With the most romantic day of the year coming up, you might start to be on the lookout for signs he’s going to propose.

You’re in a relationship that feels like it’s headed somewhere special. The depth of your connection suggests that a lifetime commitment is not just possible but likely. As the years count down and you get more and more comfortable together, you might start to wonder: Is he thinking about proposing?

With Valentine’s Day approaching on the calendar, you don’t want to be caught unprepared emotionally, or worse, be immortalised in the proposal photos makeup-free, in gym shorts and a tattered tee. On the other hand, you don’t want to get your hopes up or doll up excessively just to end up going to a coffee shop.

While everyone’s journey to the altar is unique, there are universal signals that could hint that your partner is about to get down on one knee. 1. Future Talks Become the Norm

When your significant other shifts conversations from weekend plans to lifelong dreams, it’s a strong indicator that they see you in their forever. Discussing future children, where you might live, or how you’ll navigate life’s bigger challenges together shows a readiness to commit. If the two of you are having frank discussions about what life together might look like, you can be assured that he’s thinking about marriage.

2. Secretive Behaviour

If he’s suddenly protective of his phone or there are unexplained absences in his schedule, and you have no cause to worry about any untoward explanations, he might be planning a surprise that involves a ring. This secrecy is often a sign that he’s coordinating with jewellers, friends, and family to make the proposal perfect.

3. Financial Priorities Shift

Has he stopped buying himself little frivolities, or indulging in that daily latte? Or perhaps he’s been suggesting lowkey dates instead of splurging on expensive restaurants recently. A more frugal approach to spending or an uptick in savings can indicate he’s budgeting for a significant expense. Since engagement rings and weddings are considerable investments, a sudden focus on finances is a clue worth noting.
