Wendy and Victor’s Scenic Destination Pre-Wedding Shoot in Munich, Germany
Wendy and Victor decided to document their love in Germany as they embark on an adventure in a place they’ve both never been to.
Wendy, 39, and Victor, 42, knew they wanted to travel to a new destination for their pre-wedding where they could explore a new city together and document their love for one another against a unique backdrop, so they hopped onto a plane to Germany, where they captured their love in Munich, a city with plenty of city and natural landscapes.
Tell us what your proposal was like.
Wendy: It was surreal. My husband gave me a surprise proposal in Venice, Italy while we were on a walking tour. He remembered that it was on my bucket list of cities to visit, so he hired a photographer to bring us on a walking tour since it was my first time visiting Venice. I did not have a clue then as we would usually participate in walking tours to get to know a foreign city better. He told me the only difference was that we would be taking some photos along the way to captures the beautiful memories, so I was just enjoying the sights. We were on a bridge when the photographer said it was a nice spot for a photo. Just as I thought we were posing for the camera, Victor knelt down and proposed. I was very touched and burst into tears. The rest, as they say, is history.
Where did you go for your pre-wedding shoot?
Wendy: We chose Munich because we wanted a place that was new to both of us and where we have never been to. It was a good opportunity to experience a new place together and also to have our pre-wedding shoot in a city that offers both city and natural landscapes. Munich’s Autumn weather was perfect in October and we were really happy to be able to shoot in the largest city palace, Munich Residenz. We also drove to Ebisee and Linderhof Palaces, which we highly recommend for couples who are shooting their pre wedding shoot in Munich.
The other bonus was that our trip coincided with Oktoberfest, which we had not exactly factored in then, so we were really lucky to secure the air tickets and accommodation! Needless to say, it was quite an experience!
Take us back to your pre-wedding shoot. What was the day like?
Wendy: We were deprived of sleep and nervous! I had to wake up at 4:00 a.m. to start my makeup session while Victor was more relaxed – he even went for a hearty breakfast at the hotel! We were also practicing how to smile in front of the mirror before heading out. But, it was definitely worth it. My photographer, Acapella Photography, and makeup artist, Raine Yeo Makeup, were very encouraging and made me feel very relaxed during the shoot. They went the extra mile to make the shoot fun and enjoyable for us.
Were there any difficulties or challenges during the shoot?
Wendy: We did not factor in that we were travelling to Munich during Oktoberfest, so we were really lucky to be able to secure our flights and accommodation. Our advice to couples travelling for a destination pre-wedding shoot would be to check for local holidays and peak seasons. It would be good to have a discussion with your photography team as they may have more experience and would be able to provide good inputs during your planning.
Share with us a memorable/funny moment/incident that took place during your pre-wedding shoot.
Wendy: Joe from Acapella Photography and Raine, my makeup artist, were the most accommodating people to work with. There was never a moment of awkwardness. Victor and I were really happy that they have captured the most beautiful memories for us.
If you could share three tips with couples who are planning an overseas pre-wedding shoot, what would it be?
Wendy: Go with the flow, relax and it will all turn out well! For brides, remember to stay hydrated at all times! Lastly, very important to build rapport and communicate your expectations with your photography team.
