotel (after solemnization or after lunch) or at my house. any advice? what's the norm?

im all for the 2nd march in too! but if i do my morning makeup at 5plus 6am and considering the hot weather in singapore, im thinking if i should put my 2nd makeup before lunch commences.

Hi babe

Solemnization is very fast, about 20-30 minutes. So you will still have time to do the tea ceremony after that.

Hello fellow Jan bride! Do u already have a budget and a few venues in mind?
For gowns, I think it's totally up to you. If you don't mind, renting is cheaper so you can save the money or spend it on other things for the wedding. I don't see the point in keeping the gown also, so if you rent you don't need to worry about keeping it and taking up storage space.

My banquet and solemnisation will be more than 6 mths apart, coz we wanted to register on a meaningful date, instead of date picked for auspiciousness, if there's such a word haha..

I think some hotels will offer use of a smaller function room for ROM if available, and it's usually FOC if u ask early on.
