Elle and Hafiz’s Contemporary Monochrome Wedding at Anggun by Mastura on Stevens

Elle and Hafiz spent a joyous day celebrating their nuptials in a beautiful celebration with their family and friends.

Elle and Hafiz first met when they were in secondary school. They started off as friends and remained as such until their graduation, but years of friendship and companionship eventually blossomed into love as the young lovebirds found themselves naturally drawn to one another. After a formal introduction of both families, Elle and Hafiz tied the knot in a contemporary monochrome wedding at Anggun by Mastura on Stevens, with their family and friends celebrating their joy with them.

Share with us, what was it that drew you closer to each other? What was it about your partner that you love the most?

Elle: Personally, I think because we started off as friends, we knew each other’s personalities and good qualities, and were already very comfortable with one another. So, naturally, we were drawn to one another. I also love that Hafiz is kind and selfless.

What was the proposal like?

There wasn’t any proposal but we followed tradition and gathered both our immediate families a year before the wedding as a “formal way” to ask my parents for permission for my hand in marriage and to get to know both families better.

Tell us about your wedding.

We got married in the Manhattan Ballroom at Anggun by Mastura on Stevens. Some time ago, I attended a wedding at Warren Golf & Country Club and was left in awe by the lush wedding decor. After I found out that it was done by Anggun by Mastura, who are known for their wedding decor and catering, I knew there and then that I wanted them for my own wedding.

During my search for a wedding venue, I found out that Anggun had opened their very own wedding venue with two stunning ballrooms to choose from. Although both ballrooms had their own unique flair, we ended up choosing the Manhattan Ballroom for its one-of-a-kind monochrome theme and contemporary look that I was drawn to.

Did you have a wedding theme? If yes, what was it and how did you achieve it?

I was so inspired by the venue’s monochrome theme, so we stuck with it throughout to make sure the pictures would look good. My husband picked a grey suit for his modern look and we chose a traditional costume that had a tinge of grey just to match the theme. Our families, groomsmen and bridesmaids all wore white and grey. To top it off, I made all my guests attend my wedding in either black or white.

Take us back to your wedding day. What was the day like and how were you feeling?

It was surreal since I had waited and planned for this day for so long. I told myself not to worry about anything and just focus on smiling and enjoying the day. It was my big day after all. I was nervous at first, but as soon as the solemnisation ceremony was over, I was beyond happy at the realisation that I had finally married my better half.

What did your family/friends have to say about your wedding day?

Our family and friends were overjoyed for us and full of praises, even after the wedding was over. They loved my wedding outfits, makeup, decor, and even the food. I could not be more grateful for them.

Share with us the most memorable moment of your wedding?

The most memorable moment of my wedding was being able to witness the positive emotions, the bond between both families and how our family and friends were genuinely enjoying and celebrating the joyous occasion with us. It was simply priceless.

What is one lesson you’ve learned from your wedding planning that you’d like to share with other couples?

Make a list of everything you’ll need for the wedding, and list everything as detailed as possible, from your wedding budget to the list of options for wedding vendors. Never leave any details to the very last minute, and always plan and check things off the list early.
