Anyone booked europe tour at EU Holidays ?

ger_mummy. If I am not wrong, the travel agency will have to refund you 100% if group is not confirm due to not enough ppl or they will change you to another date...

Just back for a 15D trip with EU. Overall, satisfied with the trip. As mine is a big group consisting of 42 pax, most of us are cooperative to be punctual and as such all sightsee locations were done except for the Eiffel Tower. Yes agree that the optional were slightly too many but its actually quite worth it.... markups for the optionals were not too high considering the fact the transportation were catered for.

Hi,

how come the Eiffel tower tour was not done?

I just booked mine yesterday too. I booked pretty early. Going on Christmas eve actually. Know that probably some of the things might be closed there but always wanted to spend Christmas in Europe. Hope the trip will proceed and go well.

Another SGD$800 - $1000 including tips/city tax in Itay. Yes, if the tour guide knows how to plan, optional tours can be squeezed in; luckily my group was led by one of the senior tour guides.

Food is okay but I was greatly disappointed with the French cusine in one of the nights. Nice french restaurant but bad food. When I said bad, its really bad. But the rest of meals are quite okay. I am not a fussy eater anyway. There is also one of the night with Chinese food cooked by Chinaman..... bad but edible.

Hi, can anybody pls advice what are the MUST GO optional tour and what are the ones that we can skip with EU for Italy Swiss Paris tour?

Dubai is only for those who flew Emirates. Anyway its good...eye opening with all the majestic buildings. Price for shopping is on the high side thou.

back from 13D Italy Swiss Paris trip via Cecilia Hooi. She is great and very experienced in planning our time to spend efficiently.
There was one dinner meal, Chinese food after Pissa tour named Ristorante chinese pechino food was not very nice, hair was found in dishes served and fish in two of our gp tables were not fresh.
We experienced snowing in swiss. Overall i feel that the meals catered to us or we have to pay on our own were very nice based on Cecilia's recommendation ! Most of the hotels were up to our standard expect for 1st night in Milan the hotel was v pathetic as it looks very old and dirty.

hi nameless83, thanks for sharing! So how about the optional tour? Is it worth it and you took up all the tour?
Hi Hourglass, we did not go for all the optional tour only a few which were recommended by Cecilia based on our group interests. Eg if only a few wanna to go Optional tour A then she will not go ahead as its really inefficient to only let the few who wants to go as the driver will need to drive up and down again which really will make the whole trip stress due to timing. We traveled everyday without any stress or worry not being able to catch the rivercruise etc.

Hi everyone,

This response may be a little dated, but we wanted to reflect our feedback about the tour too.

My family went on the 13D Italy-Swiss-Paris tour with tour manager James Leow in June 2013 and got back rather disappointed with the trip.

Accommodation: On the tour brochure, hotels stated included Sheraton, Crowne Plaza and Novotel hotels but there was almost a complete failure to honor in this regard. Out of the nine stated hotels, eight were changed. Some of them were dismal, motel standard lodging. Look up <Russott Hotel>, <Hotel Pineta Palace> and <Mercure paris la villette> for an idea of the uncomfortable lodging we had to suffer.

Optional Tours: While customers were given the choice towards whether to join an optional tour, the TM didn’t seem to have a plan in events when the group opts out. We were stuck in a small leather shop for over an hour and then ferried to a supermarket when our group decided not to join the Milan factory outlet optional tour. Some tours were also ridiculously priced. 45 for factory outlet shopping in Paris (solely transportation, no meals, no entrance fee), 95 for additional full day tour in Paris (which brings you to montmarte (free attraction), 3-4 hrs of shopping and a perfume museum), 30 for Sistine chapel (entrance is 16), 30 for seine river cruise (cruise is 16). Mind you, these prices were per head. Our family ended spending over 2k additional per head on such fees (including service taxes 80, and city taxes 4 which was not included). TM likes to play the pressure selling trick, saying its hard to change the itinerary or all go else none go, but its best to stand firm since it's your money.

Food: Almost all dinners unless stated otherwise were Chinese restaurants. This wasn't a problem because some customers like Chinese food except that it was really substandard, almost single ingredient dishes; a plate of white cabbage, a plate of omelet, random pieces of meat. Even the French dinner in Nancy was rubbish, cafeteria style food. As was the Lafayette dinner; at a sad chinese restaurant in the Lafayette shopping center. You have to settle most lunch on your own too, do take note.

Tour Manager: While this could really be hit or miss, we did not enjoy Leow’s service, or the lack of, the duration of the tour. He’s what you call an empty vessel, quick to speak but lacking in substance. His tour management was apathetic at best, uninformative, inefficient and frankly rather dim. Some of the group were left (including us) were left in a different hotel (in a dangerous neighborhood), with zero show of concern, neither that night nor the morning after. It’s fortunate the tour included local guides at various destinations to ease our ears from the mindless banter.

In addition, after-sales service was also quite horrendous. We did not get our free luggage as promised (they said they run out). No response to questions, complaints and feedback from the management (i think the sales staff do try their best to help) especially when it comes to the accommodation arrangements.

Though the destinations are wonderful, packed with sights worth seeing, the combination of unfair accommodation replacements, extravagant optional fees, incompetent tour management and lousy food had sunk our anticipation for this best selling EU holiday tour package. I doubt we’ll be returning customers. For those who are interested to read more, a detailed review will be up on my blog once I find the time to write it (with lunch recommendations for the many places you have to settle meals yourselves) so tag this post to follow it.

They quoted SQ or Emirate? How is the price?
Initially, we want to have Christmas in Europe, but ppl advise that Christmas shops close, day short and some attraction may close.

I have enquire the 25th Oct Italy/swiss/paris, By Emirates with FOC Dubai

They quote emirate with 2 day in Dubai, one of my friend took this package with them a year ago and they said not bad, the hotel they had stayed is the same as CB. The only thing is one of the dinner is not very nice.

But I think whether to go Italy or not cos my friend mention to me that the pick pocket rate is really very high in Italy and the tour guide keep reminding them to be watchful of any stranger who hang around them or stare at them. Maybe I will look at swiss/paris with optional London.

I am contemplating to go with EU for the 13Day Italy, Switzerland & Paris with free 2N Dubai in early October. I have compared with a few other tour agencies and EU offers the most competitive rates. Wonder anyone has signed up the same tour? Though there are mixed reviews about EU, I did enjoy my last winter wonderland trip to Finland in Dec 2012.

hi,i will like to share my exprience with this agency Ho wah travel .We are a group of 30 passengers travelling to italy swiss france on the 23may 2013..we will like to compliment our tour leader mr ken yong whom we know for 13days. He is a conscientious, enthusiastic and decicated leader in carrying out his various duties in exemplary manner to our satisfaction. He is very knowledgeable on european countries, his bilingual explanations is clear and understandable. His capability in the arrangement of the activities ,food and lodging has been complimented by the group members. They were impressed by his sheer professionalism. We will not hesitate to recommend Ho wah travel to anybody. If my time permits i will join them again..

I went with Eu holidays to Europe this june. It was a fantastic trip. I can say most of our tourmates had a great time during the 13D with tour manager James Leow. I personally think member Lonesight is doing a great injustice to Mr Leow. James clearly shows his care and concern to us... unfortunately, we had a passenger with us that is always making things difficult for james, being super fussy and expect 1st class service & attn. He will complain on anything under the sun. You know who you are here. Almost majority of the tourmates find him a nuisance in the group. But james had handle him with much patience. I salute james. If I'm not wrong, member Lonesight had posted in tripadvisor naming himself Ben as I realise it's a cut & paste. We find the acccomodation, food etc value for $ though. My advise is, if you want to have personalise attn, book a personal tour guide and join those premier holidays prog. Its just shows how shallow a person is for making certain disparaging remarks and defaming someone cause he's not treated like a king.

I've travelled with EU Holidays during my honeymoon, the itinerary was very well planned and professional. They did a good job in engaging a local guide which helps us to understand the culture better. The tour manager, Mr James Leow make an effort to arrange transportation for the tour group even though one of the attractions which we requested was not in the itinerary. Besides, he took good care of the elderly and making sure that they are comfortable and clear on the itinerary meet up time. Thumbs up for his patience towards the elderly.

We do not have to worry about insufficient time to shop in Paris. James would make effort to bring us to another shopping mall within walking distance when we told him that we can't find the bag design that we wanted.

I would probably recommend EU Holidays to my friends.

Came across this forum by chance. My husband and I joined the same tour group in June. The trip was average and I thought the comments on the cost, accommodation and food was fair and accurate. I did not recall anyone in the group that make himself a nuisance though, I wonder why tweety72 would say that... As for tour manager, I'll reserve those comments to myself. I guess it depends on luck and personal preferences when it comes to these things.

We did not buy much but wine from Italy and chocolates from switzerland are a must-buy for me.

Hi All,

Wonder anyone will be travelling with EU-Europe (Italy/Swiss/Paris) 13Days coming march 2014?
As me & my wife will be travelling with them for our honeymoon =), it would be great to know some friends before gg...

I did some research before opting for EU holidays, for sure EURO tours has been their specialty and focus all these years.
As a results, its turn to their strengths from other competitors...in-term of itinerary and lodging and probably costing wise.

Beginning a customer of EU, i would hope EU as a reputable TA continue to maintain their high standards and services.
Personally, i would certainly be making my conscious judgement after the trip for sharing.

Lastly for menbers tweety72 & Bluehorizon39, it was obviously created to counter comments from menber lonesight.
I wonder how genuine their posts are...

How I wish I have read this forum review before I signed up with EU Holidays. My experience is exactly the same as Lonesight below. We just came back from Europe end Dec 2013 with EU Holiday.
The service of the tour manager is poor, leak of knowledge; sometime give wrong information. She didn't take good care of the tour group. She always walk very fast, the children and older people always find it hard to catch up with her. Tour Manager-Cecilia. I was shock when she tell the tour group don't waste time to visit Lourve Museum as there is nothing to see inside! (nothing to see in the world famous museum?? Wow!!)

The Optional tour is "Compulsory". I think this is EU strategy to force you join the optional tour. If you opted out, you will be left halfway in a stranger small town while the rest go for the optional tour. Who ensure our safety and meal in the small town? At the end, we paid approx. extra $600+ more for all the optional tour.
To all those who intend to join EU, don't get attracted by their cheap package tour price, at the end, you paid more than other tour agents offer.
Accommodation: Similar experience as Lonesight. The worst is ...we plan to experience xmas in Europe but end up in a motel along the highway in the xmas eve. There is no shop, resident, people at all to celebrate xmas. The worst xmas eve I had!!
TM also intentionally skip some of our itinerary. Eg. Our package include visit to 2nd level of Eiffel tower. TM claimed that the queue is too long to go up and drive us to another tall building to see the city view.
Promotional Free gift: Simliar experience as Lonesight, we didn't get our free Europe SIM card. They said the company closed down.

My experience and Lonesight is so similar, it is definitely EU strategy and not a coincident.
For those who intended to signed up with EU, think twice.

The after-sale customer service is bad. I have feedback my experience to EU after the trip, they take 3 weeks to reply. They just blush off our comments and claimed that they have fulfilled everything. Their reply is totally insincere. The customer service person who reply our email is also one of the Tour Manager...multitasking.

Travelled with them last October, flew by Emirates (Switzerland/Paris/Dubai- should be thrown in by Emirates airlines). We felt we were pretty much shortchanged and the whole group actually went down to have a meeting after the trip and to have a meeting. Food was subpar and tour guide wasn't a person who took care of the old and the young. He also didn't speak much on the tour bus nor did he provide much advice. Overall not an informative person and doesn't start the day off by introducing the places that we are going to.

Some of the group went on the optional tour, including myself which was a train ride to Jungfrau. But alas! the train ride was only halfway and thereafter we were shortchanged of the train ride up all the way to Jungfrau. It's abit silly to be there and yet not being able to go all the way up. When we asked the tour guide he came up with all sorts of excuses that it wasn't provided for us to go all the way up and says that the altitude is not good and some people will feel uncomfy. When I came back and asked my colleague about it, she's in her late 50s she said she experienced none of that sort and said it was such a waste we didn't managed to go up.

Then again at Matterhorn we were only at the bottom as well and we didn't have any chance to go up so we merely had a meal there provided by the tour and merely walked and shopped around.

Also, we didn't managed to visit the rhine waterfalls as the tour guide said it would be too dark by the time we reached there but come on they should have already know that since the flight timings are all fixed and he didn't tell us about it till after we had our dinner and proposed that he will replaced it by a visit to a lake. That lake which he brought us to was one listed in the itinerary which means he didn't replace it with anything else.

After reading all the comments here, I am certain this is just their way of doing things and so called strategy.

Hi, I just came back from my first tour to Krakow, amazing time for me; people are very polite (of course you can always find someone else). We were in CASTLE WAWEL, it's one of old royal fortress. We saw the Wieliczka Salt Mine. View from the hotel? Beautiful river Wisla.
We had the opportunity to explore the biggest Nazi Concentration Camp in the world: Auschwitz-Birkenau. We believe that every young people have to go there to saw what people can do to each other. For a long time I was in shock after seeing this place.
In the end we went to the mountains, exactly to the Zakopane ;)
If you have the opportunity, I would recommend to go there.

I just came back from Berlin.. how long are you planning to be there for? I think 2-3 days in Berlin is enough to check out all the sights

Hi All,

I just signed up my honeymoon trip with EU-Europe (Italy/Swiss/Paris) 13Days on next year march 2016 at Travel Revolution fair last Saturday cost S$3,200 (incl.airport tax)
And today, only found out the review from here and mostly not a pleasant comments to them. I am so worry about my Europe trip with them now as we have almost paid the full deposit ... sigh..
I've been told all tips/service fees all are included into package and will be staying at 4-5 stars hotel such like Novotal/Hilton..
Anyone have recent expericence with EU Holiday on their package/trip/optional tour (we do not been inform that optional tour)..Can give me some reviews. This will be very much appreciated!! Thank you.
